Work Text:
The distant rumble of a loud extinguish echoed down the street where a large group of people was sitting down to eat. They were in the outside portion of a nearby mall, it was a cool evening perfect for a very late family reunion.
“Excuse me, waiter.”
“What seems to be the problem, Miss?” asked a tired-looking waiter.
“I’m so sorry to bother you but there are too many chairs at this table. Is this area for someone else?” whispered your sister.
There were 14 people already here waiting on two more but there were 22 chairs in total. The group took up most of the outside patio. Your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and father were already sitting down, all of them trying to one-up the other with their ridiculous stories.
“You all have the 6:30 reservation, correct?”
Your stressed-out sister replied, “Yes we do but we’re just waiting for two more people. We don’t need this many chairs.”
“I’ll talk to my manager” the waiter started walking towards the door, “Another waiter will be out shortly to take your order.”
Your sister grumbled as she grabbed her phone, trying once again to reach you so this night wasn’t as unbearable. You didn’t answer. She groaned, slowly turning her attention to the ramblings of her family. They seemed to have calmed down and started talking about your unpunctuality.
“I mean isn’t the host supposed to be here before others arrive?”
“She seemed very excited about this dinner and she’s not even here… Maybe she and that new girlfriend of hers got into a fight?” your aunt said in mock concern.
Everybody ignored her, used to her bullshit. “She’ll be here, it hasn't even been 10 minutes yet. Cut the young lady some slack, will you?” argued your grandfather.
“Grandpa shush, go back, auntie, what was that about a girlfriend?” said your sister. “She told me she was introducing her boyfriend.”
“Ehhh, boyfriend? I heard about a girlfriend as well,” said you're already drunk uncle. The table just erupted again with different arguments and bets. Your cousins laughing, uncles red-faced, swaying in their chairs, the only one who was quiet, seemingly happy to be there, was your father. He had a large knowing smirk on his face, a smirk slowly growing to a mad grin as the volume of the table rose and the rumble of engines grew increasingly closer.
Waiters didn’t even wanna go out to the patio, the yelling and laughing just increased. The argument about your partner was long forgotten. At one point two of your uncles were on the ground having fallen from their chairs. As your uncles slowly got up, no one was willing to help them cause I mean who would want to, they probably would be on the ground at least 5 more times tonight, a loud stereo was heard, getting some attention from the group.
From around the corner blasting music, came a huge red truck. It was lifted to the point where one would ask ‘just why?’, with all its windows rolled down it was swerving all across the road. The family’s over-dramatic storytelling was paused as they stared, most of them, car fanatics and wondering why that monstrosity even existed. The giant truck sped past them at an alarming speed, even with the booming stereo crazy laughter was heard making the scene just a tad more ‘wtf..?’
The truck had passed the uncles and your father just stared at each other shocked by the events that just took place, the others in the group just continued their conversations. The brothers (the uncles) broke out into crazed laughter while trying to mimic the bad driving they just witnessed. But if we’re being honest the uncles’ driving is just as bad, probably worse but we won’t tell them that.
Some more time passed, the stories getting more and more bizarre, right at the climax of your cousin’s story, which everyone was getting tired of, the patio door was kicked open. Out walked a tall blonde man with red eyes and a slouched posture that made him look like an angsty middle schooler. His dress shoes stomped the ground as he walked over to an open seat. His orange and blue striped suit jacket was thrown over his shoulder while he fidgeted with suspenders that were attached to his orange and blue striped pants. The outfit was a bit outlandish but he surprisingly pulled it off. He sat down next to your father nodding in greeting, probably trying to be respectful but kinda already failing, (it’s that thought that counts) “Can we help you, young man?” asked your grandfather. While the rest of your family seemed stunned.
The blondie raised one eyebrow in surprise and said, “No-” “Babe, why couldn’t you have waited for us?” You walked out the door, frowning at Bakugou.
“I didn’t wanna wait anymore for your slow asses. We’re late as hell, dumbass.” you opened your mouth to respond but loud laughter and rushed footsteps made you quickly jump out of the way as a red blur passed you. Well, you tried to get out of the way, the red blur just scooped you up while saying, “Katsuki relax man. We’re here and it doesn’t even look like they have gotten food yet. We’re good. Stop worrying.” Bakugou turned red while saying, “AHH?! I’m not worried, asshole.”
You cleared your throat getting their attention, still in the redhead’s arms. Just a little bit irritated, you said, “Eji, baby, put me down.” Kirishima smiled widely gently putting you down. “Thank you” you turned to your shocked family “I am so sorry we’re late. We had some traffic and some clothing emergencies before we could get here.”
Your father got up wrapping you in a big hug, “Glad you could finally join us.” he teased, “looks like you couldn’t solve all your clothing emergency problems.”
