Mari has never told anyone her secret, the secret that she was a magical girl, but instead of your colorful high school heroine, you got miserable girls that are constantly being hunted by other magical girls for their powers.

Mari was not the exception.

Notes:

It’s been a while since I’ve read Mahou Shoujo Site, so sorry if I get anything wrong.

Work Text:

There was blood on her hands.

This was the third time a magical girl attempted to kill her.

Mari has been hiding a secret from her family and friends.

She was a magical girl.

She remembers watching Sailor Moon and Sakura Card Captor with Aubrey, Basil and Hero while Kel and Sunny were running around the house because they thought it was a girls show, she remembers attempting the moves that Sailor Moon did when she transformed with Aubrey. It’s been three years since then, now she was a fifteen year old carrying the burden of having a valuable magical object that only other miserable girls know about.

She clearly remembers the message she got from her computer the night her own mother slapped her because she forgot to study. “Our site will send you a magical wand you poor and unfortunate soul.” She remembers finding a shiny knife in her locker with a letter that said. “To cut the veil between dreams and reality.” She remembers getting beaten up by the girls that constantly bullied her. She remembers slashing at one of them in the with the knife, opening a portal that sent all of them into what she would later know was the world where the dreams of the people resided. She remembers blood pouring from her eyes and a mark with the shape of an eye in her wrist.

Apparently, all the miserable girls in the world receive a magical wand once in their life and she wasn’t a rare case. Or at least that’s what a girl said to her before said girl attempted to kill her with an axe, luckily her wand proved to be quite useful in a fight.

She now finds herself looking at the bloody corpse of another girl, a girl she killed in self defense.

Mari knew she had to leave her house in order to protect her family and friends, one of the girls travelled from another city in order to get her wand so she didn’t know the lengths that others may go in order to get one extra wand.

…

Tomorrow was the recital, the goddamn recital that has been making her life more of a hell than it already was. She and Sunny have been practicing all day, the stress of overthinking what would happen if another girl decided to infiltrate into her house and threaten the life of her own brother and the thought that everything had to be perfect was making her give harsh comments to every mistake that Sunny made.

Sunny threw his violin down stairs, the violin that their friends saved for. Mari saw red and lashed out at Sunny.

Sunny pushed her down stairs.

…

Mari woke up feeling an ache in her entire body, she found herself laying on her bed with Sunny laying down besides her. She was about to wake him up when a thought crossed her mind. Maybe, this is my only chance. She grabbed one of the three wands she hid in her drawer. It was a chisel that could make lifeless copies of a person, she cut herself with it and a copy of her appeared. She laid the copy on her bed and grabbed her knife. She opened a small portal close to Sunny’s head and whispered. “Sunny, please, forgive yourself.” She grabbed some money and clothes and stored them in the infinite backpack of one of the girls she killed. She opened a portal with her knife, ready to never return again.

…

Mari had been walking through the dreams of unknown people for hours to the point that the dreams know where in a language she couldn’t understand so she grabbed her knife and sliced open a portal. She was in a big city she couldn’t recognize, it was late so she hid herself in an alley and curled herself near a wall, ready to drift off to sleep.

…

She suddenly woke up by the sound of steps, her body was still sore but she stood up and looked at who belonged those footsteps. It was a girl with pink hair and glasses carrying a big pink hammer. Mari pointed her wand at the girl and got ready to fight.

…

She was overpowered by the magical girl hunter that presented herself as Rina Shioio, she was laying on the ground slowly losing consciousness after being hit in the head with the hammer, Rina was laughing maniacally and got closer in order to finish the job. “I-I’m sorry guys, at least I was able to protect you.” Was the last thing that Mari could mutter before she got her head smashed by Rina.
