Work Text:
Jeonghan glared over at Joshua, the younger immediately noticing.
“What’s wrong, Hannie?” Joshua asked, brushing back his hair.
Jeonghan glance back down at his music sheet. “You’ve written something on here.”
Joshua nodded. “Yeah, just a comment on your performing.” He stood up and left the room after that, leaving Jeonghan to stare at the sheet music.

When Seungcheol entered the practise room later that evening he found Jeonghan on the floor, still staring at the sheet of music in his hands.
“Uh… Hannie, you good?” Seungcheol asked, dropping down his bag.
“No.” Jeonghan replied shortly, still not looking up from the sheet. “Joshua wrote ‘try better’ on my music sheet. Does he not think I can sing? Does he think I’m not trying as hard as the rest of the group?”
Seungcheol sighed. “Hannie, he probably didn’t mean it.”
“But I asked him earlier and he told me it was just a comment on my performing.” Jeonghan cried, tears welling up in his eyes.
“Then talk to him about it. Maybe it’s as just a misunderstanding.” Seungcheol suggested, grabbing his bag and leaving the room.

“I don’t like what you wrote on my sheet.” Jeonghan confronted Joshua later that night once the kids were all asleep.
Joshua glanced up from his glass of wine. “What do you mean?”
“I don’t like it. It’s insulting.” Jeonghan scowled.
Joshua just shot his an odd look. “Have you had too much to drink?”
Jeonghan gasped. “Are you even my friend anymore. Seriously. I don’t like your attitude.”
“Baby, calm down.” Joshua yelled. “I haven’t done anything wrong.”
“Yes you have. And if you’re going to be like this fine. I don’t want to be with you anymore. You can sleep in someone else’s room tonight. I don’t want to see your face again.” Jeonghan growled, not even looking at Joshua.
“Are you breaking up with me? What did I even do?”
“Yes, I’m breaking up with you. And you know exactly what you did.” Jeonghan suddenly broke into tears and rushed off to what used to be their shared bedroom.
Joshua simply started after him, mouth open.
After a minute he put his glass down and walked off to the China line’s bedroom, knowing Jun and Minghao would be in the same bed so there would be one spare.
He was right, the two were cuddled together, Minghao fast asleep and Jun simply watching him.
“Sorry to disturb, but I just got kicked out of my room and I’d quite like to sleep here.”
“Go ahead.” Jun whispered, nodding his head towards the bed.
Joshua bowed in thanks before getting into Jun’s empty bed and silently crying himself to sleep.

“Hey, Joshua, can you stay behind for a few minutes. I just want a word.” Hoshi called out while everyone was packing up their dance bags to head back to the dorms.
Joshua nodded and sat down on the couch to wait for everyone to leave.
Once everyone had done so, Hoshi stood up in from of Joshua. He sighed. “What’s going on, Shua?”
“What do you mean?”
“I’ve just noticed your performance is a bit off. You seem a bit distracted. Is there anything I can do?”
Joshua shook his head. “No. I’m fine. I’ll try better, Hoshi.” He stood and bowed. “Thank you.”
—————————
They were just getting undressed after a performance when it happened.
Joshua pulled on his comfy clothes and sat down, head in hands.
“Shua.” Seungcheol called out, moving closer to the American. “Are you alright?”
Joshua looked up with tears in his eyes.
“No I’m not alright. Jeonghan broke up with me and I have no idea why and I’m getting distracted and I’m not performing my best. It’s hell.”
Joshua saw Jeonghan leave the room while Seungcheol tried to comfort the crying American.
Joshua was curled up against Seungcheol, Jun had joined in comforting him when Jeonghan came back in.
“Look, Joshua.” Jeonghan dropped the sheet of music into Joshua’s lap. “You wrote ‘try better’ on my music sheet. That’s insulting.”
Joshua cried harder. “No, I wrote ‘you’re doing better’ on your sheet.”
Jeonghan sighed. “Oh. I think you made a spelling mistake.”
Joshua glanced at the sheet before jumping up and hugged Jeonghan tightly. “I’m so sorry. I made a mistake. I thought you were angry for no reason. I didn’t check what I wrote.”
“It’s okay.” Jeonghan chuckled softly, placing a soft kiss on Joshua’s lips. “It was a mistake. Mistakes happen.”
Joshua joined in Jeonghan’s soft chuckling and wiped away his tears. “I’m sorry. I won’t do that again.”
“It’s alright, Shua. And I hope that break up doesn’t count.” Jeonghan whispered, hands on Joshua’s waist.
“Of course not, baby.” Joshua smiled, kissing Jeonghan warmly but quickly.
“Alright.” Seungcheol clapped his hands together. “Now that everyone’s happy, let’s go get some well earned rest.”
Everyone cheered and filed out of the room, Joshua and Jeonghan yet again joined at the hip.
