Work Text:
Velvet pulled up behind Safeword, bringing the large garbage truck to a hold inside of the club's underground parking garage. She killed the engine and hopped out of the driver's cab.
"Alright, here's the truck you wanted, now what?" She asked the newest member of the Saints, Viola DeWynter, who had asked the Boss to steal one of the city's garbage trucks for her.
"You'll see," she didn't elaborate, "what about the driver?"
"Shot him," the redhead shrugged.
"Good, open up the back for me," Viola instructed.
Velvet wasn't sure if she wanted to do that, however, "You really want the smelly garbage pouring out here?"
"It's alright, go ahead and pop it open, trust me."
Vivi didn't like it when she was told to do stuff without explanation, but proceeded to disengage the closing mechanism on the rear of the truck, allowing her to open up the lid on the back. She prepared herself to be met with the awful smell of trash and rotting food, however, all she saw within the truck's interior was a couple of neatly stacked boxes that were held together by zip ties.
"What's this?" She was confused at what she saw, no garbage whatsoever, it didn't stink either. The inside of the tank was squeaky clean.
"This is one of the Luchadores' shipments," Viola finally revealed as she walked up to Velvet and put her hands on her hips when she stopped next to her..
Velvet realized what was going on, "No shit, they're using garbage trucks to transport their stuff across town undetected?"
"Pretty much, it's not just them, Morningstar did it too. We used them to move weapon shipments and other product," the black haired woman explained.
Vivi was a bit surprised by the revelation, "You're telling me this entire time I've been watching the Syndicate move all this shit right under my nose?"
"Well, yeah. Don't tell me you never questioned the large amounts of garbage trucks you've seen in this city, and yet there is still trash littering the streets everywhere," Viola crossed her arms.
"Wait, so every truck out there is just used for smuggling shit?"
"Not all of them, no, but a decent amount."
That just raised more questions for the redhead, "So how'd you know this one had drugs in it?"
"Oh, I didn't, it was pure luck," the former Morningstar unfolded her arms and shrugged.
"So you lied to me, I could have been showered in garbage when I opened this thing!" Vivi was annoyed with the other woman for misleading her like that, "You gotta be shitting me!"
Viola just smirked at the Boss' reaction, "Yeah, I am. There's no municipal trucks out during this time of day, all trucks at this hour should be shipments in disguise."
Velvet turned to face her and stepped closer towards the girl, "Enough with the secretiveness already, just tell me what I have to know."
"Stop being dramatic, I just wanted to brighten the mood a little, "Viola sighed, her voice back to business, "I understand you know what I wanted to show you today?"
"Yeah, we can hurt their drug running operations by taking out the garbage trucks that are out on the street at this time," Velvet concluded.
"Bingo, but we should be smart about it, if you just start blowing up and stealing their shipments, it won't be long until they're onto us and change their strategy," Viola advised, "they might even set traps if they see a pattern in our attacks."
"Right, I'll run all this Pierce later, see if he can come up with a good way of intercepting their runners without drawing too much attention," the redhead nodded, "what about this shipment here in the meantime?"
The former Morningstar shrugged again, "Eh, we could distribute it upstairs, add some spice."
"I'll leave that up to you then, as long as the Luchadores don't have it, you could snort it yourself for all I care," Velvet walked past Viola, making her way towards the elevator, but then stopped.
"Good work, Viola," Vivi complimented her newest lieutenant.
It would still take her some time to get used to working together with her former enemy, but her initial negative opinions about the woman were starting to be replaced with a sense of trust and mutual understanding. She had to admit, this garbage truck information would do more to hurt the Luchadores than anything Angel had done for the Saints so far.
"Thanks, Boss, I'll have someone help me unload it," the black haired woman called over her shoulder with a warm smile on her face.
She wasn't used to receiving compliments for her work. Phillipe had always been strictly about business with them, Killbane was an ungrateful asshole. and the other Saints always met her with a level of resentfulness and distrust, but the Boss was different, she could be surprisingly professional and even kind, traits the former Morningstar had not expected from the Stilwater Butcher.
It were small moments such as these that made her not regret defecting to the purple gang, maybe she would have a future with the Saints afterall.
