Stupid Love Tests - an Oumeno Fic

Summary:

Day 7 of Oumeno Week

Prompt : Free day/Giving back to the community
- - -
Hiya! I originally had decided to skip day 7, but mid oumeno week I decided to try and write for it. Didn't turn out as expected and the finished product was rushed as hell. I might remake it and upload it late December or scrap it entirely. That being said, I felt like I had to do day 7 so I'm taking a weird prompt for free day. Hope you like it!

Notes:

In which Himiko and Kokichi take a dumb internet test to see how compatible they are.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"Whatcha doin' there Himi~?" Kokichi opened the bedroom door, looking at a tired Himiko who was scrolling her finger on her phone. She sighed, relieved he finally came home. She was starting to think Shuichi had kept him in maths tutoring for five more hours just because he sucked at algebra.

"Nyeh.. Nothing much.." Himiko wasn't really lying, since scrolling through a random app for hours on end felt like doing nothing. She heard him put down his bags which were probably weighted by random algebra books. He went into the closet and changed into a tank top and black boxers. The noise of him collapsing face-first into the bed didn't startle her since this was a daily habit for him now.

"If it's really nothing much then.." he slowly made his way to her side of the bed and wrapped his arms around her. She was about to let out a squeak when she felt him affectionately nibbling her ear. She turned around so he would stop but he just insisted on giving her love. He realized that she was hyper-focused on her phone, so she slowly crept his hand on her hand which was holding her phone, opened it as if though he just wanted to hold her hand, and snatched the phone.

"K-Kokichi! Give it back I was doing something!" He lifted his torso up and held the phone as high as he could. He squinted his eyes, looking at her slyly.

"You just told me a minute ago that you were doing nothing.. are you picking after me~?" She crossed her arms under her chest and pouted at him. "And be a little liar with you? In your dreams.. Now give me back my-"

An abrupt "ping" sound broke through the air. Kokichi brought the phone down to look at it, dodging Himiko's hands as they tried to grab it.

"Hmm.. a compatibility test? Himi, I never knew you liked these types of things~" He looked her straight in the eye, catching her off guard. She mumbled, "it's.. just one of those dumb pop-ups- just give me back my phone right now!" She stood up, jumping on the bed, trying to reach. Unfortunately for her, this ended up in her slipping her footing on the sheets and falling on top of Kokichi on the ground.

"Ow.. All because of a pop up too.." She got off of him and went back to sitting on the bed, cranky that he wasn't giving back her phone for anything. Suddenly, an idea struck Kokichi. He got up painstakingly, holding the phone straight in front of him as if to tease Himiko.

"Hey, hey Himiko-" she looked straight at him, seeing the phone just dangling in front of her, "What if we take this test, and if we get a low score, I'll never ever take your phone again!" She stared at him. Without missing a beat, she got up from the couch and got in his face, having a tired smirk on her face.

"Nyeh, I guess it's fine then..." She grabbed his free hand and both of them laid back down on the bed. Kokichi lifted a blanket over them and Himiko got the air conditioning on with the remote on the bedside table. The purple-haired boy took the phone from his bag which was close to the bed and both of them opened up the website. They both looked at each other once more, confident that they'd be the winner of this deal, before going back to looking at their screens.

"Hmm.. first question.. What spirit animal are you and what is your partner's spirit animal?" There weren't many options to choose from, which got Kokichi rather annoyed.

"Who even has a snake as their spirit animal!? Where're the donkeys and the foxes?" Himiko looked at him, ready to cast a spell on him to shut up about donkeys.

"Oh well.. I'll just choose snake for you.. and turtle for me."

"Guess I'll do the same since nothing else describes us.." They both pressed "yes" and moved on to the second question.

"Your favourite colour and your S/O's favourite colour.."

"What the hell!? WHERE'S PURPLE!?"

"Kokichi, just choose your second favourite colour-"

"I can't CHOOSE between white and black Himiko!"

"Ack- Fine then choose your third favourite," he looked her straight in the eyes and grinned.

"Sadly there's no "love of my life, Himiko" option so any other suggestions~?" She stuttered out a "N-Nyeh!?" and just moved on, hoping that he chose one out of black and white.

They got through the next couple of questions relatively fine before hitting another dead end.

"So this one's.. you and your partner's favourite past time?" She looked at the options, they weren't so broad either.

"Ugh Himiko, whatever account you follow, they suck at being inclusive. I mean, where's the vandalizing option? Or the arson-committing option?"

"N-Nyeh!? Vandalizing isn't my favourite past time- And neither is arson! Wait, when have you committed arson.." He let out a short giggle before saying; "I'm just lying Himiko, you should know by now!" She wasn't sure to believe him but for sanity's sake and the fact she didn't want to imagine her already crazy boyfriend to be burning down buildings, she would. Hopefully it was one of his frequent lies.

"Well, which option do we choose.." She suddenly felt him get all close to her, foreheads touching and breaths exchanging. He brought a hand to her face and said, "Cuddling seems to be the most accurate~" She whacked away his hand and put in cuddling, ignoring the small kisses he'd place on her face every now and then.

They'd gotten a few more general questions, like birthdays, zodiacs, personality types, etc. Then, they reached the final question.

"Are you.. serious enough with your partner that you'd consider marrying them and having/adopting kids with them?" They just looked at each other from their screens for a moment. Each said "obviously" in their heads but didn't want to admit it. So, they just silently agreed not to say anything about that question, and clicked what they thought were different answers.

They both submitted the answers and waited for the page to load in. During that time an uncomfortable silence decided to settle in between them. What if they'd gotten the birthdays wrong? Or the colours? And the question about taking it serious made them the most nervous. If these results came out different, it'd be concerni-

*Ping*

Himiko looked down at her phone first and went completely red. She kept her phone on the bed side table near her and shoved her face in her hands. Kokichi looked after her, watching her adorably dumb reaction to whatever the score was.

"Nishishi! Himi, Himi, look we got a hundred percent! Wait a minute, did we get the same on yours?" He quickly grabbed her phone off of the table and looked at the screens. You could here the slyest giggle come out of his mouth when he did look. He inhaled in the middle of his cackling and kept the phones back onto the table. Quietly, he slid one of his arms around her, the free one grabbing her hand so he could see her face.

"Himiko relax, it's just a test. Now the one thing you shouldn't be relaxing about is the fact that I," he grinned widely at her, "Now get to cuddle with you for the rest of the day."

The red haired girl made sure never to let her expression peek through her fingers but in reality, he didn't really need to see her face to know that she was dying from the result she got. He kissed at her fingers that were on her face, sending her into an even more of a dazed whim than she'd been in earlier.

As he covered her entire face in chaste smooches, teasing her through the entire thing. She'd fallen asleep at one point and as soon as he realized it, he got closer to her and pet her head. He could do this forever. As long as it took to see that expression on her face. He slept with a smirk that night, knowing that the both of them had clicked the "Yes, I would marry this person and have/adopt children with them" option. How else would they have gotten the same perfect score?
