“What’s on your mind, Jim?” Spock’s spoke, piercing the quiet and tranquility of their shared quarters. Spock's professional facade was gone as he laid in bed with the other man, allowing himself the chance to be just a little bit more human. Their legs tangled as Jim’s cold toes pressed into hot flesh, and Spock didn’t mind at all. His hand still tangled in outgrown blonde hair and Spock resisted the urge to pull him impossibly closer. To close the distance between their lips once more and kiss the man before him. Jim’s gaze still soft as his eyes fluttered, and Spock counted the number of times those magnificent blue eyes hid from him behind impossibly long eyelashes..
One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six.
Jim smiled, his eyes crinkling with mirth. The freckles that were scattered on his face like stars seemed to almost dance. Jim leaned forward, goosebumps boiling to the surface of his spine as their legs brushed with untouched flesh. Warmth replaced cold and Jim couldn’t help but shiver as he moved closer to Spock. “You.” Jim whispered back, his gaze falling for just a moment before Spock’s free hand caressed his cheek. The mere touch was enough to quell the torrent winds that wreaked havoc in his mind. “How much I love you.” his breath catching in his throat as Spock’s eyes softened only slightly around his eyes. A miniscule movement, but to Jim, it spoke volumes. Spock’s raw emotions on display right now as his eyebrows lowered a half a centimeter. Jim’s heart beating erratically in his chest, his hand coming up to cover Spock’s as he leaned into the familiar touch; Spock’s emotions bubbling into the surface of his mind. Not intense or deep enough to be a meld, but enough that surface emotions were transferable.
And all Jim felt was love; blinding, unfiltered, pure love, radiating from Spock’s mind into his. Waves of emotions that even Jim did not have a word for them. Intense love and joy and happiness and comfortability crashed softly into his mind. And so Jim continued, allowing himself just a moment more to bask in the glow of Spock’s beautiful mind. “How much you love me.” He added, and the corners of Spock’s lips turned upwards in a small smile. And Jim could feel a smile of his own begin to form. “I didn’t think it was possible to be able to love someone as much as I love you.” Jim whispered as he pushed down the all too familiar feeling of dread and doubt. Spock’s hand turned out to firmly grasp Jim’s hand. The pads of their fingers sliding against the others as it sent goosebumps down Jim’s spine. Long fingers ghosting over his palm and setting his nerves on fire.
“Jim.” His name falling from Spock’s mouth like a whispered prayer, emotions conveyed and delivered in such a simple word that it made Jim fall in love with him even more. A promise to spend the rest of their days with each other. A promise of morning kisses and their nighttime routine. “Ashau nash-veh tu.” Spock continued, his hand cupping Jim’s as he brought it to his lips. Jim’s hand was cold, but warmth soon blossomed where his flesh met Spock’s lips. Spock moved ever slowly across Jim’s hand, he was on his own personal mission to kiss every part of Jim’s extremity.
“S-Spock.” Jim stuttered out, watching as Spock’s gaze locked with his, and he smiled.
“Ah. yes.” Spock’s voice was like honey as the words seemed to stick to Jim’s conscious mind and he had no knowledge on how to remove it, nor did he want it to. “My apologies, captain. ” his lips parting from Jim’s now burning hand all too quickly. His hand on his shoulder as he softly pushed Jim onto his back. The man gave a quick inhale in surprise as Spock’s lips pressed against the side of his throat. “How thoughtless of me not to give attention to other parts of your… anatomy.” Spock finished, and Jim’s eyes rolled back into his skull at the word.
“Spock.” Jim’s voice coming out in short gasps as Spock’s lips pressed against the column of his throat. “I love you.” He voiced a loud, Spock’s lips traveling up to his ear. “I love you.” Jim repeated, willing his voice to stay steady. The feat was almost impossible as Spock’s other hand came up to caress Jim’s cheek, pulling him closer to him. And Jim hated that his mind likened the whole situation to that of a vampire.
Spock chuckled, his laugh a sweet melody to Jim’s ears as he pulled away from his current task. Hot breath still lingering against Jim’s flesh as Spock's lips brushed against his ear. “I would not be opposed to biting you if that is what you wish.” He whispered and Jim didn’t need a mirror to know how red his face had become. Instead of dignifying Spock with any form of response to the now very vivid image his brain concocted, he turned his head and pulled Spock into a kiss. Spock’s body a comfortable weight against him as they kissed, legs still tangled together underneath the blankets that Jim brought with him from Iowa. And although they did not meet current Star Fleet regulations, he found that they were much more comfortable than the ones that were.
Spock parted their lips for only a moment, “I love you.” He said, Jim smiling wide beneath him. Blond disheveled hair and wide blue eyes and flushed cheeks and freckles that danced. And Spock committed the image to his memory. The way Jim’s lips were still slightly parted, breath slightly labored as Jim reached up and wrapped his arms around Spock’s neck.
“I love you.” He spoke, pulling him back down for another kiss. And another. And another. Until the kisses slowed and their eyelids grew heavy. Where they have a final kiss and a whispered, “Good night” declaration.
