Ayaka has a problem. She's in love. Being in love shouldn't be a problem but unfortunately Lumine is. This woman is so frustrating, cooky, beautiful and such a big flirt that Ayaka doesn't know what to do anymore.
The worst of it is that she's afraid Lumine is not sincere or worse begins to be bored of her and give her attention to other women.
Ayaka for the first time in her life wants to be selfish. She wants to win Lumine over. She wants to keep her annoying grin for herself. She wants these golden eyes to only look at her.
It's childish really, but at the moment Ayaka doesn't really care, her heart is burning with passion when she thinks about the other girl.
She wants her.
She wants her so badly, it's almost embarrassing.
Speaking of embarrassment, just this morning while waiting to get a green tea at her favourite coffee shop, she had bump directly into Lumine. Perfect to start the day, really.
She was going to apologise because she just had spilt her drink on the blonde but of course Lumine was annoying.
"No need to apologise, I understand. It was your own way to invite me to go on a date, wasn't it?"
Ayaka looked at the other girl with her face already red. "Ab- Absolutely not!"
"I prefer hot chocolate though." Said Lumine with a nonchalant tone. She was already smirking back at Ayaka who was too flustered to say anything back.
Lumine was too hot, it was unfair.
The only thing Ayaka could do was to walk away before Lumine continued to make her heart beat so fast.
The last thing she saw was Lunime waving at her while shouting at her. "See you around Aya!"
Aya… It's a nickname Lumine chose to use to speak to her. At first she was calling Ayaka by her name like every person but of course it wasn't enough. She wanted to get Ayaka's attention quicker and make her lose her composure.
It was working of course.
But Ayaka doesn't really mind it now that she thinks about it. After all, it was a breath of fresh air. Ayaka as the daughter of one of the most prestigious families in the town, she was not used to seeing people treat her the way Lumine did.
She hated to admit it but sometimes Ayaka felt lonely but Lumine even by being annoying and frustrating was always there to make her days brighter. Well not maybe brighter but… interesting…?
Lumine was certainly interesting.
The girl is the same age as Ayaka but was already training to join the Olympics. She was smart though which is unfair because she is also really beautiful… Lumine also really loves animals, especially dogs.
One time, Ayaka saw Lumine barking right back at a dog near their campus. It was the first time Ayaka saw Lumine blush because she was caught by surprise by her presence. It was adorable but then Lumine began to bark at her saying she could be her dog instead of her servant. Embarrassing.
Ayaka is in love with an idiot.
Ayaka was blinking blankly at her assignment due next week when Sara sat down in front of her.
Sara was one of her dearest friends. She was also studying politics and is quite a bit like her. Deep down the woman was just shy but with a big heart and great ambitions.
"Mora for your thoughts?" Ayaka was going to answer, but Sara raised her hand. "Let me guess." A pause and then a small smile "Lumine."
Ayaka almost groaned. "It's that obvious?"
"I spoke to Keqing and apparently you're going on a date together? Lumine has been telling everyone since this morning."
Ayaka almost choked on the air. "What!?"
"Oh sorry. It was supposed to be a secret?"
"No!" Ayaka tried to calm herself down. "We're not going out together, I just spilled my tea on her."
"Oh." Sara sighed. "Well I think you should give it a try."
"Are you crazy!?" Hissed Ayaka.
Sara raised one of her eyebrows. "Why not? Ayaka you've obviously been smitten with her for a few months and don't let me start on how Lumine has been running after you like a sick puppy." She insisted a little on the word puppy and Ayaka looked away. Telling Sara about Lumine barking at her was a mistake.
"It's not like that. She does it with a lot of girls."
"Now that's just your jealousy speaking. I admit that she sometimes seems to flirt a little with some girls but she never asks them on a date and she doesn't buy them flowers."
Ayaka buries her face in her hands thinking about the last time Lumine bought her flowers. Her brother was the one who found them in front of their home. It was complicated to make him understand that she was not in a relationship with Lumine. And even more embarrassing when he told her "Not yet." while she was dying inside.
"What if she gets tired of me?"
"I'll fucking punch her in the face." Ayaka laughs softly at her friend. "Seriously though, I really think you should give yourselves a chance."
"I think that's a good idea." Said a voice behind Ayaka. It was Thoma, her best friend. "The whole campus is already aware of your date." He was teasing her. Never trust your friends.
"In that case I need backup to reject her." Ayaka took her things and headed towards the exit. Her friends were already behind her.
"Are you serious?" Said Thoma, a bit disappointed.
"I never said I was going on a date with her. I do not like her spreading false rumours."
"Even if you actually want to go on a date with her?" Sara was teasing her.
"Even if I do, yes!" Ayaka tried to ignore her friends laughing at her saying she was ridiculous.
