Chapter Text
Bakugo was strange. Everyone in his class knew that. He was the most talented student in the district, and was almost certainly going to become a top hero. His quirk was powerful, and his instincts were incredible. But there was something.. odd about him.
It wasn't the famous Bakugo temper, or the famous Bakugo snarl. It was when the anger and the feral smile fell away, leaving an almost delighted happiness behind.
It only ever happened when he was looking at his phone. He only ever looked at his phone at school when he got a message, yet every message he ever received made him smile.
It was theorized at one point that he had a secret girlfriend. It was nonsense of course, but nobody at Aldera ever found out the truth.
The other students often asked if he wanted to hang out after school, but he declined with a strangely calm no and hurried off, every day, without fail.

Katsuki knocked politely on his neighbours door. It was opened by an elderly woman with a warm smile.
"Hello Katsuki dear, you're right on time! He's just getting his things together."
"Hey Mrs T. Has he behaved himself?" He asked.
The woman chuckled fondly.
"He's been an angel, as usual."
"Thank you for watching him." He said.
"It's not a bother dear. It's actually quite nice having someone else around the house again."
A small boy ran out of the door and barrelled into Katsuki's legs, barely making him stumble.
"Kacchan!!" He exclaimed, beaming up at the older boy.
Katsuki smiled, ruffling Izuku's fluffy hair gently.
"Hey there you little nerd. Ready to go?" Izuku nodded. "Alright, what do you say?"
The greenette turned back to the woman, who was watching them with a large smile.
"Thank you Mrs Tamara!" Izuku said.
"You're welcome dearie. See you on Monday!"
"See you on Monday!" Izuku echoed.
"See you." Katsuki said.
The seventeen year old took the greenette's hand and walked down the hall, taking the stairs up a floor and opening their front door, letting go of the young boy's hand and letting him run free.
"What do ya want for dinner?" Katsuki asked.
"Katsudon!" Izuku exclaimed.
The blonde sighed dramatically, dumping his school bag on the sofa and heading into the small kitchenette.
"Katsudon, Katsudon. You're going to become Katsudon if you eat much more of it!" He said, pulling an apron over his head.
Izuku giggled, following after Katsuki with his drawings in hand.
"I can't turn into katsudon Kacchan! That would be a ter.. teri.. silly quirk!"
Katsuki dumped the rice into the cooker and turned it on, turning to the pork.
"Oh yeah? You know how Mrs T loves cookies, but she doesn't eat them all the time!"
"That's 'cause too many cookies is bad for you!"
"Yeah, because you'd turn into one!"
"Nu-uh!"
"Yu-huh!"
Katsuki continued making dinner while listening to Izuku babble about his day, and occasionally glanced over as the green bean lifted up a drawing to show him.
"Here you go Izuku, your magic Katsudon. This is it you know? Five nights in a row is the limit! You're going to wake up tomorrow in a bowl!" The blonde said, setting two bowls of Izuku's favourite meal on the table.
"No I won't!" The four year old protested.
Katsuki picked up the child under the arms and lifted him into the air, a wide smile on his normally angry face.
"Mmm, tasty Izuku Katsudon!" He said, making silly nomming noises.
"Noooo!! Kacchan, stop!!" Izuku giggled, trying to wiggle out of Katsuki's grip.
The blonde set the tiny greenette onto his chair, taking the one directly to the right.
Once they'd finished eating, Katsuki took the empty bowls and sent Izuku to the living room.
"You've got an hour brat, then you're going to bed. Gotta get up bright and early to go see the doctor!" He said.
Izuku immediately sped into the older boys room, most likely to go on the computer. He'd probably watch that old All Might video another couple of thousand times, then look up all kinds of interesting quirks and imagine what he would get.
Once he finished the washing up Katsuki sorted out the pile of dirty clothes in the washing basket, moving what was already in the machine into the drier, and putting away what came out of the drier.
There were a lot of All Might shirts, and not all of them were child sized.
The blonde walked into his room and sat at his desk, taking his homework out of his bag and starting the long list of equations their teacher had given them.
"Alright you brat, time for bed." He said, stretching his arms.
Izuku nodded sleepy, getting down from the swivel chair and heading into his own room. Katsuki followed a minute later, finding the greenette snuggled under the covers already.
"You brushed your teeth?" He asked.
Izuku nodded.
The blonde sat on the edge of the bed, an eyebrow raised.
"You excited for tomorrow?"
"Of course!!" Izuku exploded, his earlier fatigue almost forgotten. "What kind of quirk do you think I'll have?"
Katsuki shrugged.
"I don't know. But it probably won't be as cool as mine!" He said, sticking his tongue out and making a face.
The small boy giggled, his emerald eyes gleaming in the half darkness. The older boy stood up with a sigh, walking to the door.
"Good night Kacchan!"
"Night Izu."
"I love you!"
"Love you too brat. Now go to sleep, or I'll sell all your toys."
Katsuki smiled at the muffled giggle behind the closed door. He sat back down at his desk and finished up his homework. The teenager glanced at the clock before going for a shower and heading to bed. He stared at his alarm for a moment, confirming that it was exactly 8:32, and closed his eyes, angrily willing himself to sleep.
