Letters to My Future Friends

Summary:

It's not uncommon for people to create time capsules. Messages to the future, each with a story to tell. But rarely does the creator know exactly who's going to be receiving it.

Alone in a new country, trying to start a new life, Caleb documents his adventures in the hopes that his friends will one day find them. After all, they're only a thousand years away.

Notes:

To my wonderful DM,

See, I told you I'd write it. I don't know how long it'll take me to finish, but I have ideas. It's up to you if we actually find this in game, but I'm not fully ready to let my high elf go yet.

Chapter 1: February 400CC

Chapter Text

February 400CC

Dear Zora and Andrin,

Greetings from…wherever it is I am. It’s becoming increasing clear to me that even though I’m from this time, I don’t actually know a whole lot about it. I don’t think this place even has a name yet. It certainly doesn’t have a government. It’s just a whole load of wanderers trying to settle. I’ve considered settling with them, it would probably be best for me in the long run, but there’s still too much that I need to learn. I need to go back across the continents to do that. Just a few weeks here, just to help out, and then I’m restarting my journey across the ocean.

It’s hard to know what to put here. As much as the Temple of Corellon is interested (or I guess, was interested) in preserving our culture’s history, they never taught us how to record our own. So, I guess this a mix between a diary and a series of letters. I have no idea if you’ll ever find this, but I like to think it will make its way to you somehow. If you’re not Zora or Andrin, I’m not sure way you’re reading a stranger’s diary, but I hope I can live through an interesting story for you.

Yours Sincerely,

Caleb
