Work Text:
Mrs. Bustier’s class always highly anticipated the last Friday of every month. It was known as Career Day. The school used to have one full day dedicated to the parent’s of the students showing off their professions, but it’s become increasingly hard to get through everyone’s speeches and demonstrations. So, Mrs. Bustier suggested that one parent could come on the final Friday and use their entire class time to show off their work.
Marinette’s father, Tom, had gone first; showing the class how to bake a 3-tiered cake. Sabrina’s dad, Alya’s mom, and Alix’s dad followed after. The students were constantly left on edge as to who would come in next.
“Alright, class! We have a very special guest joining us today,” Mrs. Bustier said while strutting over to the entrance of the room, “Nathanael’s father, Mr. Kurtzberg has offered to come in to demonstrate his profession!”
The teacher opened the door and in walked a very professionally dressed man. He was wearing a black suit—nothing more than what someone would wear to a formal event.
“Hi, kids! I’m Mr. Kurtzberg, Nathanael’s dad. It’s very nice of you all to allow me to show you what I do for a living,” the nicely dressed adult beamed. The class all said their hello’s to him on top of each other. “Can any of you guess what my job is?”
Alix raised her hand first, “An FBI agent?”
Then, Ivan, “A wedding planner?”
Kim butted in, “Guys, he’s obviously the CEO of… of.. a really cool business.”
The entire class laughed at all the guesses just as Mr. Kurtzberg shook his head while smiling. “Those are all great answers, but those jobs aren’t even half as cool as mine.”
The teens all whispered amongst themselves trying to figure out his career.
“I’ll give you all a few hints before I demonstrate. One; people hire me for many parties and even some weddings,” Mr. Kurtzberg shot a look to Ivan prior to continuing, “Two; I only ask for volunteers. I never force anyone to indulge in my talents. Except Nathanael when he hasn’t done his chores.”
Nathanael blushed and nodded, “It’s true. It’s an abuse of power.”
“And three; those who choose to be part of my act normally don’t remember a thing afterwards.”
A loud gasp came from the back of the room and everyone shifted their attention to Rose. “Are you a—a hypnotist?”
“That’s right! I am a hypnotist! Great job,” Mr. Kurtzberg announced. The class excitedly shifted in their seats, most having never seen one in action before. “So, like I stated previously, I will only take volunteers. Would anyone like to try?”
Kim and Alix both raised their hands immediately. The two of them were never scared to try anything out. Nathanael’s father bowed his head in their direction. “Seems like we have two very eager students. Anymore?”
The room was full of small whispers to friends directly next to each other.
“You should try it,” Alya said to Marinette. Her eyes went wide.
And embarrass myself more than I already have? No, thank you,” Marinette replied. Alya snickered and turned her focus back to the visitor at the front of the room as he began speaking again.
“To help you make your decision, I’ll give you some facts. You have to be open to suggestion for hypnosis to work. If you are closed off or a skeptic, I can guarantee that your mind will reject it. You have to be mostly relaxed, as well. Stress can interfere with the process and it will make it hard for me to hypnotize you. And last but not least, I will not make anyone reveal something about themselves that are meant to be a secret. For instance; I don’t make you confess your love or admit that you’ve broken the law. This is all fun and games,” Mr. Kurtzberg stated. The students looked around for any other straggling hands.
“I-I’ll give it a try,” Nino said quietly. Alya raised an eyebrow at her boyfriend.
“Oh, I can’t wait to see this…” She muttered to Marinette who giggled at her sentence.
“Amazing!” Mr. Kurtzberg yelled, “3 volunteers is the minimum I always ask for. Come join me up front and bring your desk chairs.”
The 3 teens did as told, Alix and Kim basically racing each other to the front while Nino slowly skidded next to them.
“What are your names?” the hypnotist asked.
“I’m Alix.”
“Kim.”
“Nino.”
“Nice to meet you all. If you will take a seat in your chairs, we may begin the process,” Mr. Kurtzberg instructed. The three of them complied. “Now, I need you to take a deep breath in, inhaling for 5 seconds, letting your lungs fill up as much air as they possibly can. Then, let it out, exhaling for 10 seconds, letting go of any and all negativity in your life. Let’s do it twice more.”
The rest of the class watched as their friends took long and meditating breaths. Marinette decided to join along. There was no harm in exhaling out some stress she’d been holding onto.
