title from Punisher by Phoebe Bridgers.

(Slime if he went to limbo)

Work Text:

"Wah! HOT HOT." The slime yelled, as he yelled, and finally fell to the ground harshly.

"Hello?"

"Where is Quackity from Las Nevadas..?" The slime asked himself, examining his arms. It looked and felt as if he was melting, and although it didn't hurt, definitely was well uncomfortable.

Slime stood up with a small wobble, looking around. There were rocks and occasional pool of lava around, it looked dark, and like this place was meant for sad dragons.

"Quackity..? From Las Nevadas?" Slime yelled out, it somehow echoing throughout the dark eerie plane. "It's me, Sli-" He stopped to think. "Charlie. From Las Nevadas. I'm here.. I'm uh, I'm alive!" He yelled more.

It was silent.
.
.
Was he.. Really alive?
.
.
.
"Quackity?" A voice with much more echo in it asked with curiosity, but it was hoarse and sounded like they had a cold, or hadn't talked in years.

Charlie swiftly turned around to the voice, excited to see another face, but the smile on his face dropped, seeing the man who stood before him.

A ghost like man stood before him, covered in a blue-colored bloody yellow sweatshirt. The man was pale, and looked horribly sick, his shaking hands clinging onto his sweatshirt tightly. Charlie couldn't tell if he was scared, or tired, or both.

He stared at the slime, a blank, but curious expression sitting on his face, unmoving.

It took him a few moments to realize it wasn't who he thought it was, knowing Wilbur from.. nowhere would never look like this. At least that's what he thought from observing him for so long.

"Ghostbur from L'Manberg." Charlie commented, staring back at him, waiting for him to move.
.
.
.
.
"L'manberg?" He tilted his head in confusion, his grip on his sweatshirt loosening as they spoke.

"Uh, yeah."

"Why are you here?" Charlie asked.

"I'm dead." Ghostbur replied, surely, making Charlie raise his eyebrows in suprise.

"Yeah." He stopped for a moment to look the slime up and down. "Why are you here.. How did you get into my train station?" Ghostbur asked quietely.

"What?" He chuckled a bit, stepping back. "This isn't a.." He trailed off, as he turned to look, while pointing, "Train.. Station? B-But this was just a rocky lava place I.."

"Is this yours?" Ghostbur asked, completely ignoring their last conversation, and walking over, closer to give Charlie a pair of glasses that were on the floor.

The ghost walked over, slowly but surely, and shoved the glasses onto his face.

And even though it was him pushing on him, the man jumped, "Y-You're real!" He yelled, staring at him again.

"What?"

"I thought you weren't real!"

"I am! What are you talking about?"

Ghostbur stopped talking, walking back a bit and rocking on his heels with guilt.

"I-I'm sorry.. I've been here for quite some time and.. I've hallucinated my friends for so long.. But then you came and even though I didn't recognize you I still thought I was hallucinating you.. I'm so sorry.." He said as he got quieter.

"You don't need to be sorry, I hull-lusisinate sometimes too!" Charlie replied with exclamation.

"You do..?"
.
.
.
"What does that mean, actually?"

-----

"17 is a lot of years.."

Ghostbur nodded, as Charlie sat across from him on the station pavement, frowning.

"But I guess it's okay now, you're here with me." He replied, with a hint of smiling in his voice.
.
.
"Are we staying here forever?" Charlie asked, terrified of what this place was. He thought he knew everywhere, and where it was and what it was, but here it was like relearning everything again.

"Well we're dead so.. Yeah I guess so."

The slime stayed silent.

"W-Well we can pretend we're not dead!" Ghostbur exclaimed with all the energy left in him, standing up and looking down at Charlie.

"Is that okay?" Ghostbur asked, giving him a comforting smile.

For the first time in centuries, Charlie felt totally alone, although being alone until the last year of his life, he had no idea where he was and what anything was, he had to figure it all out again.

But this time, he wasn't alone. He had someone to show him what he needed to know..

And so, Ghostbur would teach Charlie everything he knows.

Charlie, would also teach Ghostbur a little something as well, which he realized he was quite good at. He would help Ghostbur relearn how to love, just as he did with Quackity.

Legacy.

Maybe this was his legacy?

Charlie thanked Quackity, smiling at the thought of knowing that maybe he'll be okay, and that he could show him what it really means to be human.
