Natasha stopped in her tracks outside the door of her and Maria's apartment. Nothing was out of the ordinary, but Natasha had a feeling that something was wrong. She moved the shopping bags to one arm and pulled her gun out of her pocket. Then she opened the door as silently as possible, pointing her gun out in front of her.
Seeing no immediate threat, Natasha was anxious to make sure that her wife was alright. 'Mia, you ok?' Natasha called out. 'Hey Nat, I'm fine, just dealing with an intruder,' Maria yelled from down the hallway. 'Ok, you need a hand?' Natasha asked, putting her gun back in her pocket. 'Nope, I'm good, don't forget to put the ice cream in the freezer,' Maria replied.
Natasha put away the groceries and walked down the hall to their spare bedroom, where Natasha could see Maria tightening the restraints of the intruder she had tied to the chair. Maria looked up with a smile when Natasha entered the room. From the back of the woman tied to the chair, Natasha could tell that they were short, blonde and.... wearing a strange military style vest.
'Do you knock all of your visitors unconscious and tie them up?' Yelena asked before taking a swig from a bottle of vodka. 'Well most of our guests let us know when they're coming and don't try and break into our apartment,' Natasha said, leaning back in her chair. 'Fair point, who is scary lady anyway?' Yelena asked. 'I have a name,' Maria said with a sigh, joining Natasha and Yelena at the table.
'Oh, yes sorry for not introducing you Masha,' Natasha began, 'Yelena, this is Maria, my wife'.
'Nice to meet you Yelena, sorry for trying to shoot you,' Maria said with a small smile. 'Wait, you have a wife?' Yelena asked, shocked. 'Yep, we've been married five years now,' Natasha said with a grin, grabbing Maria's hand. 'And you didn't tell me,' Yelena muttered, shaking her head.
'Ice cream?' Natasha offered, walking into the lounge with a huge tub of it and some bowls. 'Natasha, Ice cream won't make up for the fact that your wife nearly killed me,' Yelena muttered dramatically. 'Hey,' Maria said defensively, throwing a pillow at Yelena. Natasha handed Yelena a bowl of ice cream and sat down on the couch next to Maria, laying her head on the brunette's lap and looking up at her with a smile. Yelena pulled a face at their affection as she sat in the armchair next to the couch and scrolled through Netflix for something to watch.
About halfway through the movie, a scratching sound was heard outside the kitchen window. 'What the hell is that?' Yelena asked, eyes tearing away from the screen and looking towards the source of the noise. 'Nat, let your cat in,' Maria said with a sigh. Natasha got up from the couch and opened the window enough for a slightly chubby black cat to get through. 'Hello Liho,' Natasha said with a smile, planting a kiss on the feline's head and scratching behind her ears. 'You have a cat?' Yelena asked excitedly. 'Yep, Liho, meet your auntie Yelena,' Natasha said, smiling as she placed Liho on the blonde's lap.
'Goodnight, if you're going to have sex then please be quiet,' Yelena said as she walked to the spare bedroom. 'Maria is pretty vocal in bed so no promises,' Natasha called out. 'Hey,' Maria scolded Natasha jokingly. 'What, it's true,' Natasha said, holding her hands up in defence. Maria rolled her eyes but smiled, bringing Natasha closer against her chest.
Later that night, Natasha and Maria lay in bed, limbs intertwined. Natasha traced circles on the bare skin on her wife’s stomach as Maria softly kissed Natasha's neck. 'Thank you for not killing my sister,' Natasha said softly. Maria chuckled lightly, 'you're welcome, she's great, reminds me of you'. Natasha turned to face Maria, green eyes meeting Maria's blue ones. Maria smiled the wonderful, heartwarming smile she only reserved for Natasha. Natasha placed a kiss on her forehead, 'I love you Maria Romanoff-Hill,' Natasha spoke softly. Maria tucked her head into the crook of Natasha's neck, 'I love you too, Natasha Romanoff-Hill,' she replied.
Natasha fell asleep that night in the arms of the women she loved more than anything, Liho curled up at her feet and her little sister sleeping down the hall. For the first time in her life, things felt okay and Natasha went to sleep without the worries of the world on her shoulders.
