Fractured Glass

Summary:

"Sticks and stones may break my bones.
But words can also hurt me.
Sticks and stones break only skin,
while words are ghosts that haunt me.
Pain from words has left its scar
on mind and heart that’s tender.
Cuts and bruises now have healed,
it’s words that I remember."

It hurt. It hurt more than any physical pain he had ever felt. Or maybe the reason it hurt so much was because it wasn't just physical pain.

He felt used and worthless.

The hands that once caressed his body with loving touches were now a bittersweet ache.

He had to remind himself constantly that he was only an object for the other to take out his emotions on.

The other loved someone else.

And it hurt.

Notes:

Chapter 1: Chapter 01

Chapter Text

Taehyung didn't like the name V anymore. It was a nickname his best friend had given him in high school and one he stuck with calling himself. By the end of his junior year, Taehyung didn't exist anymore. Even the teachers referred to him as his preferred name, but he doesn't prefer it now, two years later. It only haunts him and sends a brutal ache through his chest whenever someone uses it. The pain feels like a knife is being plunged into his heart and twisting until he's on his knees begging for mercy.

But mercy is not something an object is permitted.

Fresh tears welled up in his eyes as he was left home alone in his room that smelled far too much of sex. He was covered in the sticky substance that also stained his sheets alone. The door had slammed shut only moments before. There was an ache in his backside where the other had decided to be rough, hardly prepping the younger boy before he felt like he was being ripped apart and not in the good way. He knew in a sense this was becoming rape for he no longer enjoyed the touches the other gave him. He had come to fear the person he had loved since his freshman year of high school. He was a freshman in college now.

He managed to choke back another sob as he stumbled from the bed to the bathroom to at least clean himself up. He knew the sheets had to be thrown out...again, but that was the least of his concerns as he held his cell phone to his ear and waited for the tub to fill.

"Hello?" A voice answered tired on the other end of the phone and Taehyung was briefly aware he might have woken the younger male up, regret instantly filling up his chest as he sniffled. "Tae? Are you crying? Fucking! I'm going to kill him. Park Jimin is going to die a painful death! This is like the twentieth time you have called me, hyung. Wh-"

"I'm s-sorry, Kookie. I didn't know w-who else to call and you always answer. I know I woke you up and I should just hang up and let you sleep and do what I always do. He won't be home until tomorrow probably considering h-he has H-h-hobi-hyung," he had to force the name he had come to hate lately out with another sob, "I don't know what to do Kookie. It hurts so s-so much." He was sitting in the tub now, the warm water stinging a bit when it touched the scratches on his skin.

"Hyung, pack your stuff. You can't stay there anymore. Jimin is an asshole and I'm going to make sure he pays. Okay? Take your bath, even though I've told you not to wash the evidence of rape away, but I know you're already in the water, pabo. I'm going to call my brother and see if you can stay there for a little bit until I can help you find an apartment of your own. Yoongi goes to the same college as you, so it shouldn't be a far distance. I'll come pick you up in an hour. Make sure you pack everything," even though Jungkook was younger, he was always there to support his hyung. Especially at a time like this, "And Tae? I love you, okay? You deserve so much better and I'm going to help you find someone who will take care of you. See you soon, Tae-Tae." And that was the end of the phone call.

Setting his phone aside, he followed the orders he had been given (lately that seemed to be the only thing he was good at) and washed himself in hopes of washing away the pain, but it didn't matter. The pain would always be there. Maybe not visibly, but Taehyung would forever carry the pain of being physically, mentally, and emotionally abused by the best friend he loved dearly, Park Jimin. Even now, after everything that had happened, Tae couldn't bring himself to hate the slightly older male. He loved him too much, but eventually, he hoped he would be able to move on and find someone who cared for him in all the right ways. That was the only dream he had now as all the others had been crushed.

Twenty minutes of painfully slow washing later, Taehyung had to pull himself from the now cool waters and he nearly collapsed when his legs gave out on the floor. He bit his lower lip and willed himself to stand again despite how much it hurt. His feet lead him stiffly to the dresser so he could pull on a new pair of boxers and sweatpants as well as some socks. His next trip was to the closet where he pulled on a sweatshirt and tugged his two large suitcases from the very back of the closet. It probably took about thirty minutes for him to pack all his belongings considering he actually didn't have a whole lot. Some things he decided to leave behind because they were gifts from Jimin or didn't hold any significant value. Those items he left on the dirty bed.

He pulled on all his winter wear to prepare for the chilly walk he was sure to face when there was a soft knock on the door. Limping over to the wooden object, he slowly opened it, worrying his lower lip between his teeth. He managed to breathe a sigh of relief when he noticed it was just Jungkook. The young male, who was on his last year of high school, instantly surged forward to tug Taehyung into a crushing yet gentle hug, murmuring soft words of praise that had the older male crying again.

"I don't know if this is a good or bad thing, but Yoongi's apartment is on the same floor as yours. It is on the opposite side of the building, though, so the chances of you running into Jimin are really slim. It's also just temporary. If you can hold out for at least another three to four months, we can get an apartment together somewhere away from me. That it, unless you don't want to leave Yoongi's or already have a different place around that time." Jungkook whispered encouragingly before moving to grab both of the suitcases and Taehyung put on his backpack.

"Kookie, I don't know what I would do without you." He sniffled, glancing one last time around the small living area of his Jimin's apartment before following the younger male out. He couldn't tell if he was eager or regretful to leave so he just ignored the feeling growing in his stomach and decided to not think about it for the rest of the day. Good thing he was on his midwinter break (you got to choose based off your classes whether you wanted a spring or a midwinter break) so he wouldn't have to worry about bumping into Jimin on campus, not that they shared many classes, but it was still something Taehyung feared.

Tonight's activities had just been another fracture on his broken heart.