“Now, I want to all to close your eyes and focus on that breathing. Listen to only the sound of my voice, drowning out all other background noises. You don’t hear your friends or the wind whistling outside; only my voice.”
Alya had her hand over her mouth trying to suppress a laugh as she watched her boyfriend fall deeper into a trance. Adrien almost doing the same, his head in his palm and biting his lips.
“I want you to imagine a giant staircase and we are going to walk down those stairs. With every step, you fall deeper and deeper into the hypnotic state feeling completely relaxed and safe. Let’s take the first step, letting your body feel heavy. As we reach the bottom, you will be completely relaxed and you will be in the complete hypnotic state, your head falling to the middle of your chest, asleep. Here we go; 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Sleep”
Mr. Kurtzberg snapped his fingers and Nino, Alix, and Kim had all let their heads fall. The class gasped in surprise, Alya and Adrien giggling. Nathanael’s dad walked next to Nino so he could better see the volunteers and the other students reactions.
“Let’s test it out. On the count of 3, I’m going to snap my fingers and you’ll be wide awake and alert. Ready? 1, 2, 3,” the hypnotist counted and as promised, the three friends opened their eyes. Their heads were back in their upright position, their eyes scanning the room. “Aaaaaand, sleep!”
With another snap of his fingers, they dropped their heads again, fully succumbing to the relaxed state they were in.
“This is gold—Marinette?” Alya turned to look at her best friend. Marinette’s head was down, almost touching the desk. Alya chortled and leaned forward to tap Adrien on the shoulder. He turned around wide eyed at Marinette. Adrien and Alya darted their eyes to each other and then back to their friend.
Immediately, without hesitation, Alya raised her hand and cleared her throat to get the hypnotists attention. “Ahem!”
Mr. Kurtzberg looked over to the noise and saw Alya pointing at the dark-haired girl who had accidentally been hypnotized from her seat. He smiled, walking from the students at the front and over to Marinette.
“Is this supposed to happen?” Alya questioned him. The hypnotist smiled and shook his head.
“No, but some are more susceptible to it than others. People in the audience of my shows get hypnotized by mistake all the time.”
“Well, I really would like to see this. Can she join the others up there?” Alya motioned to the front of the room. Mr. Kurtzberg hummed.
“What’s this young lady’s name?” he asked.
“Marinette,” Adrien butted himself in, still staring at the girl flopped onto her desk.
“Alright, Marinette. Listen to the sound of my voice. On the count of 3, you’ll be alert and will stand up, bringing your chair to the front of the classroom to sit next to Nino. 1, 2, 3.”
On cue, Marinette opened her eyes and lifted her head. She scooted out of her chair, picking it up and swiftly walking down the steps to arrive next to Nino as told. She planted her seat back down and sat in it. Mr. Kurtzberg followed and just as she finished her orders, he snapped his fingers and her head dropped again, looking just like Nino, Alix, and Kim.
“I need a front row seat for this,” Alya swerved around to the front next to Adrien, watching her friends intently. There were a few giggles around the classroom. Rose was undoubtedly the loudest. Juleka followed, but still tried to keep her girlfriend’s volume under control.
“Okay, here’s where the fun begins,” Mr. Kurtzberg addressed the rest of the class as he goes to his bag and pulls out 4 pink cups, “In my hands, I have some magic cups. I want you all to reach your hands out, sitting up; awake and alert, to grab the cup.”
Marinette, Nino, Alix, and Kim all straighten up, coming out of their deep sleep, and open their hands to grasp onto the object.
“In this cup, I put a very special juice in it. It’s called Giggle Juice. When you take a sip, you are going to laugh so hard, it will be the funniest juice you’ve ever had. Go on, try it,” the hypnotist egged them on.
Kim was the first to put the cup to his mouth and as soon as his lips came into contact with it, he couldn’t help but let out a small snicker. The rest of them did the same, Alix and Nino leaning on each other as they laughed. Marinette giggled the way she usually does, a slight blush coming to her face.
“Take another sip. This time, it’s ten times funnier than it was before.”
Marinette let the cup rise to her lips and as she swallowed the fake liquid, she started cackling. She was laughing as if someone was tickling her. Nino had a tear come from his eye and Alix and Kim almost fell out of their chairs.
