Chapter Text
"And then the tigerdillo tamer stuck his head so far down Ming's throat that half his body was in his mouth and throat! But get this! Even though Ming easily could have chewed and swallowed his tamer right then and there, he spit him out and began licking him! It was so cute!"
Ty Lee and Mai were searching for Sokka and Katara after they had split off from Azula who was going after the Avatar. Ty Lee was using the time to catch up with Mai. Mai didn’t seem to have much to say, so Ty Lee kept the discussion going by talking about her time in the circus.
“Uh, okay. That’s...interesting,” replied Mai. She wasn’t all that interested in what the acrobat was saying, but at least it gave her something to help curb her boredom. Twirling around knives while riding a mongoose dragon was not a wise idea when the owner of said mongoose dragon would electrocute her if she accidentally dropped a knife on the poor creature.
“Oh, you have such pretty stones, Raven! The patterns are exquisite!” exclaimed Starfire. She had expressed interest in Raven’s collection of charms and other magical trinkets and Raven decided that Starfire, unlike Beast Boy, was responsible enough to be allowed to be in her room. Supervised of course.
“Yeah, they are pretty cool looking. But they’re kept in this case for a reason,” replied Raven.
“Oh, what is that over there?” Starfire headed over to Raven’s bed. The corner of a book was sticking out from behind the pillow.
“Wait! Starfire! Don’t touch that!” exclaimed Raven. She rushed over to intercept Starfire, but ended up stepping on her cloak and falling forwards onto the ground. The lid to the case she was holding was still open and the stones went flying into the air and scattered around the room. Starfire gasped and quickly went to Raven.
“Are you alright? Do you need a bandage?” she asked as she helped Raven up.
“I’m fine, just forgot that running while wearing a cloak isn’t a great idea,” responded Raven as she rubbed her elbow.
“Your stones are all over your floor now. I’ll help you pick them up!”
Before Raven could object, Starfire had bent down and picked up a stone. Suddenly, black crackling magic began to emit from it. It expanded rapidly until it engulfed both of them.
“If only the strongman’s pants were as strong as he was, because they couldn’t take him lifting that heavy-huh?” Ty Lee was telling Mai yet another story about her life in the circus when she realized that the two of them were no longer riding their mongoose dragons. Not only that, they weren’t even outside anymore. They were in a room with two girls about the same age as them.
“Did I fall asleep from boredom?” asked Mai. She pinched herself, but the setting didn’t change.
“You’re not asleep,” said Raven. “You were transported here. I’m afraid getting you back may not be possible.”
Mai and Ty Lee’s expressions turned from confused to horrified.
“But, there is still a chance. Right Raven?” asked Starfire.
“Yes there is,” answered Raven. “It’s slim, but it’s there.
“Okay, I’m more confused than I’ve been since I was in math class years ago. Could you please tell us who you are, and how we got here?” asked Ty Lee. The whole situation was too much for her to take in, and she was getting exasperated.
“Of course! Our sincerest apologies if we came across as rude. I am Starfire, and this is Raven!”
“I’m Ty Lee, and this is Mai. You both seem like friendly girls. You didn’t poof us here to hurt us, did you?”
“No, we didn’t intend this to happen at all. I could give you the short answer, but if you want to get back to where you came from, it would help if you knew more about the magic involved,” said Raven.
“I’m not in any rush. Lay it on us,” declared Mai.
