Chapter Text
Claude loved to watch the stars at night especially when there was a nice breeze. He didn’t get cooler nights like this in Almyra. Back in Almyra it always felt like how summer felt in Fòdlen. He loved the warm weather and how he could always smell the nice calm sea breeze from where he lived. Claude wasn’t a huge fan of the freezing cold or anything like that but a gentle breeze like this and a dip into the seventies was nice. Claude wished he had a contraption to see the stars better but he hadn’t brought his telescope to Garreg mach and he wasn’t even sure if he would have been allowed to. Perhaps another time. As Claude was about to leave, he heard someone coming up the steps to the area where he was looking at the stars from. Shit! If a teacher caught him then he would be in huge trouble for being out of his room past ten and he didn’t want another detention. Claude hid behind a bush and saw the person coming up was Dimitri.
What is Dimitri doing up here? Claude thought. Claude then realized he left his cape on the ground. Unfortunately, Dimitri also realized and picked it up. “This belongs to Claude. I should get it back to him tomorrow.” Dimitri said out loud and then, Claude accidentally stick his head out from the bush and Dimitri chuckled a little bit. “Claude, you know I can see you now right?” Claude steps out and laughs nervously.
“Heyyyy little prince.”
“Claude, why were you hiding behind a bush?” Claude sighs and walks over to Dimitri.
“Well if you had been a teacher then I would be in big trouble for being out past curfew. You do know that you get in trouble for being out past curfew right?” Claude asked because he never knew Dimitri would be the type to break a rule.
“I know, I know. It’s just, I often find it difficult to sleep. My nightmares have been more frequent lately and I have no idea what to do about it but do something that gets my mind off of them.” Claude sighs and nods sympathetically.
“I understand, I have nightmares too your princeliness.” Dimitri looked at Claude surprised.
“I never knew you had them as well Claude,” Dimitri said and sat on the grass before Claude followed and did the same thing.
“Well, I never knew you would break a rule so I guess we are both a surprise huh?” Claude laughs softly which Dimitri blush. He never knew that Claude had such a beautiful laugh. Hearing Claude laugh up close was an experience that he never wanted to forget. Claude himself was beautiful in Dimitri’s eyes. Claude had beautiful emerald eyes that looked at everything with curiosity and determination, he had tanned skin that looked like it had been kissed by the sun itself, he also loved Claude’s brown hair that reminded him of a beautiful tree bark on a cold Faerghus evening. Claude had a great smile, he always looked especially happy when he smiled, his emotions were usually pretty hard to read for Dimitri but not when he smiled. When he smiled he looked like a ray of sunshine that was too bright for someone like Dimitri to be near. Dimitri loved everything about Claude. “Hey, Dimitri? Dimitri!”
“Huh? What? What’s wrong Claude?” Claude laughed happily.
“Nothing is. You just kinda spaced out for a bit there and you were definitely staring.” Claude blushes. Dimitri blushes red as well.
“I wasn’t staring!” Dimitri said embarrassed.
“Mhm sure, you weren’t.” Claude laughed and sat even closer to Dimitri and yawned. Dimitri frowned.
“Claude are you tired? Do you need me to help you back to your room?” Claude shakes his head before looking at Dimitri.
“No no, I’m fine Dimitri. I would like to stay out a bit longer.” Claude said with a smile. “So Dimitri, what is it like in Faerghus? Is it really as cold as everyone says?” Dimitri thinks for a second.
“That depends on how cold people are saying it is,” Dimitri said with a chuckle.
“I mean, is there really snow everywhere?”
“Oh yes, it snows quite often in Faerghus. Sometimes it even snows in the summer in some parts of the country. “ Dimitri said with a smile. Claude on the other hand, shivers just thinking about it.
“That’s way too cold! How do you not freeze up there?!”
“We are just accustomed to it in Faerghus I suppose.” Dimitri laughs a little. Claude and Dimitri talk for a while until they hear someone coming and Claude yanks Dimitri behind a bush. It was a guard who was doing their nightly checks around the area and this guard would definitely recognize Claude and Dimitri and report them to seteth. “Claude…” Dimitri whispers. Claude wants Dimitri to be quiet so he does something crazy, he kisses Dimitri. Dimitri’s eyes widened but he didn’t pull away from Claude. Instead, he kissed Claude back happily. He loved Claude. “Claude…”
“You taste sweet when you are being a troublemaker.” Claude winks and Dimitri turns red.
“I love you, Claude,” Dimitri confessed. Claude smiles and runs a hand through his hair.
“I love you too princely. We should go to our dorms now.”
“Wait, Claude.”
“Yes?”
“Wannabe schemers tomorrow night too?” Dimitri smiles.
“I would love nothing more.”