Alya watched in amazement. Adrien couldn’t keep his eyes off of Marinette. She was sitting right in front of him and his eyes were glued to her. He giggled, too—her laughter contagious.
“It’s funny, isn’t it?” Mr. Kurtzberg said to the hypnotized students. They all nodded their heads as they continued laughing. “Now, sleep.” He snapped his fingers and the four of them went limp. Their chortling stopped and their faces were expressionless. The class continued to chuckle as their friends were told what to do.
“Kim,” the hypnotist walked over to the buff student and placed a hand on his shoulder, “You know how to count, surely you do.” Kim nodded his head unconsciously. “Good. When I snap my fingers you’re going to wake up. Ready?” Nathanael’s dad did just that and Kim sat up as if he hadn’t just been hypnotized.
“How many fingers do you have?” Mr. Kurtzberg asked.
“Ten,” Kim replied confidently.
“Well, just for me, could you hold your hands out and count them for me, but your number 4 is missing,” he took one finger and placed it on Kim’s forehead.
Kim held his hands out in front of him and dropped each finger to show that he already counted it. “Yeah. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10… 11? Wait. No, hold on. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.”
“You have 11 fingers?”
“No, wait. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.”
“Where is your 4th finger?” Mr. Kurtzberg raised an eyebrow.
“It’s here somewhere. I know I have it…” Kim’s face showed confusion as he counted his fingers again in his head.
The entire class were howling with laughter at Kim’s expense.
“Ah, I think I know where it is. See that girl over there?” the hypnotist asked while pointing to Rose, “She stole it. I think you need to go get it back.”
Kim glared back at Rose and the remaining students turned to look at her. The small girl’s eyes almost popped out of her head. “Give me my finger back!”
“I-I don’t have it,” Rose stuttered. Kim only held out one of his hands.
“Yes, you do, you finger thief! I need it back!” Kim yelled.
Mr. Kurtzberg cut in, “Kim, why don’t you ask her nicely? Ask her like you’re proposing to her.”
Kim walked up the steps to be right next to Rose and got down on one knee. He opened his hands as if he was opening a box with an engagement ring. “My dearest Rose. Please, will you do me the honor of giving me back my finger?” Kim batted his eyelashes at her.
Rose stifled a laugh, but her classmates were not so kind. They were snickering at all of this happening. Rose pretended to reach into her school bag and give him back his finger.
“There you g-go…” she said with a smile.
“Kim, she gave it back to you! How are you going to thank her?” the hypnotist asked. Kim stood up and leaned forward to press a small kiss onto her cheek. Rose blushed profusely and let out the giggle she’d been holding in. “Alright, come back down here and take a seat. Once your body hits the chair, you’ll be back into a deep relaxed state.
Kim did as told and his head dropped as his bottom came into contact with his seat.
“Alix and Nino!” Mr. Kurtzberg continued, standing between them and touching their shoulders just as he did with Kim, “When you open your eyes, you’re going to find that neither of you will be able to remember your first names. No matter how hard you try, you cannot remember your first name. 1, 2, 3, awake!”
The two teens slowly fluttered their eyes open and sat up straight, looking around the room at their friends who had all of their eyes on them.
“I know you told me a few minutes ago, but remind me of your name again?” the man looked to Alix. She went to open her mouth to speak but nothing would come out.
“I’m, uh. My name… is.. um,” Alix uttered.
“What’s your last name?”
“Kubdel,” Alix answered confidently.
“And your first name?”
“It’s…” Alix looked to the ceiling as if she were racking her brain trying to search for a name.
“What’s his name?” Mr. Kurtzberg pointed to the boy next to her.
“Nino. That’s Nino.” Alix said.
“Right, so your name is…?”
“My name… is… why don’t I know my name?”
The hypnotist focused his attention to Nino, now. “What about you? What’s your name?”
Nino tried to speak, but nothing would come out other than a few grunts. He wanted so bad to be able to remember his name.
“Come on, Alix just said it!”
“I know! I know! My name is…” Nino looked around the room for someone to tell him his name, but the people surrounding him were only laughing.
“I see the problem. It’s your hat,” Mr. Kurtzberg stated, “Your hat makes you forget. Once you take it off, you’ll remember it in no time.”
Nino grabbed onto his hat and pulled it off, the class gasping in response. Nino never ever took his hat off. It was jarring to see him without it.
“Now, remind me of your name again?”
