Work Text:

Yeosang ran his hands through his hair, grimacing when it stayed back because of how greasy it was. He would’ve been more concerned if his brain wasn’t already busy mulling over the amount of work he still had left to do. His stomach was rumbling and his throat was dry, but he ignored it all and prayed that his creative juices started flowing and that they started flowing soon. He should’ve really been paying attention when Yunho was nagging Mingi about his pending work by literally shouting tips at him, but tuning them out was an involuntary response he’d developed a long, long time ago.

He was startled out of his thoughts when a pack of bungeoppang hit him in the head. “Eat that, you fucking idiot. Can’t believe you’ve been running on an empty stomach all day. Dumbass.”

Yeosang rolled his eyes at Wooyoung’s antics and took a bite out of the head. “Just say you were worried about me.”

“And what if I was, asshole? What are you gonna do about it?” Wooyoung took his dirty socks off aggressively and threw them on Yeosang’s bed, knowing it would piss the other off.

“Jesus Christ, do you ever stop talking? Thank you.” Yeosang turned away from him and devoured the rest of the pastry.

“The others kept asking about you. Maybe pull yourself out of your mountain of textbooks and come out with us sometime. They miss you.”

Yeosang resisted the urge to roll his eyes again. “Do I look like I’m having the time of my life here? I don’t want to be drowned in assignments either.”

He looked to his side where Wooyoung was pulling on his pajamas. “Well, at least take better care of yourself. None of us have the money for a funeral and Yunho would rather bury you himself than sell his Xbox.”

Yeosang just motioned for him to be quiet and got back to work. He heard a huff behind him but ignored it in favour of finishing his paper.

“Yeo. Yeosang. Light of my life.”

One of Yeosang’s hands clenched into a fist as he resisted the urge to throw the nearest solid thing at Wooyoung.

“What?” He might as well have yelled.

Wooyoung shot him a faux sweet smile. “Could you be a dear and get me some water? Walking all the way home almost killed me.”

Oh, I wish it had. Yeosang glared at him. “Are you fucking stupid? Didn’t I just tell you that I have a shit-ton of deadlines? Get up and get it yourself.”

Wooyoung’s mouth turned into a pout and he batted his eyelashes innocently. “But I’m tired and the bed is comfortable. If I get up now, I might collapse and you’ll have to take me to the hospital. Won’t that waste even more of your time?”

Yeosang really was the strongest person on Earth to put up with this shit everyday, wasn’t he? If God was real, he’d better be planning to reward him for his patience. He looked over at Wooyoung and gritted his teeth. “If you collapse, I'll go to church every Sunday to express my gratitude. Now kindly shut up and let me finish my work. Fucking hell.”

He returned his attention towards his laptop, tuning Wooyoung’s whining out as white noise.

Yeosang could only ignore the tossing and turning for a few more moments before he sighed and got up to fetch the idiot a glass of water. He placed it on the nightstand, right next to where Wooyoung’s head was turned away from him. He got back to his seat right on time as Wooyoung noticed the drink and guessed the other had sat up, judging from the rustling of his sheets.

Yeosang waited until it was quiet again to turn around and check on Wooyoung, only to find him staring back with a smirk on his face. Yeosang scoffed, turning to look at his document where he hadn’t added a single word since the other had walked in.

“How is everyone? Are Hongjoong and Seonghwa still fighting?” He tried to sound as nonchalant as possible, but he knew Wooyoung knew better.

“No. Well, at least it’s not as bad as it was last month. Seonghwa’s still upset, but you know he can’t stay mad at Joong for too long. And Hongjoong is trying to be better at communicating his feelings, we can all see it. They’ll be fine.”

Yeosang hummed, his back still facing Wooyoung. “What about San? He should be relieved now that he turned in his choreography, right?”

“San is San. He’s not going to relax until his grades are in. Yeosang-,” Wooyoung tried to go on but was quickly interrupted by Yeosang.

“And what about Jongho’s-,”

“Yeosang, please. Jesus fucking Christ. You would know these things yourself if you actually stepped out of the room. It’s been days, it literally stinks in here.”

Yeosang held up one of his middle fingers over his shoulder. “Maybe you need to get your fucking ears checked. Like I’ve already said ten different times in the past half hour, I have papers to hand in, Wooyoung. I don’t have time to waste. And if there’s so much to complain about, I don’t know? Maybe sleep at your own place? Literally no one asked you to come over every single night.”

He could feel Wooyoung rolling his eyes at him. “If I wasn’t coming over, you would be dead, you asshole. At least be a little grateful.”

Yeosang tugged at his hair in frustration. “Can you please listen to me for once, and go to sleep? I’m already having a hard time here. I don’t need your garrulous mouth to make it harder.”

“That’s not what you were saying last night,” Wooyoung tried—and failed—to mumble under his breath.

Yeosang spun around in his chair, ready to yell, but froze when Wooyoung started laughing loudly—as if he could laugh in any other way. He visibly deflated and Wooyoung rolled his eyes one last time before walking over to him and climbing onto his lap. Yeosang stubbornly avoided his gaze and Wooyoung huffed before cupping his cheeks firmly and forcing Yeosang to meet his eyes.

“Yeo. Come to bed, baby.”

All of the tension visibly melted out of Yeosang’s body as he slumped against Wooyoung and buried his face in the other’s neck. Wooyoung held him, massaging the back of his neck and petting the hair near his nape.

“We both know you’re not going to get anything done right now. You need rest, Yeosang. You can’t keep burning yourself out like this. Come to bed.”

Yeosang stayed still for a few seconds before nodding, and Wooyoung immediately got up to pull him towards the bed. He made Yeosang drink a few sips from his glass before they both settled down beneath the sheets. Wooyoung closed his eyes, exhaustion catching up to him. He was about to drift off when-

“Are these the fucking socks you wore all day? Wooyoung, get the fuck up. That shit was in my face. Wooyoung, I swear to fucking God.”

Wooyoung just laughed and pulled Yeosang further into his chest, caging him in and effectively shutting him up.
