Bond Conversation

Summary:

Just a short drabble of Rey having a nightmare.

Work Text:

"For fucks sake, Rey, wake up." He demanded, his voice sharp and angry in her mind.

She forced herself awake, swinging her legs over the side of the bed and coming face to face with his exhausted scowl.

"We don't stand a chance at breaking this bond if you keep reaching out to me." He breathed, pushing his figures through his hair and pacing the space in front of her.

She pushed her palms roughly into her eyes, trying to erase all memory of the nightmare that had been plaguing her sleep. "I'm sorry." She whispered, forcing the tears from her eyes. "I'm able to control it when I'm awake..." She trailed off, her chest heaving from the terror in her dream. "I haven't been doing this as long as you have."

Ben took a deep, thoughtful breath. "The wars been over for almost a year now. I just don't want to be the one keeping your from some semblance of a normal life."

Her expression twisted into annoyance, her eyes finding his. "Is that why you left? Because you thought being without you would make my life better?" She seemed outraged at the possibility.

Ben scoffed, looking around the room as if waiting for her to let on that she'd been joking. "You can't honestly be asking me that." He said. "Thought you were smart."

Her eyes narrowed further and she pushed to her feet. "Why do you think I cared so much about pulling you away from the dark?" She asked, daring him to answer her honestly.

"Because I was the puppet master controlling the army that would've slaughtered your friends." He replied quickly.

Her expression softened, pain clear in her hazel eyes. "Because I knew you were so much more then Snoke led you to believe." She took an unsteady breath, looking at her hands as she wrung them nervously in front of her. "Because I wanted a life with you when this was all over."

Ben's eyes flashed, stepping into her space until they were barely inches apart. "I'm the reason you spent months fearing for your life. I tried to kill -." She cut him off before he could continue.

"I don't believe you ever would have." She whispered.
