Work Text:

The saturday afternoon outside the window was a peaceful one. With a few clouds coloring the sky, the sun shined through the windows and a soft wind entered from time to time to cool the atmosphere.

Jeanne sat with her legs crossed on the couch of their small apartment. Pencil on her hand, sticking her tongue out, she carefully drawed a line that completed a part of the sketch she was working on. It was almost done.

Almost... done...

"No!" Jeanne said, pouting.

"What's wrong?" The girl in front of her said, putting down the book she was reading and walking towards the kitchen counter.

"You were supposed to stay still." Jeanne said, frowning.

Domi laughed. "But I want a cup of water!"

"But I want to draw you!" Jeanne said, showing her girlfriend the drawing she was working on.

A girl sitting with one leg over the other, holding a book of poetry was shown on the paper. She was wearing her hair loose, her right hand held the book and the other one was under her chin. Her face looked calm, like she was completely immersed by what she was reading.

"You look really pretty."

Domi smiled and frowned. "You're just being nice." She said, playfully.

"I'm not, Domi. You are really pretty." Jeanne said, looking down at the drawing and adding a few more lines. "I'm lucky I was the one to win your heart, you know?" She smiled playfully too.

Domi laughed as she approached her girlfriend. "I'm lucky to have you with me," she bent down and gave Jeanne a kiss on her forehead. Jeanne sighed.

She was happy.

She continued drawing while Domi sat down at her spot on the other couch, resuming her poetry reading.

Their days went on like this, and none of them would like them to be any other way.

Lately, due to college, both girls had been busy with exams and projects. Jeanne was an art student who worked day and night on her paintings and portraits, she had her own room in their department that was full of art materials and canvases.

Domi, on the other hand, was a literature student. She would spend all the time she could writing whatever came to her mind, enjoying every word from her favorite books and looking at Jeanne paint. It gave her inspiration, so it was a nice thing to do too.

Jeanne looked over to Domi. "Can you please hold your book a little bit up?"

Domi looked over at her and smiled. "Like this?" She said, doing as instructed.

"Yup. Thanks!" Jeanne smiled.

Domi smiled softly and looked back to her book, but there was something that made her want to keep looking at the girl who was so concentrated on her sketch.

Jeanne looked beautiful.

Her white short hair was messy, creating a sort of white aura around her. She was sticking out her tongue and Domi thought it was cute how she always did that to concentrate. Her amber eyes moved from side to side to follow her pencil, and her pale hands held the paper and pencil carefully, almost as if they were made out of glass. Domi thought she looked beautiful, how delicately she traced limes over the paper, how her amber eyes lit up everytime she got the form she wanted.

Those same eyes looked up, then, and found her. Domi smiled.

It was just like that time when Domi had realized she had fallen in love with her.

They were in high school. They had been friends since freshman year, finding a group of friends in common and slowly starting to know each other.

Jeanme admired Domi and Domi admired Jeanne. Jeanne admired Domi's toughness and how she never let anyone make her feel less. How strong she was. How she knew she could be pretty and strong at the same time.

Domi admired how Jeanne always spoke her mind when she knew she had to, how strong-minded she was,  always fighting for what she deemed right. She loved her view of the world, and how much she cared for the ones she loved.

She made her feel safe.

And Domi didn't know when was it that those feelings of admiration started to become something else.

Though, she remembered the exsct moment where she knew what that "something else" was.

Jeanne was in the art room finishing one of her paintings to present to the art school she wanted to apply to. Her hair was longer back then, half of it put up in a small bun and her clothes covered with an overall. She had forgotten something in her locker and had been running in a hurry, passing by a group of students that were hanging out outside in the hallway. When she returned, Domi had been standing inside the art room, admiring Jeanne's painting.

It was the painting of a girl that looked more like a nymph, with black hair and smooth skin that was surrounded by the most beautiful landscape, one that looked taken out of a fairytale.

Domi was left with no words to say.

