Work Text:

Andrew was laying in his room, bundled up under his sheets. It was early in the morning, and he couldn’t get himself to go back to sleep. Eventually, after a few minutes he decided to get up and start his day. He had a few matches today, which was disheartening, as he wanted to relax. But he didn’t have to go for a while, so he decided to visit the garden to start his day. He put on his uniform, and quietly walked out of his room. It was very quiet in the manor, as most of his teammates were still sound asleep. He wasn’t about to complain though, he liked having peace and quiet. He made his way to the garden door, picking up a watering can on his way out. He always liked to water the irises, even during the winter. He couldn’t bear to let them wither. He slowly made his way to the purple flowers, but he was caught off guard by a blonde head of hair. The figure looked behind them, making eye contact with Andrew. Oh, that must be Victor. Andrew got along with him fairly well, appreciating his quiet demeanor and polite manners. The blonde treated Andrew like an equal, a friend, which made him feel comfortable around the other. Victor shuffled around in his bag, supposedly looking for something, while politely smiling at the other. He finally took his hand out, now holding a notepad and a pen. Andrew almost forgot that the other couldn’t speak, he just assumed that he didn’t want to talk. Victor wrote something down, in very neat handwriting and showed the notepad to Andrew. “Hello, Andrew! Sorry about the late reply, I wasn’t expecting to see anyone here, since it’s so early. What are you doing here, anyway?” Andrew looked back at Victor, and then looked at the ground. “Oh, Uh, I was just going to water the irises. Sorry if I interrupted you.” Victor shook his head, and continued writing.” No, you’re completely fine! I’m actually here to water the sunflowers! By the way, I noticed the iris on your uniform. Do you like irises?” The blonde looked at Andrew with curious eyes. To Andrew, his eyes looked similar to the sunflowers he was just wondering. Wait what? Since when did he think like that? He snapped out of his thoughts when what Victor had written had registered in his mind. “Um, yes, I do like irises. They remind me of my m-mother.” Victor looked at him with sympathetic eyes, while Andrew’s face was dusted with a light shade of pink. His eyes, they still looked like the flowers next to him! They could even be compared to the sun. Victor was looking to the side, most likely noticing Andrew’s staring. “O-Oh, Um, sorry! You just kind of remind me of a sunflower.” He blurted out. Did he seriously just say that? Out loud? To some guy he barely knows? He’d think about this forever. Andrew’s face was bright red, as he grrrr the avoided eye contact. His internal monologue about how stupid he was was interrupted by a tap on his shoulder. Victor handed him his notepad, also blushing a very reasonable amount. “Really? I’m flattered, sunflowers are my favorites! If you think about it, you’re kind of like in iris, too. Dark and mysterious, but very cool!” Andrew read the last part a few times. He thinks i’m cool? If it wasn’t Victor telling him that, he’d think that he was lying. But Victor was the most genuine, kindhearted person he’d met, other than his mother of course. Victor was smiling at him, still blushing. Andrew didn’t notice that much though, he was too focused that VICTOR, one of the most well liked people in the manor called him cool. “Um, thanks. Nobody’s ever called me cool before..” He looked at the ground, fidgeting with the watering can in his hands. “That’s strange, you’re very cool! And I know that there have to be other people that feel the same way, but they just haven’t said so.” Victor wrote a little smiley face next to the message, which made Andrew smile. “Sorry, but i don’t think so. I’ve only been called a monster by others, and ever since I’ve arrived at the manor everyone’s seemed scared of me..” Victor’s eyes softened. He wrote another thing down, and put an arm on the albino’s shoulder. “That’s not true! Emma told me that she’d like to get to know you more, but she says that she never gets the chance to speak with you. I’m sorry that you think that though, but trust me, we do want to talk to you!” Andrew read the page and looked at the other, surprised. “Are you sure? Was she just saying that to be nice?” He exclaimed. Victor nodded his head, still smiling as genuinely as ever. “Of course! Emma is one of the most honest people in the manor, and she seems genuinely intrigued! She’s seen you in the garden, but she doesn’t want to interrupt you. But trust me, we all like you more then you might think.” He jotted. Like me? He doesn’t mean it in that way, what are you thinking. God, you barely know this guy, much less anyone else at this place. You need to stop making assumptions, you- His thoughts were interrupted by Victor’s notepad. “Are you okay? You seem stressed, do you need to be left alone? I’d understand, don’t worry.” The blonde looked up at the slightly taller man, with those worried sunflower eyes. “Um, yeah, i’m fine. I still need to water my irises though. Uh, I-I’ll see you around, Victor.” Andrew was still blushing like crazy. He knew the blonde wouldn’t judge him though, he’s just not that kind of person. Victor waved to the white haired man, with a big grin on his face, and those still captivating eyes.

Maybe Andrew would visit the sunflowers more often.
