The Era 2 Ball

Summary:

Yellow Steven AU

With Yellow Diamond shattered, Homeworld and the Diamond Authority practically in the hands of Pink, the youngest diamond decides that, with or without her family, she will still keep tradition going, or, at least part of it.

Chapter Text

"Is the camera ready Pearl?"

Pink Diamond asked, her voice monotone. Her face dead and expressionless.
Eyes having bags from stress, crying, and exhaustion.

"Just got done My Diamond."

Pink would've flinched at that name a while ago, but that's not her anymore. She needed to be a diamond and she knew it.

"Good, let's send this to everywhere that can receive it."

"Including the other two?"

Pink was silent for a moment.

"I'll make sure it does-"

"Make sure it does."

Pink commanded, interrupting her.

"Yes, My Diamond."

After a few moments, Pink's pearl gave her the all clear sign and counted down on her fingers.

Pink braced herself, knowing she can't mess up this announcement.

She stared at her pearl's fingers as she counted down.

She started to have doubts about this.

What if Blue and White disagree with it?

1

No turning back now.

It's show time.

"Hello every gem. This is Pink Diamond here to make an announcement."

She already felt as if she made a mistake.

"As you all may know, we haven't thrown a ball since the start of Era 2."

Why was she doing this again? She had colonies to work on.

"But, I've decided to change that. Today, all day, my court and Yellow Diamond's court will be invited to a ball. Said ball will be hosted by me."

-Why am I doing this?-
Pink thought internally, masking it by her deadpan expression.

"Only mine and Yellow Diamond's courts may attend the ball. As those are the two I have control over."

Pink stated, feeling she needed to.

'As for Blue Diamond's and White Diamond's courts, you will have to continue your time as normal. You are not permitted to come to the ball."

"As you may know. Blue Diamond and White Diamond have not made an attempt to leave their space."

Pink would've started to tear up if she had any left.

"But, they do not wish to be in my presence. Ever again."

"And I have no room to say if they should. I myself wouldn't want to either."

She mentally kicked herself, knowing she should not have said that.

She also realized her voice was getting choppy and shook her head, clearing both her mind and throat.

"So, I am dreadfully sorry that Blue Diamond's and White Diamond's courts will not be able to attend Era 2's first ever ball."

"Though, for the ones allowed to attend, there are rules."

She needed to elaborate more and she knew it.

"To enter the ball, you must follow these rules:

One: Your superior must attend you or give you permission to attend.
Any gem that permits their pearl or guards to attend without you must alert me before hand.

Two: If you are from another court other than mine or Yellow Diamond's will be sent back or detained.

Three: Upon arrival, do not wait for me to let you in.
Walk in and be civilized.

Four: You are all equal while in the ballroom.
In my presence, if you are seen treating any gem without respect, you will be removed.

Five: Have fun."

Pink listed the rules without hesitation. She knew what she wanted done, even if Blue or White disagree.

"I know this has come off as rather sudden, but, I decided we needed a little event to cheer us up and rewarded us for our hard work."

Pink gave a faux smile before quickly losing it.

"To Blue And White Diamond: I miss you.
And I love you."

Her voice got choppy and pain laced her eyes as she said those final words.

"Goodbye."

She ended the stream off with a goodbye, not directed towards her servants. But towards the Diamonds.

When the stream ended, she put her head in her hands.

"My Diamond, are you al-"

"No! I'm not alright Pearl!"

Pink yelled into the air, pain littered her voice.

She would've been sobbing right now. But she couldn't. She cried those tears dry long ago.

"I can't do this anymore!
I wish they would talk to me!
I need them, but they act like I don't exist!"

Pink was broken. She wanted to help those around her, but she knew she needed it more.

"I wish things were different, maybe if I hadn't started the stupid rebellion, maybe if I just did as I was told, Yellow would still be here."

Pain made it's way back into her voice.

"I should've taken her place, be the one who got shattered for my war.
Maybe then, Blue and White would be happy, that I was out of their hair."

Pink gripped her hair, starting to pull it.

"Yellow wouldn't have cared all that much of me being gone, finally glad she could get rid of the Earth.

Blue would be sad at first, but she overall wouldn't have changed.

White wouldn't be in her own head, she would still be out, interacting with Yellow and Blue, having a fun time in the bath Blue has.

They would be happy."

Pink said, laying her head down into her lap, hating every passing second.

"And here I am, doing what Yellow would scold me for.

Not being diamond like.

I'm sitting here, trying my best to compose myself so I can have my gems be happy.

Because I know I don't deserve it."

Pink heard shuffling and felt two arm carefully wrap around her, the gem not saying a word.

"If I don't break due to the stress, one of the other two will from grief.

Then I will have to take their colony, because I would be the cause of it.

So the other doesn't have to deal with my mistake."

Pink laid like that for a while, silent.
Unmoving.

Eventually, she made herself get up and walk to the ballroom.

This has already been promised.

As Pink and her pearl was leaving, a certain monochrome pearl had left the room a different way.
Her tears are the only thing left behind.

While hers and White Diamond's sobs were the only things that filled the new room she entered.
