Work Text:

Miko's ears stands up.

It was a quiet and somewhat cold morning, the sun just barely rising from the horizon when Miko heard heels clacking against stone pavements at the shrine, which each steps getting closer and closer. No one else beside her should be up at this hour to work at the shrine, at least not on a Saturday morning.

To her own surprise, none other than the Electro Archon had visited, her hair a bit disheveled from the full braid while her spear hung behind her. Miko would have questioned her Archon's sudden appearance without any word. Usually Makoto would visit during a Wednesday afternoon.

Miko peaks behind Makoto, eyeing the purple weapon which Makoto would always call 'A sign of peace', clearly sharpened and was in use. For all Miko knows, Makoto hated violence and refused to participate in any physical activities and yet, with every war that had happened thus far, Makoto would always stand as the victor. Miko would ponder endlessly but questioning a God's ability was beyond her morals.

Instead, Miko composed herself, her ears dropping to relax as she says; "Her Excellency!" She keeps her voice in a level tone, her pink fluffy tail swaying low behind her. "What do I owe the pleasure?"

Normally, Makoto would have responded with a quip of herself, her bright toothy smile reflecting with her carefree and outgoing personality. Except, the scared look Makoto wore while batting an eye was a sight to see, even for Miko herself.

"Miko..." Makoto says, trying to calm herself down with a hand over her chest. I didn't think she would be up this early, Makoto thinks, looking around the shrine once more. "I'm here to make peace offerings." She finally answers and Miko raises her brow.

That explains her unkempt look, Miko muses and she wonders if Makoto was out fending off all the evil from the land again. Miko would've questioned more from Makoto, although as she notices the person constantly shifting from one foot to another, fidgeting with her polearm, was enough for Miko to get the answer she desired.

So she stepped closer, her tail swaying up in amusement, her eyes glittering with mischief one would be scared to look at except the person in front of her had looked directly into them. Purple meets purple, the other full of glitter in them while the latter held no emotions whatsoever.

Had she not been the Electro Archon's beloved familiar, Miko would have bowed her head of respect for the deity standing in front of her and all would be left to History. Except, Miko knew better than to leave things at it is.

"You're not Makoto are you?"

The silence was unbearable as they stood in front of each other, Miko not making way for the person in question.

Makoto - or whoever she was - looked away, a frown visibly painting her face. Miko reflects the frown with a smile of her own, entertained by the same features of her dear Archon with a different personality. In all honesty, she didn't have this much hunger for curiosity in all her lifespan. And what good would stopping do now when the person in front of her was in their vulnerable state.

She'd rather take the risk and call this fateful encounter a memory only she would know.

Miko laughs under her breath. "Can you tell me your name?" She asks. It took a bit time for Miko to get the answer she dearly wanted to hear but she knew all of it would be worth it.

"..Ei."

Miko's heart would flutter as she hears the name. "Ei." Repeated Miko in a sing song voice, it rolled off of her tongue and she decided that she liked the name. "I believe you and me would get along pretty well." She coos, repeating the name over and over again unbeknownst at the latter's heated face.

From there on did Miko realize she'd be spending most of her time alongside Makoto and her twin sister Ei who once would always hide behind other's shadow. Ei was a lovely name and Miko thought it fitted said person very well.

If only Miko had the knowledge from the future that she'd be calling the same name over and over again, except, she'd be longing for their presence for the next five hundred years.