“Nino. Nino Lahiffe,” he spoke hesitantly, as if he wasn’t entirely too sure about it.
“You’ll see as you place the hat back onto your head, you forget again.”
Nino put his hat back in its rightful spot and tries to say his name, but failing.
“Alright, and sleep,” Nathanael’s father snapped his fingers, yet again, Nino and Alix going back to the hypnotic state.
At this point, Alya was losing her mind. She gripped onto Adrien’s wrist to ground herself. She was trying her hardest not to completely burst into laughter. Adrien had to cover his own mouth with his hand to keep from cackling.
“Adrien. That’s your name, right?” Mr. Kurtzberg pointed to the blond sitting in the front. The sudden shift pulled him out of his daze.
“Yeah, yeah, that’s me,” Adrien responded.
“How good are you at acting?” the man asked.
“Uh, I mean. I’ve done some before,” Adrien shyly said.
“Perfect. I’ll need you for this next one. Just go along with it like it’s improvisation,” Mr. Kurtzberg instructed him. He nodded and stiffened up, almost scared to see what was going to happen. “Marinette. Surely you’ve seen how Paris’ two superheroes, Ladybug and Chat Noir, act, right?”
Marinette hummed, her eyes still closed. Adrien’s eyes, however, were wider than ever.
“Well, when I clap my hands, you will wake and suddenly, you are Chat Noir and the boy sitting directly in front of you is Ladybug. You two are on patrol, looking out for anymore dangers.”
Adrien’s tension relaxed. There’s no way that anyone would figure out he was Chat if he wasn’t playing Chat. Ladybug was easy to do. He would just say things that she said to him all of the time.
In a split second, Mr. Kurtzberg clapped, and Marinette opened her eyes, looking straight at Adrien. He bit his lip, nervous to see how she would portray him. Her eyes softened and a smirk rose to her face.
“Hey there, bugaboo. It’s just purr-fect weather we’re having tonight, isn’t it?” Marinette raised her eyebrows at the pun and Adrien pursed his lips together.
“Your puns still aren’t funny, Kitty,” Adrien replied, his hands clasped together tightly. Alya and the rest of the class were quiet now. There was no laughter to be heard. Marinette was flirting with Adrien. Sure, she was technically doing it unconsciously, but it was still happening. Alya took out her phone to record this entire interaction. She was positive Marinette would want to see it after this was all over.
“Me-ouch!” Marinette put a hand to her heart, “You’ve got to be kitten me! My puns are pawsitively punderful, m’lady!”
Adrien smirked back. Does he really make this many puns?
“Just shut up and get back to patrolling, you mangy cat,” Adrien countered her. He knew Marinette would never know he was just stealing things from their conversation a few nights prior, but it was almost strange how well she played him.
Marinette got up from her chair to stand closer to him. She used her hands to lean against his desk, her face only inches away from Adrien’s.
“Admit it, you love them. Almost as much as you love me,” Marinette winked at Adrien and his face went hot. Both from embarrassment and the fact that he had said that exact same thing to Ladybug on their last patrol. It was only a coincidence, he thought.
“In your dreams, Chat Noir,” Adrien kept the conversation going as best as he could remember to see if she’d continue with what he said next.
“Ah, you’d be fur-ious if you knew how much I dreamt about you, bugaboo,” Marinette reached for Adrien’s hand and kissed the top of it; a normal occurrence for Ladybug and Chat Noir. The class burst into screams, laughter, and even a few “aw’s”. Adrien looked at her with an expression that could only be described as a mixture of fear and shock. She was repeating word for word what they’d said on Tuesday.
No one was within earshot of them when they were talking and Marinette was hypnotized, so the only possible way she’d be able to recall what he told her was if…
Adrien shook his head to jump back into the improv. He only knew of one thing to say that would set him on the right track. It was a risk, but no one else in the class would know about it except for Ladybug and Chat Noir.
“You’re ridiculous, kitty cat,” Adrien pushed Marinette away and playfully rolled his eyes just as Ladybug would do with him. “I’m still not so sure why Plagg sticks around when you’re this annoying.”
“Because Plagg is even more annoying than I am,” Marinette says without hesitation, “If anything, I should be leaving him. You’re lucky Tikki doesn’t just use you for food!”
