I'll Be Brave This Christmas

Summary:

The song I'll be brave this Christmas turned song fic. I decided to have the kids of Hamilton Laurens and Lafayette write a letter.
The kids are different ages, I'll let you choose. But I think Georges is pretty young.

Notes:

I tried to write a song-fic, not sure if it turned out any good, but I'll post it anyway.
I debated on whether to put Francis in or not, considering I don't think she ever knew her father, but decided to put her in in the end.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Dear Daddy,

I missed you a lot today, Mama unpacked our Christmas tree. We decorated it together, and you know the angel we always put on top? Well, it's never looked so good up there! But my heart was really sad when you weren't there to lift me up like you usually do. It's been a long time since you left to go fight in the war, so this year I didn't ask for anything but for you to come home. I'll be brave this Christmas, while you're still far away. and Every night I pray that Jesus keeps you safe.

And I'm so proud of you, and hope you come home soon. But until you do, I'll be brave this Christmas.

Your loving daughter,

Francis Laurens

Dear Papa,

I see bright lights all over the neighbor's house. and I remember you told me about rockets that flash in the sky where you are, so we can both see pretty lights! Even if yours are kind of loud and scary.

And Mama and Anastaisie and I, we sang some carols yesterday, we sang one about peace on earth and Mama says thet you're living out the cost of it tonight. I miss you dear Papa, but if another little boy can grow up just like me, living in a place that is safe and free, then I can be brave this Christmas, while you're so far away. And I kneel beside my bed each night praying Jesus keeps you safe.

Because I'm so proud of you, and I hope you come home soon. But until you do, I'll be brave this Christmas.

Keep Fighting for Glory and Liberty Papa!

GEORGES

Dear Dad,

I know that freedom isn't free, and there's a price to pay when duty calls, My teacher told me it takes sacrifce from us all.

But I also know Mom is worried about you, she tries to hide it, but I know she is. So please don''t be reckless, and tell Uncle John and Uncle Laf to be safe too. Angie and Alex miss you a lot, and I do too, but I'll be brave this Christmas, while You're still far away. And I pray that you'll be safe.

And we're all so proud of you, and hope you come home soon. But until you do, I'll be brave this Christmas.

Your eldest son,

Phillip Hamilton

Notes:

Welp, this turned out sadder then I expected.
