--------

Izuku grabbed his bat and ran to stand with his team.

This was it.

The championships.

---

Shouta looked across the field, staring at his team. “Are you all ready?” He called, gaining everyone’s attention. “Hai!” They all called at once.

“Then get your bats and swing!”

-----

Midoriya wiped the sweat from his forehead, he couldn’t stop now. He heard the wind shift as a baseball flew through the air, planting his feet into the dirt. As soon as he felt the wind in front of him, he swung.

The clank of a baseball hitting wood sounded out through the stadium, and he dropped his bat, taking off to the first base. His foot hit the white platform, so he bolted to the next. And the next. Then the next. Midoriya opened his eyes, not remembering when he closed them. He took the risk, diving for home base. His chest hit the ground, white shirt sliding through the dirt. Midoriya stretched his hand barely an inch, touching the platform. “Home Run!” The machine called.

UA, the name of his team, got 4 more points, taking the lead. He heard a member from the other team, Shiketsu, huff under their breath. Midoriya understood the frustration, but he’d have to beat them.

--------

The game continued for another 3 hours, and they were on the final 2 minutes. Midoriya inhaled deeply, preparing for the final hit. The sound of a ball soaring through the air hit his ears like thunder, making him listen intently.

They were tied, 26-26.

Whoever won would be dubbed the best.

Midoriya almost missed the ball, swinging when it got close. He felt the ball vibrate against his bat, quickly dropping it and running.

First base.

Second.

Third.

He tripped.

Midoriya fell, twisting his ankle at an odd angle. Hissing quietly in pain, he forced himself up. They were so close.

Using his hands to brace himself, he took off.

He hit the home base with a thud, and the crowd went wild.

Midoriya felt himself being pulled up, and he screamed.

His whole team lifted him into the air, cheering wildly for him.

“You did it, man!”

“Yeah!”

Aizawa stood silently off to the side. He took his phone out of his pocket, raising it to face his team. He took a picture of them all hugging and screaming with each other.

That was his team.

And he’d never forget it.
