Work Text:
Marinette was dizzy. She’d been so worried about her first public appearance as Adrien’s girlfriend and now she wasn’t sure what had seemed so scary. She was having the time of her life.
Because Adrien was as well. And his pure joy and enthusiasm were contagious.
They had been dancing all night and he had been as lively as she’d seen him only when they were being silly during patrol. She was sure this wasn’t his usual mood at social gatherings. He’d told her in the past how boring and monotone they could be when he had to be polite and talk to people about random things that were far from interesting.
Now he had her and it made her glow with pride knowing that he let go because she was there with him. To her, he was his usual uninhibited self, but she was sure that to most people it was like seeing him for the very first time. She knew how shocking the difference could be.
She could almost imagine him starting doing backflips in the middle of the dancefloor but of course he didn’t. He was enjoying himself but he was still aware of his limits. He was having more fun than usual with her, that much was clear, but he still knew when to stop.
After a whirlwind of catchy tunes that had him twirling her around as she giggled and blushed profusely, it was finally time for a slow dance. As much as she loved having fun with him, just swaying in his arms to a soothing melody held equal appeal to her.
He looked dashing, of course, and she couldn’t take her eyes off him. She was one lucky girl.
The strange thing was that he was looking at her as if he was the lucky one. As if he couldn’t believe that he got to show her off, to boast that this girl in fact loved him. It was so clear in his eyes that she felt her cheeks heat up once again. He really wore his heart on his sleeve.
“You make even the most tiresome events entertaining, m’lady,” he whispered in her ear as he pulled her closer and she rested her head on his shoulder.
“You totally tired me out, I’m not sure I would be able to walk tomorrow,” she giggled.
“Are your shoes uncomfortable?” He asked, instantly concerned and she felt her heart swell with love.
“No, kitty, they are fine. I just had a lot of fun and didn’t want to sit down the whole evening. But I don’t regret any aches I might have in the future. It’s worth it,” she smiled up at him.
His gaze softened even more and she felt the familiar swarm of butterflies in her belly. She loved him so much.
A hand cradled the back of her head and she saw him look at her questioningly for a second, before she smiled and he leaned in. Always the gentlemen, she thought as his lips touched hers. Always making sure that she was comfortable.
If he didn’t care about the eyes on them, she didn’t as well. Everyone else disappeared anyway the moment he kissed her. Nothing else mattered when he was there with her. She melted in his arms, his familiar scent engulfed her and the touch of his lips and his taste overwhelmed her whole being. She couldn’t imagine a more perfect ending to a great night.
She really was the luckiest girl in the world.