“What?” You wiggled out of his grip turning to see what your dad was looking at. Kirishima was quickly moving from person to person at the table greeting them, making them laugh. The sight made you smile, he was such an amazing person-wait… oh come on. As much as you loved him you had to admit he was a total himbo, so very pretty but kinda dumb. He was wearing red crocs (which was normal, he never left the house without those), orange shorts (which were neon orange that made you want to rip your eyes out), and a Hawaiian shirt that was unbuttoned with nothing underneath. HOT. but not good for the occasion.
“Kirishima.” His eyes snapped up to you, the nice conversation getting cut off, the use of his last name panicking him a bit.
He scrambled over to you, “yea?” he was biting his lip, eyes big and vulnerable… nevermind, you couldn’t be mad at him.
“Try to get Katsuki involved. The big baby seems a little scared.”
“I’m not scared!” yelled Bakugou. You both ignored him, Kirishima nodded and kissed your cheek. He grabbed Bakugou, laughing as he tried to shove him off.
“So, two boyfriends?”
You looked at your aunt, smiling and you said, “Something like that. But it’s not really your business.” she was annoying, and the quicker you shut her up the nicer the evening would be.
She just scoffed and focused on Kirishima who was introducing Bakugou. You turned to your dad, “You sure this is a good idea. I mean they’re open-minded but this might be a little too much.”
“You happy?”
“What?”
“Are you happy with them? When you first started dating them, all of them, I haven’t seen you smile bigger.”
You laughed, “Yeah they make me pretty damn happy.”
“Good. Then don’t worry about what they think, ok?”
You nodded, your dad sat back down laughing as Kirishima joked about something. You hugged your sister, she looked so betrayed you almost laughed. You didn’t sit, just leaned on a chair listening to the laughter and the joy of the moment. It was going to get a lot crazier in a couple of minutes so you took some deep breaths. A warm hand on your shoulder made you jump, Bakugou huffed a laugh.
He said quietly, “They’ll be here, don’t worry. If things become too much just tell me and we’ll go.”
“Awww, Mr. Boom Boom man has a soul, who would have thought.”
Bakugou sneered, grabbing you, putting you in a headlock roughing up your hair. The two of you grabbed the attention of the group, the uncles yelled out bets, the cousins took pictures, and your sister looked like she wanted to die. Kirishima laughed loudly while also trying to separate both of you.
“HI BABES!”
The greeting immediately broke you and Bakugou up. The van was a spiral of color, it was bright and friendly, two people leaned out the window.
“Mina! Denki” Kirishima yelled in greeting.
“Oh, there’s more.” said your grandmother, facing you she smiled, “You are so blessed.” you smiled, on the verge of tears.
Dear Lord, you loved her. She was the best grandma anyone could have. She was like your second mom. A better mom than your first, she always supported you and helped you. You could always depend on her.
Mina parked her van, her and Denki jumped the small fence surrounding the patio rushing to hug the three of you. Mina kissed your cheek, you leaned into her touch, she was 100% the best cuddler of the group. Also one of the more creative of the group, so you were a little worried about her clothing choices for the evening but she got it spot on. She was wearing a small denim jacket that had no sleeves, a black crop top that hugged her breasts, and the denim bell-bottom jeans were just ughhhhh smexy. Her pink hair bounced as she weaved around the table with Kirishima locked in hand introducing herself.
Denki was whisper yelling with Bakugou about something. Denki looked amazing as usual, his blue dress shirt fitting his slim body perfectly, he had your favorite pink pants on. Denki wrapped his arms around Bakugou's neck, their quiet argument coming to an end. Bakugou pulled Denki closer to him by his hips, speaking in hushed voices Denki turned towards you smiling.
“Everything going ok?” He reached toward you, you grabbed him, letting him tug you forward.
“Yeah, how is everyone else?” Denki and Bakugou led you over to where Mina and Kirishima were reenacting something involving flailing limbs, hmmm maybe Kirishima’s dance moves.
“They’ll be here soon, don’t worry.” He gave you a light kiss on your forehead, he sat down next to your sister probably to flirt with her or something. Bakugou wandered over to sit next to your dad, your family laughing loudly with the new additions. The stupid stories started up again, embarrassing stories about your past relationships mixed into the fold. They made you blush and groan hoping that this dinner would end soon. Or better yet the rest of the damn group would show up faster.
Kirishima sat down next to Bakugou, Bakugou already looked absolutely done with the whole situation. He leaned onto Kirishima’s shoulder talking quietly with your dad. He was making motions towards his clothing so probably talking about his fashion company. You were with Mina talking about her van and all the work she had put into it.
Your drunk-ass uncle cried, “Where do you get all this free time? Do you have a job?”
Mina laughed, “No, I don’t have a job. I’m lucky enough to be supported by a wonderful man.”
“So you’re a golddigger.”
Bakugou and Denki burst out laughing hysterically.
“What?” your uncle asked.
“No, Mina is not a golddigger.” you laughed.
“Oh.”
