No Touch

Summary:

Alec goes to Pandemonium to meet his boyfriend. While waiting, someone tried to flirt with him and they get a bit more than expected.

Notes:

This is for the lovely Ella. I hope you have a wonderful birthday and I hope this is decent enough to be worthy of you. 💕💕

If you haven't already read her fics, you need to as they are incredible!

I would like to apologise for my awful attempt at writing flirting. I cannot flirt to save my life which makes trying to write it kind of hard. Anyway, happy reading ❤️

Work Text:

Alec straightened his shirt as he arrived at Pandemonium to meet his boyfriend. Magnus had business at the club and Alec had agreed to meet him there after work. He’d finished his patrol, took a shower and headed out after letting Isabelle pick his outfit.

As Alec walked towards the door, he felt eyes on him. He knew that his sister had chosen his outfit so he would “blend in” but it was making him wish he’d activated his glamour. He was wearing a pair of black jeans and a navy blue shirt. The top few buttons were unbuttoned allowing a little of his chest hair to peek through. The doorman nodded at Alec as he walked up, letting him in without a second thought, and Alec couldn’t help but smile softly at the thought that he was always welcome in Magnus’ club. He chuckled at the grumbling from the people outside as he stepped across the threshold and his ears were assaulted by the music.

Alec wasn’t a fan of loud, crowded places but since dating Magnus, he felt protected inside Pandemonium. He assumed it was because the place had wards that always seemed to care for Alec and make sure he was okay.

Alec carefully weaved across the dance floor and headed for the bar. Magnus knew that that was where Alec would wait for him. It was Alec’s go-to place as it meant he could see what was happening and he had a good view of the VIP section, and therefore of Magnus.

Alec sat in his usual spot and before he could ask, the bartender was placing his usual drink in front of him. He was still getting used to drinking alcohol but this drink had become a favourite. It was fruity and sweet but not that strong. Alec thanked the girl and turned so he could watch Magnus. The warlock was sitting on his sofa, a few downworlders around him and they seemed to be in a heated discussion about something.

“You can go up there you know,” the bartender, Ella, suddenly said, nodding towards the VIP area.

“I know, I just don’t want to bother them,” Alec replied, glancing at her with a small smile.

Ella scoffed, “As if Magnus would ever think you were a bother,” she teased, “he never shuts up about you.”

Alec flushed, making the girl chuckle as he moved to serve someone else. Alec watched Magnus some more, periodically checking his phone to make sure his siblings were behaving. His attention was drawn from his boyfriend when someone cleared their throat beside him.

“Is this seat taken?” the man asked, running his eyes over Alec’s chest.

Alec shook his head, his focus already going back to Magnus.

“I’m Colin,” the man said, stretching out his hand.

“Alec,” Alec replied, shaking the hand.

“What brings you here, Alec?” Colin asked, taking a sip of his drink.

“I’m waiting for someone,” Alec replied. “What about you?”

“I’m looking for a good time,” Colin said, his voice dropping slightly. “You’re a handsome man, how about you come and dance with me and maybe I’ll show you…” Colin wasn’t able to finish his sentence, having suddenly fallen off his stool.

“By the angel, are you alright?” Alec exclaimed, moving to help the man up.

“I’m fine,” Colin huffed rather embarrassed.

“What happened?” Alec asked returning to his seat and glancing at Ella who seemed to be trying very hard not to laugh.

“I’m not sure,” Colin replied. “It felt like I was pushed.” He paused for a moment before moving closer to Alec, “Maybe you could make it up to me,” he whispered, his tone low as he raised an eyebrow.

Before Alec could even respond, the man stumbled backwards and a faint hissing sound filled the air. MINE!

The man blinked, looking around the room. “What was that?” he asked, starting to get a bit angry.

Alec, who hadn’t heard anything because his focus had shifted to his boyfriend who had just dropped his glamour, turned back towards Colin.

“What was what?”

Colin blinked, “that sound,”

Alec was about to ask what the man was talking about and if he needed some help when a flash of blue caught his attention and he turned to watch Magnus’ magic swirl around the table in front of him and his guests, replacing the empty glasses with fresh ones.

While Alec was distracted, Colin went to move closer, planning on kissing the man’s neck to bring his attention back to him but he found that he was unable to get close. Mine, the hissing sound repeated, you touch, you die.

Colin looked slightly scared before turning and sprinting from the club. Alec turned back just in time to see the man’s back disappear into the crowd. He was about to comment on it when Ella suddenly burst out laughing.

“What’s so funny?” Alec asked, raising an eyebrow at the bartender.

“Alec, that guy was flirting with you,” she began only for Alec to cut her off.

“No, he wasn’t.”

“He was,” Ella repeated, only for Alec to lose the train of the conversation as his focus once again switched to Magnus.

Ella shook her head and got back to work, still keeping an eye on the shadowhunter.

Over the following few hours, any mundane who tried to hit on Alec somehow ended up falling off their seat, tripping over nothing and stumbling backwards, or spilling their drinks down themselves. They all left confused while the downworlders tried not to laugh at the sight of Magnus’ magic, shimmering red just behind the shadowhunter like some kind of magical bodyguard, chasing away anyone who tried to get too close.

Notes:

I hope you enjoyed it and didn't cringe too badly.
