The Stars Above The Smoke

Summary:

Claggor, Mylo, Vi, and Powder go stargazing.

Notes:

I don’t know what it is but I love them just chilling. Maybe because the show was so full of action. I just like it when they get to rest.

Don’t reupload/repost my fics.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Vander isn’t going to like this,” Claggor said under his breath. He hauled himself from the balcony onto the roof.

“Vander isn’t going to find out,” Vi replied without looking at him. She stood with one hand on Powder’s shoulder, looking out over the city of Piltover.

“That’s what you always say,” Mylo muttered. He was already on the roof, hugging his vest around him. It was chilly outside, the last dregs of winter still clinging to the city.

Vi shot Mylo a poisonous look. Then she guided Powder to a flat section of the roof. “You’re going to love this, Pow Pow.”

Mylo and Claggor exchanged looks. Claggor shrugged. They followed Vi and Powder.

The four of them laid down in a row on the roof; Mylo, Claggor, Powder, and Vi. Above them was the endless night sky, stretched out like a quilt of deep blues and purples, dotted with glittering stars and a river of white like lace. The moon was a thumbnail crescent, slim and white and shining. In Zaun they couldn’t see the stars past the pollution and Piltover’s tall, tall buildings. It was beautiful. It made Claggor’s heart ache with longing.

Powder and Vi laid with their heads together, Powder asking about the stars and Vi whispering their names and stories.

Claggor was pretty sure she was making it up, because who would have told Vi about the stars? But he liked the stories too, listened to them intently and pictured them playing out in the sky.

Beside him, Mylo laid so that they touched. He laced his fingers through Claggor’s fingers and gazed up at the stars with an awed expression in his green eyes. Mylo looked like his heart was full of longing too.

Claggor ran his thumb over the back of Mylo’s hand.

They watched an airship fly overhead, briefly blocking their view of the night sky.

Mylo lifted his free hand, made the shape of a gun, and pretended to shoot the airship. “Bam!” he said softly. His arm trembled with cold.

“I wonder what the stars look like from up there,” Powder said wistfully. She loved airships, loved all machines, really. Out of all of them, Powder was the best with machines; building them and taking them apart with ease.

“You know, Powder, I bet one day you’ll find out,” Vi said, her tone turning emotional and warm like it always did when she spoke to Powder.

     “You think?” Powder asked.

“Definitely,” Vi promised, then told another story. She spoke until her voice went hoarse, until Powder was snoring softly. Then she looked over at Mylo and Claggor. “I’m gonna take her home. You guys coming?”

“We’ll be down soon,” Claggor replied before Mylo could answer. He squeezed Mylo’s hand.

“Yeah,” Mylo agreed, shivering. “We’ll be in by dawn.”

Vi picked up Powder and carried her away.

When they were gone, Claggor turned to Mylo. He reached for him, trying to draw Mylo closer. “You seem cold.”

Mylo snuggled into Claggor’s embrace. He gave a full body shiver, then sighed. “You’re so warm.” Mylo kissed Claggor, a sweet little kiss. His lips were cold. “This was a good idea.”

“I’m telling Vi you said that,” Claggor teased between kisses. He wrapped his arms around Mylo, held him close to try and keep him warm.

Mylo tucked his face in the crook of Claggor’s neck. His nose was cold but his breath on Claggor’s skin was warm. “Don’t you dare.”

Claggor found himself looking across the rooftop. Even Piltover’s roofs were fancy with elaborate glass and gold trim. He could still see the stars from the corner of his eye. “When we get back, I think you should come to my bed.”

Mylo tensed and then his lips curved in a smile against Claggor’s pulse. “Oh yeah?”

Claggor’s heart skipped a beat. “Yeah. I’ll keep you warm.” He rubbed his hand between Mylo’s shoulder blades, then down to the small of his back.

Mylo gave an appreciative hum. “I got lucky with you, Claggor.”

Warmth bloomed in Claggor’s chest, a strong burst of affection. He cupped Mylo’s face, lifting it so that he could play another kiss on Mylo’s lips. He kissed Mylo again and again, trying to convey that the sentiment was returned, that by the gods and goddesses Claggor loved Mylo and knew how lucky they both were.

Mylo shivered again and then laughed against Claggor’s lips. “Let’s go home.”

     “Okay.”

     “You can keep me warm.”

“Okay.” Before they left, Claggor kissed Mylo one more time. “We should come back up here. Just the two of us.”

     Mylo grinned. “We will.”