It looked like her. But in a way she could have never imagined someone could see her. It was almost too egocentric to even say that the woman on the painting looked like her.

Yes, Domi knew she was pretty.

But to think Jeanne could make her look like this...

That she saw her like this...?

It made her feel a sort of way she never had imagined feeling.

That no one had ever made her feel.

Their eyes met as soon as Jeanne entered the room and she didn't know what to say.

Jeanne had looked at her and smiled shyly, blushing.

"Oh. Hi, Domi." She had said, looking back at the girl's eyes.

"Jeanne... this..." Domi was out of words. "This is incredible."

"You think so?" Jeanne had smiled brightly, looking down quickly to her hands.

"Y-yeah," Domi was still looking at Jeanne.

Jeanne fidgeted and looked up again with a thought on her mind. She spoke:

"I got my inspiration from you."

Domi's heart skipped a beat and she felt warmth on her chest.

It was really from her?

"My concept was beauty, and I wanted to capture the beauty that felt out of this world..." Jeanne was looking sweetly at her friend. "I needed an inspiration for the figure on the center, and well, I stopped to think and I chose you."

Jeanne had smiled sweetly, blush on her cheeks.

Domi didn't quite remember anything more after that.

Just that she realized she might have fallen in love with Jeanne.

"Why are you staring, Domi?" Jeanne said grinning, making Domi's mind come back to where she was.

"I'm sorry." She shook her head lightly to wake herself up. She tilted her head and rested it on her hand. "I just can't stop thinking about you."

Jeanne blushed. "Yeah sure." She laughed.

"Jeanne, you are beautiful."

"I am?" Jeanne said, shyly.

"Mhm." Domi smiled and tilted her head to the other side, resting it now on the other hand.

"Dear Domi, why are you suddenly saying this?" She said, playfully.

"I don't know." Domi let her book down on the table next to her and looked up, thinking. "I was just thinking about that day when I saw that painting you made inspired on me."

Jeanne laughed. "Yeah, by that moment I had been crushing on you for quite a time."

"No way! Me too!" Domi acted surprised, smiling brightly, like they haven't had this conversation before.

Both girls laughed and smiled.

They felt safe and happy.

"Come here." Domi opened her arms to welcome Jeanne next to her in the couch she was sitting on.

Jeanne left her pencil and paper on the table and went to sit next to Domi, hugging her waist and resting her head on her shoulder.

Domi placed another kiss on Jeanne's forehead and they sat there, hugging each other, enjoying the warm weather, enjoying their company.

Jeanne lifted her head to give featherlight kisses to Domi's neck. Domi catched the sign and closed the distance between them by grabbing Jeanne's chin with her hand, kissing her soft lips in a way it felt like she was gonna break.

Jeanne was hers, only hers.

This gorgeous girl loved her.

Jeanne lifted her right hand and cupped Domi's face to deepen the kiss. She sighed, and Domi smiled against her lips. They parted, and Domi shifted in her place so she could lie down on the couch, with jeanne hugging her and resting her head on her chest now. She buried her face on Domi's chest and listened to the fast beating of her heart.

A heart that was beating fast for her.

"Domi do you wanna watch a movie?" Jeanne asked.

"Okay. I'm picking it, though." Domi said, closing her eyes and resting her chin on Jeanne's head.

Jeanne made a complaining noise and Domi chuckled lightly, opening her eyes to look at Jeanne. She could almost see her pouting face.

"Im choosing the snacks then." Jeanne said, hugging Domi tighter.

"Of course, my darling." Domi said, playfully.

Jeanne chuckled against Domi's chest. Both girls smiled.

They felt at peace.

"Domi."

"Hm?"

"Can you make me tea for the movie?"

"Yes I can" she giggled.

After a while of silence, Jeanne spoke again.

"Domi."

"Hm?"

"I love you." She whispered, closing her eyes.

Domi smiled and felt her heart warm.

"I love you too." Domi replied, closing her eyes as well.

They truly wouldn't have it any other way.
