He easily sleeps the moment he lay down in bed, but he couldn’t get any sleep the night before. The day he’s been waiting for has finally come.
“Temari, one time I asked if you could stay for another minute, maybe have some tea and dango before you go back to Suna and we were able to see the sunrise together.
The next time you came, I asked if you'd like to have some dinner before going home and you said 'sure' giving me additional hours of your time.
Then you came again and days after ready to leave, yet I asked -again- if you could stay for another day because Ino and Choji wanted to have lunch with you, but they only knew you'd be joining on the same day.
In the Konoha gates I said, 'maybe you'd like to stay for another week' and you laugh, that laugh I always love and said, 'I need to go home.'
I keep longing for you, I want to ask for another day with you. Every time I have to accompany you to the gates, I want to stop you from leaving, I want to be selfish and have you here, yet I know this isn't your home.
But starting today, I don't have to wait for your next visit. I thank God every day for letting me meet you, for letting me fall in love with you and for giving me you.
Thank you for coming into my life, for giving me purpose in life, for being with me. Thank you for choosing me. I love you, always and let me love you every day, for the rest of our lives.”
She isn’t good with words, but this time, the words leave flawlessly from her mouth, coming out from its hiding all along.
“Shikamaru, crybaby. I still remember how we met. I am a princess, but our story is not something from a fairytale book. Everyone here knows how we started.
I was walking on a broken road, my family was broken, even I was broken, yet you welcome me in your life. The road I traveled changed. You became an ally, a friend then a lover.
Walking away from you was always a struggle, I have responsibilities to Suna and you with Konoha, but every time I come back, you always welcome me with open arms.
When you propose to me, I didn't hesitate to say yes because I know I belong with you. You are my person.