The confirmation was there. No one except for Master Fu, Ladybug, and Chat Noir knew of the kwami’s names, yet Marinette had said it so confidently. Adrien almost hit himself for not seeing it sooner.
“We keep getting off track. Let’s go back to patrolling before we miss an akumatization,” Adrien said softly.
“As you wish, m’lady,” Marinette bowed in Adrien’s direction and he blushed. Adrien was never one to blush, but Marinette was Ladybug. The girl of his dreams, the love of his life was Marinette. It took everything he had not to just lean forward and kiss her.
Mr. Kurtzberg walked over to Marinette, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder, “And, sleep.”
Marinette’s head dropped and suddenly she was lifeless again. Adrien let out a large sigh; one he didn’t even know he was holding. The hypnotist guided Marinette back to her seat just as Alya stopped recording.
“That was priceless!” Alya whisper-screamed, “and SO going on the Ladyblog!”
“Wait!” Adrien grabbed her arm, “Don’t post it, yet. Send it to me! I want to be the one to show her the video.”
“Oh my God, she’s gonna freak!” Alya smiled as she texted it to Adrien.
He received the notification and peeked down at it. He now has a forever memory of him finding out that Marinette is Ladybug and for some reason, it made him swoon.
“As I count up to the number five, the four of you will become less relaxed and slowly release yourself from your hypnotic state. You will feel rejuvenized and will ultimately feel content and happy. You might be confused at first, but it will all wash away as I get to five. Here we go, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Sitting up, nice and full of energy,” Mr. Kurtzberg released them from their hypnosis.
The teens fluttered their eyes open, slowly adjusting to the light, to see their entire class staring at them. Alix and Kim smiled. Nino cleared his throat, peeking over to see Alya smirking with a raised eyebrow. What had he gotten himself into?
Marinette immediately made eye contact with Adrien, who was biting down on his bottom lip to keep himself from laughing… or screaming… or trying to kiss her. She gasped as she realized where she was.
“Wha-What? How did I—who? Alya!” Marinette glared at her friend. Alya held her hands up in surrender.
“It wasn’t me! You got hypnotized all on your own. It was hilarious,” Alya couldn’t help but laugh at the frantic girl. Marinette’s face turned red, only imagining the embarrassing things she could have done in front of Adrien. Literally, right in front of Adrien.
“How do you all feel?” Mr. Kurtzberg asked the volunteers.
“Good,” Kim stated.
“Amazing,” Alix followed.
“Fine,” Nino whispered.
“Humiliated,” Marinette groaned. The rest of the class laughed at her expense. All except Adrien, who couldn’t stop staring at her. He was mesmerized that she’d been right in front of him this whole time. Well, right behind him, technically.
“Everyone thank Mr. Kurtzberg for coming to our class and showing us his amazing talents!” Mrs. Bustier spoke up. The room filled with unanimous thanks and the man smiled in return.
“Anytime,” he said. “Nathanael has business cards for whoever would like to contact me for parties and other events.”
Marinette and her friends returned their chairs and sat in their respective spots. She laid her head down on the desk just as Alya swooped back up to be next to her.
“It wasn’t that bad, girl! It was funny,” Alya comforted Marinette.
“I made a fool out of myself, Alya. I just know I did,” the dark-haired girl whispered lowly so Adrien wouldn’t be able to hear.
“Trust me, you were fine. More than fine, actually,” Alya smiled. Marinette groaned again and shut her eyes to try and rid the feeling of imminent doom that was raining upon her.
“You rang?” Ladybug says as she swings up to the roof where Chat Noir was already perched. He was sitting on the edge of the same building that they go to every time they patrol. It was their spot. Some place just for the two of them.
“I did,” Chat twisted his head over his shoulder to see the red and black spotted girl behind him. He patted the cement, telling her to sit next to him. She did as told and their shoulders touched.
“Why so early? We don’t normally patrol until 6,” Ladybug interrogated her partner.
“I had something I needed to talk to you about,” Chat Noir said seriously. Ladybug was immediately worried. The tension in his voice caught her off guard.
“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” She asked anxiously. Chat chuckled slightly.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m okay.”
“Then, what’s up?” Ladybug raised an eyebrow.
Silence filled the space between them for a few seconds.
“I got a video from Alya. You know, the girl who runs the Ladyblog? She sent me this after her class got done for the day,” Chat said while taking out his baton. Adrien had sent it to himself once he got home from school since he couldn’t pull out his actual phone. “It’s this video of these two kids, Adrien and Marinette, I think her name is, pretending to be Ladybug and Chat Noir.”
