Work Text:
Despite what Tim told Conner about sleeping better around him being true, Tim was still awake before him.
Not wanting to wake up Kon, he stays where he is, in Conner’s bed, with said boy pressed up against his back.
Tim lets his mind run wild, relishing in the time he has until he has to get up.
The team knows now. Well, like Kon said last night, they probably already knew for a while or at least suspected.
As soon as one of them leaves this room, they would likely be bombarded with questions and shovel-parallel talks by their friends.
With the time he has to himself, Tim tries to prepare.
Lost in thought, he barely notices when Conner stirs beside him.
“G’morning,” Kon mumbles, over Tim’s shoulder, pulling him close by the arms he had wrapped around Tim’s waist.
“Morning,” Tim managed to turn himself around in his boyfriend’s arms, wincing slightly at the pressure on his shoulder.
“We’re gonna have to get up soon. Mission reports to write, lectures to sit through.”
Tim receives a groan in response. “Can’t we just stay here all day? It’s more comfortable and much more interesting.
Conner leans into Tim, being careful of his shoulder, for a kiss, only for Tim to turn his face to the side.
“Nuh uh. Morning breath.”
Tim slowly moves out of Conner’s hold and Conner lets him, probably to protect his shoulder.
“Come back,” Kon groans from the bed, waving his arm lazily, keeping his eyes closed.
Tim doesn’t respond, instead, walking to the bathroom connected to the room, and brushing his teeth with the spare toothbrush Tim had left for cases like this.
By the time he turns back to the bed, Conner is sitting up.
“If you brush your teeth before I leave, I’ll give you a goodbye kiss.”
Tim smiles at Conner, watching him slowly make his way to the sink.
Once Tim hears the faucet run, he starts removing various parts of his uniform, carefully folding each piece and placing it into a neat pile, until he’s left in his boxers.
He glances back towards the bathroom, only to meet Conner’s interested gaze.
Tim is immediately struck with the thought to cover himself up, quickly becoming self-conscious of his scars, his pale skin, and his smaller-than-average-for-a-hero frame. But before he can grab any part of his discarded suit, Conner smiles at him, toothbrush hanging from his mouth, and goes back to facing the mirror.
Tim looks down, hoping his face isn’t bright red. He makes his way over to Conner’s closet, pulling 2 identical black shirts off of their hangers, pulling one of them over his head.
A small smile finds its way to his face at the realization that the shirt meets the middle of his thighs.
He goes to the drawer where he knows Conner keeps various pairs of the same pants.
Tim lays the shirt and pants on the bed for Conner. “You know, it’s kind of weird that you basically only have duplicates of one outfit as your entire wardrobe. It would be one thing if it was just for here, but I’ve pretty much just seen you in this, the 90s outfit, and slight variations of your farm boy flannel.”
Conner rinses his mouth and sets his toothbrush back in the holder before looking at Tim. He smirks when he sees Tim’s slim frame in contrast to his shirt.
He nods towards Tim, “Doesn't seem like you’re in a position to complain.”
Tim rolls his eyes. “I’ve decided that I’m going to stay in civics around the mountain today.
“You’re telling me that you’re going to do important Young Justice business looking like that?”
Tim snorts in response. “Of course not. I just needed something to wear before I go back to change into something that doesn’t make me feel so… exposed. And after sleeping in my suit, I don’t think I can stand another minute in it.”
Conner takes the 3 steps in between the two of them, pulling Tim in for a kiss.
It’s a short kiss, Tim pulls away before it can get heated, knowing that they don’t have much time before someone from the team comes looking for them.
“Minty,” Conner says with a laugh once they break apart from a second kiss.
Tim laughs, pushing Conner back playfully. “Go on and get dressed.”
Kon looks back over his shoulder at the clothes Tim laid out for him. “As you so nicely pointed out, my clothes all look exactly the same. No one would notice if I just kept these clothes on.”
Tim wrinkles his nose. “That may be true, but I put all of that effort into getting those clothes for you. It’s hard work, you know.”
“I’m so sorry. You’re right.”
He’s about to say something else in response, but Kon lifts his shirt above his head, haphazardly tossing it towards his hamper.
Tim, carefully keeping his heartbeat in check, and turns around, forcing his eyes to trace the texture on the wall.
Conner’s laughs flowed from behind Tim. “Seriously,” Conner continues doing a very bad job at concealing his chuckles.
“Tim, we’re dating. I don’t mind if you see me shirtless.”
Tim continues tracing the patterns. “I know. But it’s probably a good idea for you to change your… undergarments as well.”
Oh god. Tim wants to curl up into a ball and hide himself from the world. Or just Conner. When did he become so awkward?
