an apple a day

Summary:

An apple reminds Slimecicle of his past cowering below Schlatt and his time on Molympus. He remembers all his mistakes, and vows not to ruin these people as he ruined his past as a god.

Notes:

Listen…I had to make a Slimecicle fic. He’s my favorite, it was necessary. THIS FIC DONT FOLLOW CURRENT SLIMECICLE LORE! I GOTTA GO MY OWN WAYYYYY! In this fic, Charlie remembers his SCU past, he is simply running from it. If you want me to add more chapters, I totally can, though I’d need suggestions of what could happen in them. Please enjoy! :D

Chapter Text

Slimecicle dusted his hands off on his pants. After a day of mining, his arms ache and his legs feel numb. It was worth it though, he thinks, hauling his chest of ores back up to the surface.

Arriving back in his house, he rechests his new additions, reorganizing his enderchest and sorting ores. Charlie likes to keep his home as tidy as possible, especially living so close to everyone else. The chance that someone could come by in infinitely more possible in this world. Charlie is just finished organizing his redstone as there is a knock on his door.

Opening it, he finds Tommy, also dusty from mining, standing awkwardly with his hand raises to knock.

“Charlay! My frieeend!” Tommy says, putting on a horrendous accent.

“Hey Tommy!”

“I was wondering if you wanted to come to a flower garden next to L’Manberg. Tubbo is going to meet me there and I noticed you’re a little bit ‘antisocial’ so he said to bring you.”

“Ah,” Charlie answers, both touched and a tad offended at the younger’s observation, “sure! I can come along!”

Charlie knows not to get close to these mortals. He is a stain on this world, they should not trust him. And yet, they do. They invite him out and tell him their secrets. It’s unnerving. Charlie believes himself a villain, the worst of the worst, worse that Dream. And yet the others don’t see it. Charlie won’t let it get to a point where they see it with their own eyes.

Coming upon the flower garden, Tommy plops down in the grass, fiddling with the sleeves of his shirt. Slime goes to sit beside him, lying down in the grass. The sunshine on his face is nice and warm, the grass soft and fragrant.

“This is nice!” Slime admits, wanting to show his gratitude. It’s nice to be out of the house for once.

“You would like it, you…” Tommy begins before trailing off and murmuring insults under his breath. It makes Charlie laugh at his antics. Slime focuses of the far buzz of bees, the scent of flowers, the warm sun. After a day deep underground, this is exactly what he needs.

He checks his inventory quickly to assure that he finished all his daily tasks and notices his hunger bar is low.

“Do you have any food, Tommy?” Charlie asks.

“Wouldn’t you like to know,” Tommy responds, mockingly. Slime laughs.

“If I don’t get food, I’m going to die,” Charlie exaggerates, holding his hand out to Tommy.

“Fiiiiiine,” Tommy groans and reaches into his bag. “I can’t believe you’re taking from the poor.”

Slime smirks, wiggling his fingers expectantly. Tommy laughs and chucks an apple at him, landing in his hand. An apple. An apple…apple…

“EAT MY APPLE!” The demonic voice echoes from above, reverberating in his ears. He stands atop a tree, gazing down upon Slime and his friends, laughing manically. His mouth opens and devilish mantras escape. Schlatt looks down on them, his eyes a radioactive yellow, no longer the man they knew. He was a god. And a malevolent one at that.

The sky screams above them, wind whipping past. They had worshipped Schlatt, desperate for the disasters to end. All they had wanted was to survive, Grizzly had wanted a dog, Condi had wanted to build a house with his friends. The terrifying echo of the alarm rings in his ears, a signal for death. Their house was swallowed by the earth along with their church.

The ground was rising and building on itself, creating a mountain from the remains of their livelihood. Smoke from the burning cross fills his nostrils as the sky rains fire.

“Charlie?”

“GrizzlyPlays! You currently stand trial in front of the entire council! We struggled so hard for so long, for diamonds and they don’t work! I think this is a war crime and we vote Grizzly off the Council!” Slimecicle shouts.

“No, listen, alright, let’s not- let’s not vote him off. That's a little too hasty.” Bizly protests.

“Bizly, shut the fuck up!”

“Are you kidding me?!”

“You’re sick,” Slime spits at Grizzly, pelting him with harming potions.

“No!”

“The Council has decided…that this shall be your punishment.” Slime states, holding an apple to Grizzly. Grizzly’s eyes widen in horror as the apple is presented, slowly shaking his head.

“An apple as red as your sins, GrizzlyPlays,” Condifiction growls, refusing to look at the offender.

“An apple red with the blood that you’ve spilled here,” Slimecicle continues, taking Grizzly’s trident from his hands and holding it up menacingly.

Condi begins to throw the harming potions while Slimecicle stabs him through with the trident. Grizzly looks into Charlie’s eyes in disbelief as his blood begins to stain his thrown. Tears form in Grizzly’s eyes as Bizly stabs him with another trident. He begins to sob but the other gods are unforgiving. This is the punishment for his sin.

“Pay the price for your sins,” Charlie states, stabbing him once again.

“Eat the apple!” Condi cries, hurling another harming potion.

“No more Molympus!” Slime cries as Grizzly raises the apple to his mouth. He looks up at his friends once more, tears streaking his face, and takes a bite.

“Charlie!”

Charlie is thrown back into the present as Tommy is waving a hand in front of his face. He is staring down at a red apple, innocent and unoffending in his hand. He looks up at Tommy.

“You good, big man?” Tommy asks, patting him on the shoulder. Slime gulps and forces a smile. Now is not the time for these memories. His regrets belong in the past.

“Yea-Yeah.” Slime stammers, his memories haunting him. Get it together, he thinks to himself.

“What was that?” Tommy presses, scooting closer to Charlie.

“…Nothing. Memories.” Charlie says vaguely, not willing to give up any information.

Tommy goes to say something else when Tubbo enters the field, a basket in hand, gathering flowers as he walks towards them. Now distracted, Tommy starts to chat with Tubbo loudly as Slime relaxes. They can’t know. They can’t. They don’t deserve to be ruined by him. Slime smiles as he watches the kids banter and gather flowers. No, he can’t ruin another thing. Not this.
