Tendency

Summary:

Part 4 of the Rowvember 2021 seires. Velvet has a tendency to go through cars like she goes through men.

Work Text:

Velvet was known for many things; being the leader of a criminal empire, being a celebrity with her own line of merch and clothing, being a slut, being prone to violent outbursts, and being a less than decent driver.

The latter of which being the one that would get her into hot water soon.

She wasn't a terrible driver per se, she knew some of the traffic rules but simply chose to ignore them most of the time. She just wasn't a very considerate one, especially when she was in a hurry.

And so it was that she once again returned a vehicle to the garage that was missing both side view mirrors, had a busted rear light, and was decorated with several scratches that the vehicle had suffered by scraping against buildings, news stands, and oncoming traffic.
Usually such damages wouldn't bother the redhead, her insurance would cover it without a problem and have the car patched up within less than a day.

However, this was not her car.

The metallic. charcoal Infuego rolled into the underground parking garage of the skyscraper in downtown. A nervous woman exited the luxurious car, her heel clicking on the concrete floor, echoing off the walls as she examined the full scale of the damages. After that, she popped open the trunk to retrieve a couple of black and red, expensive looking bags. Hesitantly approaching the elevator, she thought about how she would break the news to the owner of the luxury sedan, worried about their reaction.

As the express elevator raced towards the top of the tower, she decided to just be honest. Anyone else would have gotten a bullshit story full of excuses, hell, she probably wouldn’t even care that she wrecked their car, but the demoness didn't want to lie to her significant other. The elevator doors dinged open and she stepped into the large hallway before approaching the door and unlocking it with her key.

Upon opening the apartment door, the comforting scent of Viola's perfume, and warmth greeted the demoness, easing her concerns through its mere atmosphere alone.

"Oh hey, you're finally back," the other woman's friendly voice called from the next room.

Vivi didn't want to reply at first, anxious about the confession she would have to make.

She placed the bags down in front of the living room table and took her jacket off.

Velvet heard the familiar sound of soft footsteps approaching, "You took quite long today, was traffic that bad, did something happen?" Viola asked curiously, sounding slightly concerned as she embraced the redhead.

"Hey, V," the Saint accepted the hug, "yeah, about the traffic..." she started.

Viola let go of the Boss and looked at her, waiting for her girlfriend to continue.

"I was kind of the reason for traffic being bad earlier," she shyly explained, scratching her nose.

Viola crossed her arms at that statement, "Oh god, what did you do?" She questioned with her typical unimpressed voice, laced with a hint of annoyance.

"Well, you see," Velvet tried to find the words, "you know how when one lane is full of cars, and I don't want to wait, I look for, uh, alternative routes."

Viola raised an eyebrow, but said nothing yet.

"And sometimes those shortcuts don't work so well since you're not meant to go through them by car."

The black haired woman had a good idea where this was going, rolling her eyes as she prepared for the conclusion of the Boss' explanation.

"So I maybe hit a thing or two....or five."

"How bad is it?" Viola sighed, straight to the point.

Vivi lowered her head a little as she listed the damages she had found earlier. She felt like a little kid confessing to have broken a vase.

"So you owe me two car repairs now," Viola stated with hands on her hips.

Velvet winced at the all too recent memory of when she rear-ended a Varsity truck and got flung out through the windshield of Viola's Temptress, landing in the pick-up's bed.

"Do I have to punish you again?" The dark haired woman teased, causing Vivi to glance at the bags from Leather & Lace that she had brought in, before getting serious again, "I can't let you borrow my cars, can I?"

"I'm sorry, V," Velvet wore a sad pout as she apologized to her lover. She hated herself for breaking something that belonged to someone she cared for.

"Don't just be sorry, be responsible," the former Morningstar scolded her, she knew that Vivi didn't mean to damage her Infuego on purpose, but it didn't change the fact that she did.

"I'll have my mechanic come over first thing in the morning," the redhead promised, "I was already running late, so I couldn't take it to a Rim Jobs before coming back here."

"I prefer you being honest instead of trying to cover it up," Viola eased up a bit, "but you have to be more responsible and careful with other people's stuff."

Viola was well aware that Velvet probably carried enough cash to outright buy her a new car instead of repairing the old one, but the immense wealth the Saints had gotten used to over the last few years should not be an excuse to be wasteful or reckless, who knew when money would be tight again.

"Okay, at least I buckled my seatbelt this time," Vivi joked smugly.

"Good girl," the woman praised her in jest, "come on, now show me what you brought us this time."
