Sunburn

Summary:

Part of my Christmas gift to myself.

A glimpse into a nice holiday Shouto and Eijirou share.

Day 1

Work Text:

One of the perks of having a boyfriend whose family is loaded is vacation. Ski vacation in Switzerland, to be exact, because they, apparently, own a holiday hut in the alps. Usually, Eijirou would return home over the holidays, and exercise all day. Yes, he loves his moms, and yes, he also loves how beautifully the old village shimmers in the low burn of outdated Christmas lights, but there is nothing more to do there. It is, quite frankly, deadly boring. Eijirou was sure that in a few years, the village will be a ghost town. The young ones moved to the city, the old ones six feet under. The poke is barely detectable through the layers of winter clothing he wears, but it still manages to get his attention. Right, they are almost at the top again. The ski lift screeches and they rase the safety barrier to hop out. They scurry away from the exit, and Eijirou feels his partner tugging him along. While he was learning how to ski all morning with an instructor and enjoying lazy descents together after lunch, it’s the first time he is actually on the mountain summit. And this is exactly where they are going. They leave their skis at the restraint and trudge through the snow with their chunky ski boots. When they arrive, they both breath heavily, sweat runs down their faces despite the icy temperature. Eijirou grins wide. They take off one glove to intertwine their fingers and just look. The sun broke through a bunch of gray clouds on their way up and paints everything golden. On one side, there are hundreds of people skiing and snowboarding and sledding down the hill. They don’t look like ants yet, the couple is not that far up, but they could not distinguish any person. On the other side are trees and untouched snow masses. The descend is too steep to be save. No one goes there. They stay long enough to see a deer come out between some fir trees and nibble on the branches. It is so cold that the snow crystals shine pink. He smells the snow. It bites at his nose. Eijirou looks to his side, only to see that Shouto has taken off his ski glasses. He does the same and drags him closer. Close enough to kiss these angry red lips. They are chapped, but so are his. Neither stops. He enjoys Shoutos warm breath on his skin. The sun holds them in a cozy blanket. The snow eats away most noises. Its just the two of them.
“Thank you for showing me.”, whispers the redhead. Shouto tilts his head. He opens his mouth, closes it again. Reconsiders. “Any time.”
Now that Eijirou looks at his boyfriend, really looks at him, he sees it. And laughs. Shouto looks startled at the sudden mood change. Gently, but still laughing, Eijirou lifts up his hand to touch the others cheeks.
“Kirishima?” For once, Eijirou ignores the false formality.
“You have a sunburn, Sho. On your right side.” Now Shouto pokes at his skin.
“Oh. Its been a while since I had one.”
“I didn’t know you could get one in winter.”
“Yes. The snow reflects the light. Like when you are in water.”
“Oh, well… Do you want to go back to your cabin? I can put on some ointment.”
Shouto suddenly smiles mischievous. “We will be the first ones to end the ski day.”
“Let’s go then!”