Maybe they're right… Love is really making her mess with her actions huh.
A few minutes later, she finally spotted Lumine eating with a few friends right outside the gymnasium. Archons help her. Lumine is so gorgeous she might not be able to look at her.
"Mission impossible." Mumbled Ayaka while looking at the blonde. She was going to turn around and go back to the library when Thoma waved at his friend Kaeya.
Before she could do anything she felt Thoma dragging her along with Sara.
"How are you doing dumb jocks?" Said Thoma.
"He's talking to you guys." Said Kaeya to his friends.
"You may not be a jock but you're obviously the stupid one." Said Amber as she was feeding Lumine. Lumine only nodded while happily munching.
Ayaka tried to look away trying to repress the jealousy growing in her.
"Amber, yesterday you said you believed that two moons existed." Said Tartaglia.
"Everything is possible!" Amber was trying to defend herself while her friends were making fun of her.
Ayaka was only looking at Lumine. The blonde seemed happy surrounded by her friends. Lumine has always been good at making friends even with Tartaglia which was really something. In a way Ayaka is bit envious of her. Making friends was always something she finds hard to do. First of all because she is shy but also because she's afraid people want to be close to the Kamisato and not her.
But Lumine has always been interested in Ayaka and only Ayaka when she was talking to her.
Maybe that was the first thing that made Ayaka fall for her.
Ayaka was lost in her thoughts when Keqing joined the group, the purple haired woman put her hand on Ayaka's shoulder slightly startling her.
"So you're finally going on a date with Lumine?" Before Ayaka could say anything Keqing shook her hand. "Thank you she finally might shut up about you now. She has been harassing us to find a way to ask you out."
Ayaka saw Lumine looking at her reaction and decided to look at the sky.
Can't she catch a break?
Sara looked curiously at Keqing and asked the stupidest question that Ayaka wanted to strangle her on the spot. "Are you the one that advised her to bark?"
The reaction was immediate, Keqing was stunned and she looked blankly at Sara probably thinking she was weird. Kaeya and Amber were laughing at Lumine while she was glaring at Tartaglia.
"You really did it? Oh my god you were really desperate." Childe couldn't stop laughing and looked at the two women.
"You're a menace to society." Hissed Lumine. "I panicked and she's really pretty you can't blame me."
"Wow, my expectations were low, but you're really something else." Whistled Keqing. "But I guess only the results matter." She turned her gaze to Ayaka. "Good luck with her."
Lunine cleared out her throat. "Yeah about that date… Can we talk?"
Ayaka agreed to it only a few seconds later, she was trying to process what was happening.
Before she could move Lumine took her hand and made her sit with her on a bench far from their loud friends.
Ayaka played her hands, not brave enough to look at the women next to her. She could feel her heart beat so fast it almost hurts.
"So..." Began Ayaka.
"Yes about the date..." Ayaka briefly saw the conflicted look of Lumine. "I don't want you to feel like you have to go with me or anything." Oh. That was not something Ayaka expected. "I'm not the one who spread the rumour that we were going on a date together, it was Amber. She misunderstood everything I told her about this morning." Everything made sense but Ayaka could only stay silent.
What now?
"However…" Lumine looked softly at Ayaka with hesitation. "My offer is still up if you're interested."
Her golden eyes were so beautiful Ayaka felt like they could melt her heart. Ayaka is in love with her. She couldn't speak or move but found the courage to hold back Lumine when she tried to leave the bench.
"I…" Damn it Kamisato speak up "I think I might want to give us a chance if you're willing to."
At that moment Ayaka was brave enough to look at Lumine's face, and It was one of her best decisions.
At first surprise came across her face but then it was pure joy and relief. Her smile was unlike anything Ayaka saw before it was like winning the most prestigious trophy in existence.
Ayaka couldn't help but smile too.
"Are you free tonight? Can I have your phone number? Do you want me to come pick you up at your house? Do you-"
Ayaka lifted her hand to put it softly on Lumine's mouth.
"Yes I'm free tonight, and I can come on my own and finally you gave me your phone number two weeks after we met don't worry I'll text you."
Ayaka knew she made a mistake when Lumine looked at her with a smug smile. "So you kept my phone number?"
Ayaka looked away, her face already red. "It would be rude of me to throw it away don't you think?"
Lumine beamed "You're so adorable Aya, you finally really do love me."
Ayaka decided to leave before Lumine made her lose her mind. "I have classes I'll talk to you later."
"See you tonight Aya!" Lumine winked at her and Ayaka waved awkwardly back at her.
She could hear Lumine run towards her friends screaming at them that she got a date.
She was so annoying… Ayaka shook her head and smiled.
Ayaka is glad she was able to be selfish for once and get what she wanted.
She really does really love Lumine after all.