Ladybug almost threw herself off of the building at that moment. The embarrassment of knowing that her partner has seen a video of her civilian persona acting like a fool was enough to make her want to pass out.
“I watched it and was cracking up. They portray us so well! They’d be such a cute couple,” Chat continued. He turned his head to Ladybug’s with a smirk, but she couldn’t do anything but stare off into the horizon and swallow whatever contents she had in her mouth.
Chat shoved the baton in her face, “Watch!”
Ladybug complied, her eyes watching the screen intently. She sighed with relief when she noticed that she wasn’t pretending to be Ladybug, but instead, was Chat Noir. Good, she didn’t reveal her identity to the entire class.
She cringed at the sound of the cat puns coming out of her mouth. She was shocked that she said them so flawlessly, too.
Her eyes glued to the screen as she watched Adrien play Ladybug. He played her well; his rejections to Chat Noir were on point. She smiled slightly.
That was until she saw herself get face to face with Adrien Agreste and wink at him. She winked at him. She covered her eyes with her hands and Chat removed them forcefully.
“No, keep watching, you’re getting to the best part!” he said while pushing her hands down. Ladybug took a deep breath as she continued to stare at the screen in horror. Adrien looked terrified in the video. Marinette would never be able to face him again.
Just when she thought it couldn’t get worse, she called Adrien “bugaboo” and then kissed the top of his hand. Ladybug shrieked and Chat couldn’t help but laugh.
“Wait, it gets better,” he teased. Ladybug listened to the final seconds of the video. She heard Plagg’s name roll right off of his tongue and Tikki’s name come barreling out of hers. For a moment, she might have blacked out because the only thing she could see were stars.
“Wasn’t that just hilarious?” Chat Noir shut his baton and snickered. He looked at Ladybug’s expression and noticed that she wasn’t moving. He waved his hand in front of her face. “Hello?”
Still, she didn’t budge. Her mouth was wide open and she was completely and utterly embarrassed.
“MARINETTE!” Chat Noir yelled. That certainly got her attention. She whipped her head around to face him, though her emotions never faltered.
“You—you? No, it’s not—wait. No, I—you’re not,” Ladybug stammered. Chat smiled sincerely this time, hopping up from where he was sitting, grabbing onto Ladybug’s hand and pulling her up, too. He dragged her over behind a chimney, so the two of them couldn’t be seen.
“Claws in,” Chat said to release his transformation. Adrien was left standing in front of her. Ladybug had tears forming in her eyes. Not out of sadness or frustration, but out of happiness and maybe even pure shock. “You play an amazing Chat Noir, but I think I got you beat, bugaboo.”
Adrien flipped one of her pigtails and gave his trademark Chat Noir smirk. It made her world spin—seeing Chat Noir, her partner that she’s always rejected, turn into Adrien Agreste, the boy she’s been rejecting him for.
“Spots off,” Ladybug said quickly. Her pink light drowned her and she swiftly turned back into Marinette. “You figured me out?”
“Your subconscious remembered our conversation from a few days ago. You gave yourself away,” Adrien voiced. Marinette let her head fall into her hands.
“That’s so embarrassing!” she let out. Adrien walked closer and put his hand onto her shoulder. Marinette looked up at him and he swiftly moved it up to her cheek. He was touching the skin of the girl he’s been dreaming of since the day they met and he let out a shaky breath.
“It’s endearing. It’s cute. You’re cute,” Adrien confessed. “This—knowing who you are—changes absolutely nothing for me. You are still the love of my life, m’lady.”
Marinette let a tear roll down her cheek and Adrien was quick to wipe it away.
“It changes everything for me. Because now, I’m in love with Chat Noir,” Marinette smiled after sniffling, “Who would have thought?”
“Definitely not me,” Adrien spoke lowly. His eyes flickered from hers to her lips and he grinned. “I’m going to kiss you, now.”
“I’d like that,” Marinette whispered. She shut her eyes as Adrien’s lips came into contact with hers and it was better than she ever could have imagined. Sure, she’d kissed Chat a few times before, but only to get rid of a spell or because they wouldn’t remember it afterwards.
Marinette would always remember this moment. It was when the two most important people in her life became one.
