Hope County is the perfect place for something like Rook.

Chapter Text

Hope County is the perfect place for something like Rook.
He's people had a habit of being able to detect great violence, the scent of blood drawing them to the most desperate of places.
He had already been scouting out for a new place to start, the people around him had started to get suspicious of his nature, things only getting worse when a kid caught him feeding off a deer
it wouldn't be long until they forced him out or tried to kill him
it wasn't that hard of choice for him to leave his old home and pick a new name to head off to Montana to start his new life.
He had no one tying him down after all, its too risky for a vampire to get attached.
It was easy enough for him to slip into slip in, the police department where desperate, no batting an eye when he signed up to be a junior deputy everybody around him being too focused on the cult tormenting and causing chaos for the whole county to think twice when he showed up.
it was even easier for him to find a place on the team for the arrest of the Leader of the Project at Eden's Gate, Sheriff Whitehorse was desperate for anyone stupid enough to sign up and Rook had proved himself perfectly capable over the past weeks.
It wasn't his first time seeing a cult either.
during the over 70 years since his turning Rook's seen alot of fucked up shit, compared to what he's seen before this cult situation looks like a walk in the park.
He's dealt with pirates, drug lords and multiple dictatorships surely a paranoid group of hippes won't be so hard to deal with.
At the time going to the arrest seemed like a no brainer, it would establish him as someone the general public of Hope County could rely on and trust, hopefully preventing them from getting to suspicious about his nature too quickly.
Even when the move is easy Rook still hates having to restart, hates the change.
so despite the marshal's disapproval along with his countless protests about sending a newbie Rook still gets on that damn helicopter.
The flight is quite enough that Rook brings out his phone, pulls up the video evidence he didn't have time to watch earlier

As Rook watches the video of Joseph seed all he can think of is how beautiful he is despite the fact that Rook just watched him dig out a man's eyes with his bare hands.
not like Rook can judge on that front.
hes killed people in a countless amount of more brutal ways.
maybe its the fact that he hasn't fed in a while, maybe its the fact that he's lonely, hasn't been willing to put in the risk to find a human to feed of at least more than once, hasn't tasted human blood in over a year.
But not matter the reason R9ok is undeniablely attracted to Joseph Seed.
Those bright blue eyes hidden behind yellow lenses makes Rook's heart flutter in a way he hasn't felt in a long time, he has unreasonable
to the man's hair out of its messy bun, run his hands through it as he licks a line down his long throat, wrapping his hands over the cult leader's shoulders to keep him in place before-
"we're here"
Rook is forcibly snapped out of his thoughts by the Sheriff's words.
it's time for Rook to make a good impression.

As they walk towards the church Rook finds himself grateful that this is the first time in a while that everybody is staring at him not because of him being a vampire.
Joseph is even more glorious in person, completely in his element as he preaches from the front of the church.
The light from the window behind him illuminates him perfectly, giving off a heavenly glow.
his face holds a calm expression, he doesn't falter at the attention as he begins preaching.
the words that come out of his mouth are soft, but filled with conviction as they ring through the church.
Rook is mesmerized at the sight of it.
He follows behind the sheriff and marshal keeping his eyes on Joseph as they get closer to the altar.
Joseph's followers rise to protect their leader qs the marshal yells something about the stupid warrant, Rook catches sight of the three other seeds move closer too, moving to stand behind Joseph.
Turns out that his siblings are just as equally attractive.
They look much better in person than they did in the blurry photos Rook saw as he skimmed through their files.
Jacob with his broad shoulders, the scars covering his face and arm only make him look even more attractive Rook can tell just by appearance that Jacob is strong and Rook can already tell he would make the perfect donor.
John is small, even more so compared to Rook's large form due to his vampirism.
Rook wants to grab the youngest seed by the waist holding him close as he feeds, he probably tastes as expensive as his fashion sense is.
Joseph sends his followers off, one of them harshly brushing against Rook but he can't find it in himself to care to enamoured by the raw power Joseph exudes.
Rook is bearly able to keep himself together once he comes face to face with joseph, even though the man is standing on a step his head still only goes to Rook's chin, eyeing the fresh bleeding wound on Joseph's forearm making Rook lick his lips.

He's just mildly displeased when Joseph calls him hell, though thinking about it he's been called much worse and scent of blood spreading through out the church, seeming to pratically drip off of the three seeds, makes being called hell worth it. taking a deep breath Rook lets the scent of Joseph's almost sickly sweet blood make him dizzy with hunger, his tongue runs over his fangs, he'll need to snag a deer as soon as the arrest is over.
He doesn't fail to catch the slight curiosity then the sudden realisation in Joseph's eyes as he makes eye contact with Rook.
Rook eyes must be bloodshot, the black eating up his usually blue iris, normally he's able to control how he reacts to the scent of blood but he's so god damn hungry that he can feel himself slipping.
Joseph seed knows what Rook is.
The thought should scare him, make Rook run far away as possible but Joseph doesn't seem scared not with the pleased smile on his face going as far as to tip his head to the side displaying his throat when he lifts his hands for Rook to put into cuffs.
"God will not let you take me"
but how could rook refuse such a lovely offer.
Once Joseph is in cuffs they head out walking towards the door, while Rook can't take his eyes of the curve where Joseph's shoulder meets his neck.
Once they get into the helicopter, sitting joseph across from Hudson as Rook helps the marshal stop the peggies from getting inside or on the chopper, rook is easily distracted by Joseph's singing, calm despite the chaos around him.
He's so distracted he doesn't the woman climbing the helicopter until its too late and she's already thrown her body into the blades sending them crashing down.
Well there goes Rook's good first impression
Fuck.
