Action duels.
Shoma wants to try them. Sure, the action cards are an addition he is not sure how to feel about, but it is a new layer of strategy so he has to try it.
Which is why he is now in Yusho duel school trying a practice duel with Yuya on an action field.
That guy had met Sakaki Yuya last year during the tournament, so when Shoma expressed interest in action duels he had recommended this school.
It also helps that it is way cheaper than the more recommended Leo Duel School.
But there are not many staff members and the principal is busy with something else, so Yuya has to teach him.
"So there are some basic rules for an action duel. Do you remember them?" The slightly older boy asks.
"At the beginning of the duel an action field is activated. You can use action cards, but can only have one in your hand at the time. In order to not waste too much time there is a maximum time limit between plays."
"Good, we'll start with the types of action fields they use for beginners and work up from there."
The matter is slightly bouncier at the start, but Shoma fairly quickly works himself up to the junior-youth level.
Though he cannot beat Yuya when it comes to grabbing action cards.
Yuya is a bit envious that he grasps it so quickly, but he doesn't mind that much.
After all they are both smiling.
Maybe Shoma will join the duel school. It's fun.
