Bennett is not unlucky person. He is actually has very good luck especially luck for survive. No matter what incident, he will survive. even if someone struck him in heart, his luck will help him survive somehow. But that doesn't mean he wont get hurt. He know too well how painful a knife is, how a rope can hurt his neck and throat, how bitter a poison can be. He know because at one point he tried it himself. But he still alive. His luck wont allow him to die.
In exchange for this kind of luck, bad luck will follow him and even people around him. The bad luck is so heavy to the point people thinking he was cursed.
Sadly, this is not curse or some kind of supernatural thingy, he just born with it. Even the Archon of Mondstadt, Barbatos himself (or should he call him Venti?) say no archon can help him because he never cursed or 'broken' in first place. (He knows about venti because his luck at the cost gotten shoot with many arrow venti accidently misfire and accidentally reaveal himself to save Bennett)
Thats why Bennett start distancing himself from people around him after his party member left him. He doesn't want someone got hurt from his bad luck.
Bennett make many acquaintance but not friends. Leaving the town for adventure and only back for claiming reward or asking Barbara to heal him. He scared that if he stay on the town long enough the town it self will get destroyed from his bad luck.
He was so alone, and wish to have someone to befriend with but he dont want people get hurt because of him.
Until that person with blond hair come. He ask Bennett to lead him around. He ask him to accompany him because he was the more familiar with the area among other adventurer.
Then many bad luck happen around them.
Tripped by small rock
Misfired arrow
Burned cooking
Falling to hilichurl camp
More and more. Until it happen. That person nearly die because glider malfunction.
So many blood and Bennet curse himself.
Thankfully Barbara can heal him fast and help that person. And thus he tell the truth about his luck and bad luck. Tell him he wont guide him anymore. Tell him this is his last time seeing each other.
But the person keep smiling. He will always choose Bennett. He wont leave Bennett. He will stay with Bennett.
" Why are you so persistent? Next time you may die"
"I wont, because everytime i see you smile an honest smile, laughing and happy, make me really happy, really thankfull that you were born, really happy that we met"
"You are really an idiot, you know..."
"Yeah, Paimon often call me like that"
No one ever say thay thankfull for him to be born. People always pity him and some even wonder would he be happier not born. But this person say he happy spending time with him, seeing his smile and dare to say his time with bennet is his happiest time. He doesnt understand why....

After very long time, Bennett let himself hoping for future...
