“Just a little more and...there! Perfect!”
You smile as you wipe the last of your wife’s makeup off of her face. You had been sitting on her lap as you were helping her get ready for bed. She has her head leaned back in the chair, eyes closed, a smile of contentment on her face.
Her tawny eyes open slowly, leisurely, and you can’t suppress the soft gasp that escapes your lips. If possible, Alcina Dimitrescu looked even more enchanting without her makeup. Her wrinkles stood out more prominently without any foundation to cover them. Her lips clear of their usual crimson pigment were slightly chapped. You could see every pore, every freckle, every “imperfection” on her bare face.
She was nothing short of breathtaking.
Alcina smirks at your gasp. “What is it, iubi?” she asks, playfully chucking your chin with her large thumb.
“You’re just so beautiful,” you breathe, pressing your lips to her plush grey ones. She buries her hands in your hair as she returns your kiss eagerly.
She suddenly breaks from the kiss and presses her hand over her mouth to suppress a yawn. She catches your disappointed expression and chuckles. “It’s not you, darling,” she explains quickly. “I’d love to do more, believe me, but I’m afraid I’ve had such a busy week the exhaustion just caught up with me.”
You smile back in understanding. “All right,” you say, taking her hand and kissing the back of it. “We’ll just go to bed then, my love.”
With that, she swings you up in her arms and carries you bridal-style to the bed. You lean into the curve of her shoulder, enjoying the weightless feeling associated with the way Alcina always carried you.
She settles you on the bed, before cocooning herself around you, wrapping her arms around your middle, the way she always did when the two of you settled for the night.
However, you have an idea.
You gently extract yourself from Alcina’s embrace and smile slightly as you hear her let out in an involuntary whine at the loss of contact. Your wife was so touch-starved sometimes, it seemed nothing could satiate her. It was adorable.
You move around the side of the bed until you come up behind her. As best you can, you wrap your small body around Alcina’s in an imitation of the way she usually holds you at night. Your hands reach out and can barely wrap themselves around the curve of her waist.
You feel a chuckle ripple through Alcina as she moves her hands to cover your own. “Is this what you had been planning?” she asks, and you can hear the grin in her voice.
You kiss her bare shoulder, exposed through her nightgown. “I was just wondering,” you ask, stroking the inside of her wrist with your thumb. “If anyone had ever held you before like this?”
“Actually no,” she says, sounding surprised herself. She turns her head to look at you and you’ve never seen her grin so wide. “But I like it.”
“I’m ashamed I hadn’t thought of it before,” you say, caressing her cheek. “But I think we should do this more often. Here, scoot down a little bit. Lay your head on my chest.”
Alcina obeys, inching down a little bit before resting her dark head on your chest. You reach your hand down and begin to stroke her raven curls and you can hear her almost purr in contentment.
“I’ve always felt so safe in your arms, Alcina,” you say as you continue to stroke Alcina’s hair. “I just wanted you to feel the same way I do with you every night. You deserve to be held every so often, don’t you think?”
You don’t hear an answer, so you look down and find that Alcina is already fast asleep, snoring softly, her lips parted.
You smile and reach past her to turn out the light. Before you go to sleep yourself, you kiss her forehead saying, “Good night, my dearest darling. I love you.”
