Work Text:
Namgung is a large woman, much larger than most people to the point that she could easily dwarf them while hunched over. Her intimidating height chased away any chance at love but it was fine, she had her disciple and that was all that mattered.
Then one day that useless disciple of hers began making mistakes he wouldn't normally make. His eyes weren't focused on his target and he was taking way too many blows, if he wanted to learn he should always pay attention to his opponent the hard way that was fine with her.
After the twentieth consecutive loss in a row she gave up and decided to ask the boy what's got him so distracted. Yoo Joonghyuk just stoically wraps his hands in his hand wraps and shuffles in place.
She clicks her tongue and Yoo Joonghyuk flinches, this boy was definitely hiding something from him wasn't he? In a blur of movement her hand juts out and grabs him by the shoulders, wrestling him into a headlock. She began messing up his hair until he cried out for her to stop and she waited with an expectant look.
He guiltily points to the other side of the district, the upper class side that had more fancy shemancy teachers.
"So you wanna learn from some prissy rich teacher, is that it? Coulda just told me and saved yourself the pain" she scoffs.
"That's not it!" He cries out before shuffling back in place mumbling something she couldn't hear.
Namgung rolls her eyes, "speak up kid"
“..ik… m.. ne..”
“What was that?” he mumbles again, “huh?”
"I like someone okay! Can we just go back to training? I won't get distracted this time," Yoo Joonghyuk turned his head so he didn't have to face the embarrassment of telling his mentor that he had a crush on someone. Namgung can already feel a shit eating grin form on her face.
"Oh no, for today's lesson, we're going on a field trip," Yoo Joonghyuk can feel an underlying sense of dread pool in his gut as he tries to avoid her grabby hands.
Keyword being tried as she kicks him in the gut and plucks him up on her shoulder the minute he's hunched over in pain.
"Shoulda paid more attention to the lesson huh pipsqueak?"
Yoo Joonghyuk could only groan in response as she walked them to the upper class district ignoring all the strange looks they got. They made for quite a sight, a behemoth of a woman carrying a teen around like he weighed nothing more than a couple of grapes. To make things even worse, Yoo Joonghyuk hadn't even gotten changed out of his training uniform. Which was to say he was shirtless in nothing but black pants and his hand wraps. They weren't very strict on uniform requirements.
Namgung kicked down the door to the kendo studio and dropped him on the tatami mats. Yoo Joonghyuk crossed his arms to try and reserve some of his dignity as prying eyes peeked at his well built body.
"So which one is it?" She snickered as her student tried his best to remain stoic.
An upper middle ranked kendo student caught her eyes, shining brighter than the rest as he performed a perfect swing. No movement was wasted as the straw was demolished beneath his sword.
She whistled in appreciation and nudged her apprentice in a teasing manner, "he could probably beat your ass now couldn't he?"
She looked down and Yoo Joonghyuk's cheeks were tinged pink and oh. Oh. This was great. Her apprentice had a thing for people who could kick his ass. The kendo student bowed to a man with blue hair, eyes meeting her apprentices as a large smile split his face.
His eyes sparkled with mirth as he waved to them bouncing on the heels of his feet. The student said a couple of words to the blue haired man and came bounding over, greeting the two of them.
"Joonghyuk-ah! What are you doing here?"
So they were on a pet name basis? Yoo Joonghyuk's ears flushed a darker shade of red and Namgung couldn't stop her grin. This student had his apprentice wrapped around his pretty little fingers. Yoo Joonghyuk hated pet names but he was probably a sucker for this student and let him do as he pleased.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. I'm Kim Dokja"
Well her apprentice sure did pick well. "Namgung Miyoung, the master of this pipsqueak"
She throws an arm around his shoulders and his face hardens, he must've really liked this Kim Dokja kid if he was worried about appearances.
"Alright, I'll let you talk to your little boyfriend here. Don't let me stop you from your fun"
Both of them flushed simultaneously and Yoo Joonghyuk dragged his crush off to some remote area.
She'd smack her apprentice in the back of the head later for not introducing her to his new found crush. The blue haired approached her, standing with his shoulders squared, chin tilted up in a bit of a condescending manner.
If she didn't absolutely dwarf this man then she'd probably be a little intimidated but he mainly gave off stuck up rich boy vibes. Minus ten in intimidation factor. Also he looked to be about 177 centimeters, barely half her height. Another deduction for intimidation factor.
"I'm Kyrgios Rodgraim, Kim Dokja's master." He held his hand out.
"Namgung Miyoung the master of the one talking to your apprentice," She grabbed it, crushing his hand as she shook it forgetting her strength, apologizing profusely.
"Oh shoot, I'm sorry about that. I forgot how weak some of you little ones were." She let go of his hand but his grip seemed to only tighten in response. If she were a weaker woman she'd say it almost hurt, this Kyrgios guy really had a grip on him didn't he.
"It's alright, sometimes I forget how brutish you big people are"
"Excuse me, are you trying to start a fight?"
"I am not, but I won't hesitate to end one if necessary"
Her eye twitched, this man really had some nerve, and to think she thought he was decent at first.
"Yoo Joonghyuk were leaving! Say your farewells to your boyfriend" She hollered, she clenched her fist when she heard him whisper under his breath.
She did not hit little people. She did not hit little people. She did not hit little people.
When Yoo Joonghyuk was taking too long to say his goodbyes she hauled him onto her shoulder and marched right out of the building. They were never setting foot in that building ever again.