And that was the end of the gold digger conversation, your family were idiots but they knew when to shut up and keep their thoughts to themselves, well except your aunt but she was shut down quick. If you were going by the “golddigger” title you were a gold digger, so were Kirishima and Denki, the dynamic wasn’t an unhealthy one or you taking advantage of another. A rumble of a well-tuned engine blasted down the street you knew exactly who it was. You were very surprised and Oh, fuck you were excited. You hadn’t seen him for 4 months, Shōta Aizawa. His familiar Lamborghini was black chrome its windows tinted. The car rolled smoothly down the street, Kirishima and Denki whistled and waved, Bakugou smirked.
Mina smiled widely at you, “Surprise! We all know how important this was to you, he wasn’t going to miss it.”
You hugged her tightly, in the months he had been gone you had had your other partners but even with one of them missing it hadn’t felt right. He had told you getting there in time would be close to impossible, you had understood but it still sucked.
“How? He had work, stuff to finish.”
“Clearly you’ve never heard of a surprise and planning before. Just enjoy it, honey” Mina squeezed you, then let you wander towards to door so you could jump Shōta when he walked through.
The whole table watched in amusement as you passed near the door, the door swung open to reveal a VERY handsome Shōta. Not that he wasn’t good-looking on a regular day but he just was extra good-looking today. His hair was pulled back into a bun, he had a fully black colored suit on that fit perfectly to his body, and he was holding a small gift bag in his hands.
You were on him as soon as you registered it was actually Shōta, you clutched his jacket cause fuck you some wrinkles never killed anyone. You heard his deep laughter rumbling in his chest as his arms slid around you pulling you even closer. You may have cried a little bit ok scratch that you cried big fat tears as you felt Mina, Kirishima, and Denki wrap around the two of you. You saw Bakugou smirking at all of you sneakily taking some pictures.
Shōta whispered to you, “I’m home, princess. I got you something I think you’ll love.” The others gave you two-room to watch with Bakugou.
Shōta handed you the gift bag smiling sweetly at you, “Shōta, you know I don’t need anything. You have already given me everything.”
“Take it. I was gone for four months. We'll just see this as an apology gift.” You sighed, grabbing the gift with a small smile on your face.
“I’ll open this when we get home, that's ok?” Shōta nodded. You turned to see your whole watching, your face turning a bright red.
“That's a good impression of a tomato you're making.” Teased your sister. You flipped her off, your family laughed.
“You all suck,” you said, pouting. Their hooting and hollering increased, you plopped yourself down into a chair, still pouting. It was Shōta’s turn to do the rounds, he quietly introduced himself, shook your dad’s hand, and sat in Bakugo’s old seat.
The table’s atmosphere finally calmed down to a gentle roar, your partners all fit in, Denki was going on and on about his hair dyeing expertise, Kirishima was laughing his ass off over something your now very drunk grandpa was saying (how they kept getting alcohol you had no idea), Bakugou was arguing with Shōta over getting his seat back, and Mina was having what looked to be a very nice conversation with your sister. You just watched, looking on as your family talked and shared stories with the people you loved.
“A Lambo now this?!” You heard your cousin cry. You looked over and there was your Rolls Royce (a gift from Shōta).
“Oh hell yeah! Momo! Kyouka!” You yelled.
“This is ridiculous. How many people are you with?” Laughed your sister. You grinned at her.
“Don’t worry this is the last group. You jealous or something?”
“Jealous?! Yeah right, I wouldn’t be able to handle all of them. I can barely handle my boyfriend.”
You laughed with your sister as the two new addition walked through the door. Momo looked great in her light pink summer dress, she had some light make-up on that made her glow. Her curves were perfectly accented by her dress and her long legs were perfect for the short dress. Kyouka looked adorable with her gray crop top and pink striped pants. Her white purse hung loosely around her body. You rushed to them to beat the others so you could hug them first.
You hugged them tightly (winning your unannounced race), “You both look great, absolutely stunning.”
“Sorry, we’re late. Have you guys ordered yet?” asked Momo.
“No, the waiters are scared of us or something.”
you were then crushed (lovingly) by a very hyperactive Kirishima and Denki. Mina gushed over their clothes and how cute they looked. You gave them both kisses telling them how perfect they looked then led them over to your family where they were welcomed. Bakugou kissed Momo’s cheek, Denki almost tackled Kyouka to the ground. Shōta smiled watching the two girls get loved on, they had been the ones to do most of the planning for Shōta’s arrival.
Your sister hit it off with Kyouka, talking to her about the new album she was releasing. Kyouka was a faceless music artist. Momo was an inventor who made everything, made improvements to old things. Momo was talking with your grandma with Kirishima. Bakugou was talking to your cousins aggressively about plaid or something. Denki was now drunk with your uncles, that was going to be a pain in your ass later. Shōta was knocked out, that was definitely a new record. Mina was beside you holding your hand, your head on her shoulder. The table’s volume had decreased to an acceptable level, your family probably trying to be respectful to the fully passed out Shōta. You hadn’t fully registered everything that had happened or how amazing the evening was going. The worry and stress lifted off your shoulders. This was perfect nothing couldn’t be any better.
There was just one thing that wasn’t working… where were the waiters?
