Chapter 1: Two couples and a teenage pop star, or An elf, a child, a book worm and a loud snorer?

Chapter Text

"What are you listening to?"

Albedo plucked the earphone from his right ear and tore his gaze away from the moving scenery that his window displayed. Him and his family were currently moving towns, and just so happened to get stuck in traffic- an excuse for conversation, just great.

"Uhm...white noise?" Alice let out a snort.

"Bullshit- Don't copy that word please Klee. Albedo, you hate white noise- now tell me, what are you really listening to?

He quickly looked away, blushing. No, he could never admit to his mother that he was listening to music made for horny teenage girls- and liking it; he would never see the light of day again. He had to think of a lie, and fast.

Bingo.

"I wasn't really listening to anything, I hoped that if it looked like I was then nobody would try start up a conversation.."

That'll do the trick, for sure.

"Right, well clearly that little 'plan' of yours isn't working. So, i guess, since it's already failed..we might as well continue speaking!"

This time Klee, who was sitting beside Albedo, decided to jump in. "Oo- I know, lets play a game! How about I spy?" In response, Alice clapped her hands in delight and squealed.

"Yes, great idea! I'll go first- hmm...I spy with my little eye, something beginning with...T!"

"Ooo Klee has an idea! It's Dodoco right?" Klee picks up the bunny plushie from her lap and holds it in the air, beaming proudly.

Albedo sits up and turns to Klee. "Nice try, but I'm pretty sure Dodoco starts with a 'D'."

"I'm afraid he's right, Klee," Alice speaks softly, "Maybe next time."

"Aww man- but Klee was so sure of it! Oh well.. your turn now Albedo!"

The boy looks away from the window, puzzled. "Oh, uh, Timaeus." He points to the sleeping guy in the passenger seat, drawing attention to his obnoxious snores.

"Wow, uh, correct! How did you know?" Albedo returned his gaze to the window once more.

"Lucky guess. May I have a turn?" Alice turns and looks at Albedo, face plastered with minor shock.

"Oh, uh..sure!"

His focus remaining on the window, he says, "I spy with my little eye, something beginning with S."

The car fell silent, until Klee's head perked up. "I know, I know! This one I'm sure of- It's Sucrose, right?"

The person on the left of Klee, who had been quiet the whole ride, finally looked up from their book, puzzled.

"Huh"

"No, it's not Sucrose. Oh, you can go back to reading, it's okay" Sucrose murmured a low "thank you" as they returned their focus to the science book that lay in their lap. Which, not like anyone was counting, they had read 36 times.

This year.

Alice sighed. "Aw man, that was gonna be my guess too! Okay Albedo, you got us, now what's the answer?

Albedo looked Alice dead in the eye (well, not really, he's terrified of eye contact) and said "Someone who wont let me be."

"You can't say that, silly," Klee giggled, "Its has to be more specific so that's against the rules."

"There are no rules" Albedo scoffed. Everyone was quiet for a second before he continued, "I should have went in Jean's car." The traffic was moving now, so Alice's eyes stayed fixed on the road.

"Okay, one, there's no space in Jean's car, and two, would you really rather spend this long journey listening to her and Lisa flirt than spend it with your family?"

"Lisa, Jean and Barbara are family too. And I'd rather listen to Barbara's singing than Timaeus' snores."

Albedo can't see it, but Alice rolls her eyes.

"Razor's there, he's usually quiet." He adds.

"Razor's boyfriend Bennett is coming along too, he's always telling Razor about his adventures." Klee giggled at the mention of her two friends. Albedo falls silent before turning on his phone and resuming his music.

'Silence is golden, and you've got my hopes up. We talk too much'

This was one of his favourites. His 'favourites' only consisting of ones sung by the guitarist, of course. He decided to sing along quietly;

'No hesitation, what are we waiting for?

We talk too much.'

Song: Talk too much, COIN

Something to mention: I'm not sure of any character's exact age, so if any of the characters that attend the college in future chapters are considered too old to be in college, I apologize in advance.
