"That one is far too green for my liking!" Cloud exclaimed, pointing a gloved finger at the fern in front.
Sephiroth stood next to him, arms crossed and face partially obscured by a red scarf. Cloud's face was flushed with both the cold winter air, and general annoyance.
"Christmas trees are usually green, Cloud."
"Yes, but this one is so green it looks artificial - I want a real tree this year! The last time I had one of the fake ones and Zack was able to break one of the branches just by hanging a bauble!" Cloud huffed, his arms crossing alike his lover's.
Sephiroth smirked under his scarf, "Mm, perhaps your bauble was too heavy." He then noticed another tree "What about this one?"
The blonde spun around, his boots squeaking against the concrete, ahead was a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, topped with a porcelain angel.
"Seph, that's gorgeous. Exactly what we need!"
Sephiroth took a step closer towards the tree, "I shall buy this one then, if that's what you want." He grabbed a cardboard box containing a replica of the fir with his mittens, forgetting their lack of grip the silverette accidentally pushed the box forward causing a cascading domino effect on the previously stacked boxes, each toppling over into one another.
Cloud stood in uttermost shock, Sephiroth was many things but incompetent at picking up a cardboard box wasn't something that resided with him.
Sephiroth uncharacteristically yelped as the final box rammed straight into the decorated display tree, it was only a matter of seconds before the smashing of glass ornaments could be heard, tinsel falling in heaps and the angel decoration shattering.
The pair ran over to the destruction, attracting the attention of shoppers who'd just witnessed the accident.
"That didn't go so well." Sephiroth stated impassively.
Cloud frowned, "An understatement much?"
The silverette's attention however fell to now broken porcelain angel on the concrete ground.
"One of the wings has snapped off, it should be fixable." He turned back to a now infuriated Cloud, chuckling at his tomato-like face.
The commotion had resulted in an employee running over in panic, "What on Gaia happened here?!"
Cloud rolled his eyes, "Sephiroth here knocked over your tree display."
The employee anxiously ran a hand through his hair, "I guess we can replace it, just hope boss doesn't mind..."
"Oh, and Seph's paying compensation."
Cloud nudged the taller man, his frustration fading into a smug expression. Sephiroth half smiled, "How much will it be?" He fumbled in his coat pocket and brought out his wallet,
The employee nodded "That'll be.......um let's see here" he began to mentally calculate the prices of each ornament "Considering the price of......ah! You owe me 75 Gil."
Sephiroth's eyes widened slightly.
"Go on then, Sephy" Cloud gave him an affectionate push forward,
"Uh, yes" He brought out the money and gave it to the expectant employee.
"Thank you, sir!".

Back at their apartment, Cloud and Sephiroth sat on the couch nearby the large tree that had been decorated with lights, baubles and silver tinsel. After the mishap, the festive shop had allowed the pair to receive a free tree, that wasn't actually free considering the hefty fee Sephiroth had paid.
"What.......is that?" Cloud elbowed the taller man.
"What's what?"
"Hang on, is that the angel that broke?"
Sephiroth smiled, "Maybe."
Cloud snuggled closer, allowing Sephiroth to gently caress his cheek, "Did you steal it?"
The silverette raised an eyebrow, "I would never do such a thing."
Cloud chuckled, "Yeah right."
"Would you like a glass of supermarket prosecco?" Sephiroth offered, "I'm saving the fancy prosecco for Christmas Eve and the extra fancy prosecco for Christmas Day."
"Honestly you. If you don't mind that would be great, thank you Seph" The blonde returned his smile,
Sephiroth placed a kiss on his forehead to which Cloud pecked his lips.
Sephiroth then stood up, "I shall fetch the drinks. Thank you for suffering the embarrassment of your boyfriend decapitating a tree."
Cloud smiled, "Ah, don't worry."
"Merry Christmas."
"And to you Sephiroth, and to you."