Conner lets out another laugh, and Tim just knows that he’s shaking his head.
“I wouldn’t mind if you saw that either.”
He wants to glare at Conner but doesn’t turn around.
“C’mon. I could give you a show,” he says it with a laugh, but it still makes Tim turn red again.
Tim groans and puts his face in his hands, still facing the wall. “I’ll leave. And you won’t get another kiss for the rest of the day.”
He hears Conner gasp from behind him. “You’re withholding kisses from me? Tim. Tim, think about this. You don’t want to do this. I’ll be good I promise.”
Despite himself, Tim lets out a light chuckle. “Dork.”
Tim feels a light kiss on the back of his neck, right below his hairline. “Your dork.”
He takes Conner’s touch as a sign that he’s done changing and finally turns to face his boyfriend.
Conner's arms wrap around Tim's waist and pull Tim closer, leaning down until his face was only a couple inches from Tim's.
"Are you really not going to kiss me all day?" It's barely above a whisper.
Before Tim can offer a response, Conner leans down, kissing Tim's jaw. And then behind his ear. And then lips are on Tim's neck, causing Tim's brain to stop, just for a second.
Conner pulls back, still keeping Tim close.
"So, that kiss?"
Tim rolls his eyes with a huff, but can't hide the smile on his face. Though, he really isn't trying to.
"You're so spoiled."
Tim tilts his head upwards and meets Conner's lips. The kiss lasts longer than Tim expected, every time he pulls back, Conner lens forward to keep the contact between them.
With a laugh, Tim pulls back again, this time succeeding.
"I. personally," Conner starts giving Tim one more kiss and tightening his arms around Tim before letting go. "think that this is a great way to start every morning."
Tim picks up the pile of his Robin costume and says, "You'd get sick of me within a week."
He turns back around just in time to see Kon exasperatingly throw his arms up. "Impossible!"
"Yeah, sure. I'm gonna head to my room now to get changed and hopefully get some work done."
Conner leans in for one last peck. "Later, babe."
Tim opens the door to leave but is met with an antsy Bart.
"Soyouguysarefinallydating!"
Tim sighs. "Slow down, Bart. It's too early for your speed talking."
Bart's smile doesn't dim a bit as he grabs Tim's arm. When Tim opens his eyes, he's in the common area. "I said 'So you guys are finally dating!'"
Tim takes a second to stop his world from spinning. "Bart! What have we all told you about just grabbing people and running!"
"Ummm... not to do it?"
"Exactly!"
"Well, it's not my fault. Cassie asked me to get you once you left Conner's room. She said something about a shovel talk. I'm not 100% sure what that means."
Tim groans, falling back on the couch. "She wants to lecture Conner and I about dating. I wouldn't be surprised if it involves a threat."
"Oooh. Okay. Well, she didn't say that I couldn't also give you one while she talks to your boyfriend."
Tim looks up Bart. "You're going to give me a shovel talk? Whatever. Can you at least get me a pair of glasses. It looks like I'm going to be here for a while and B still doesn't want me around the base in full civies."
"No problem," there's a small wind before an extended hand with Tim's backup pair of sunglasses appears before him.
"Thanks. Now, since I doubt you know how nor want to give me a shovel talk, would you like to settle for asking me what you want to know?"
Bart tilts his head to the side for a second, seemingly considering Tim's offer, before smiling and speeding to Tim's side. "Sure!"
As Tim slips the glasses on, Bart starts asking him his question.
"Okay, so how long have you guys been dating?"
Tim is legitimately surprised with how tame and simple Bart's question is. "Around 2 and half weeks."
"Okay. I had money on it being earlier. I owe Cassie $10."
Tim rolls his eyes. "I honestly didn't expect anything else."
"I see you got Tim like I asked."
Tim turns his head to see Cassie enter the room.
Bart zips to her side. "Uh huh. Be right back," Bart returns a second later, handing a $10 bill to Cassie.
"You were right. Tim says they've only been dating for less than 3 weeks. I was sure they got together the day Conner got back from visiting the farm."
"They're not that good at hiding things from us," Cassie turns to Tim.
"I've already talked to Conner, and I'm sure he'll talk to you about our conversation but I'll still give you the basic rundown: It's still just as important to make smart decisions in the field, I don't want your relationship to get in the way. At the same time, I trust both of you to be responsible. Lastly, I'm not your marriage counselor; don't put me in the middle of your couple arguments."
Tim rolls his eyes. "You sound like B. Minus the trust part."
Cassie lets a small smile slip. "Maybe so. But either way, we're happy for you."
