Work Text:

The school year was finally over, which meant that there was no more studying, no more tests, no more pulling all-nighters. One major phase of the year had finally come to an end, and now it was time to start the second phase. Over summer break, for the last few years, you had taken up a job as a camp counselor for a summer camp, and you had despised yet also loved every single bit of it. Your summer camp catered to children on the younger side, roughly around the ages of seven to around eleven or twelve. These young children were at a very impressionable age in their lives, and controlling a herd of tiny 4 feet tall humans, who seemed to copy everything their friends did, was extremely difficult. But somehow, you guys managed to make it work.

Every year, just the same as the one before, Hoseok and you would carpool the journey over to camp. He was also a counselor just like you, the two of you had been best friends growing up, and your parents had made a join decision 8 years ago to ship you off to a summer camp, where you spent the whole summer making the old counselors chase after you, cleaning up your mischievous messes, making their life hell. Fast forward 5 years, You had been recruited by the company for jobs as counselors, and now another 3 years later, the both of you were experiencing massive karma in the form of screaming 7 year olds. You wish you had repented your sins years ago, but alas, now it was too late, you were bound to the camp by a contract.

Nonetheless, you and Hobi made the best out of the situation, snacking and singing your hearts out the whole way there. If someone was a first time camper or counselor, it would be almost impossible for them to locate the destination in one go, unless they had navigation skills and luck like Jeon Jungkook, who amazed everyone his first year by stating that finding the place was a ‘piece of cake’. It is safe to say that he now leads the wilderness hiking workshop, and does a good job at it.

But in reality it’s so hard to actually find the main base, that Seokjin makes Jimin stand outside, a whole kilometer away from the camp, by the main road, and flag people down the right direction. So it was no surprise that when Hobi pulled into the narrow turn to drive up the hill, Jimin was standing there dressed in a white cotton shirt that was so damp from the humidity that it stuck to his skin transparently almost like wet tissue paper. He was holding two large, neon green pom poms and waving them about animatedly like a cheerleader that missed one too many practices for her to know the routine properly. You rolled your window down to greet him,

“Hey Chim, still stuck out here? How long has it been this time?”

He obviously looked worn out, must have been a few hours at the least.

“Well it’s been around 4 hours now, but I went back up two hours ago to get some rest.” The poor boy was obviously overworking himself.

“I still don’t understand why you do it, you know that you can tell Jin that you’re too tired right?” Hobi chimed in from the driver’s seat next to you. Jimin sighed loudly,

“I know that, but the camp is paying me an extra $50 for this. Even if Jin hyung talks to management, I’ll lose the extra money. And I really want the extra money.” Jimin had been saving up for a car for the last few years, and to him, every single penny counted.

“Anyway, are we the last ones here? Or who are we waiting on?” You would be genuinely surprised if you were the last to get there, the day was still young, and realistically no one was that punctual.

Jimins face suddenly lit up. Oh now you get it,

“Oh no no, We’re still missing Rhea, you know how she is with timing,”

You only responded with an ‘Ah of course’.

“Jimin-ah, Rhea has been counseling just as long as you have, I’m sure she can find her way up, why don’t you come up with us?” Hobi knew exactly what he was asking,

“No no it’s okay, I’ll just wait for her you know, make sure she doesn’t get lost or anything.” He refused fervently, ushering both of you towards the road uphill, and the smirk on your face just grew even wider.

The thing was, Last summer Jimin had accidentally gotten himself a deep scratch when he fell ten feet down from his hammock, that was tied between two trees, and was barrelled into the first aid hut which Rhea was in charge of. She tended to his wound for almost the whole summer, and spent hours and hours checking almost day and night for any sort of infection or swelling. And the whole time Rhea was concentrating on his arm, Jimin was concentrating on her. You couldn’t blame him though, the girl was absolutely gorgeous, Beautiful tan skin, dark brooding eyes, long brunette hair, matched with the sweetest smile. She also had such a kind heart, and in no time, Jimin was head over heels for her.

When last summer was nearing an end, and you were helping a certain boy pack up his cabin, you had come across a tiny pink letter, which expressed many feelings towards a certain girl, but as it seemed the girl had left a few days before him, the letter never seemed to reach its desired destination, and jimin didn’t seem to be in his desired one’s arms. But I’m sure this year you will somehow end up helping those two get together. It was inevitable, those two were just too cute.

Hobi turned to you, the car now moving uphill,

“Are you gonna tell him this year?”

“Tell who?”

“Don’t act dumb, you know who,”

“If you mean, am I going to tell Taehyung about the cold reality of my unreciprocated feelings of adoration for him that, once more I repeat, have absolutely NO chance of ever being returned? Then no, I’m not going to tell him this year.”

And that was it. Case closed.

Hoseok parked the car behind the camper van, and got out grumbling under his breath,

“Shouldn’t even bother asking from now on … man… a dude asks one harmless question and gets shouted at in return, should just keep my mouth shut.”

Suddenly you see a small green creature running over towards you as you get out of the car. Imagine your surprise when you realise that it’s actually yoongi, and he has mint green hair.

(a/n: picture yoongi from that one run ep where they ride rv’s)

It takes you a few seconds to register that Min Yoongi has Mint Green Hair.

He was donned in a green and white striped long sleeve shirt, simple black sweatpants which looked way too woolly for summer camp, and lace up converse with green stars on them. God, his hair was green, his shirt was green, his shoes were green. He looked like a whole ass christmas tree with only green ornaments.

“Yoongi, What in the world happened to your ha-”

“Don’t fucking ask.” He interrupts you with a quick sentence.

Yoongi was in charge of check in day, which meant that every year he had to run around with a clipboard in his hands and scream at everyone who seemed to be doing something they shouldn’t be doing. This was very out of character for the usually laid back guy with an unbreakable demeanor, but what could you do, the first day usually brought out the worst in people.

But this one was extra grumpy around that time, as he, not only, had to get up early, but also had to deal with the chaos that was meeting new campers and their parents. He wasn’t anti-social, just didn’t like most people, and nor was he a cold guy, he had a certain edge to him, for sure, but he wasn’t cold. Underneath all that attitude, he was just a simple boy with a kind heart.

“The campers are all here, why are you two always so late?” He tapped his pen on the plastic clipboard and stood there questioningly with a hand on his hip. Always so dramatic.

“Hey, why are you only reprimanding me? Go yell at Hobi, and besides Rhea isn’t here yet either, you can yell at her when she arrives.”

He pinched the bridge of his nose, he was already coming down with a migraine and he still had two more months left of this shit to deal with.

“You know that if I even look at that girl in an accusing way Jimin is going to eat me alive.”

You wiggled your eyebrows suggestively,

“You’d like that wouldn’t you?”

“Can you please go be stupid somewhere away from me?” He gagged dramatically, His frustration elicited a laugh out of you,

“No that’s too boring,”

He sighed loudly once more,

“You’re not my favourite person today Y/N,”

“I’m not your favourite person any day Yoongi,”

He was starting to get fidgety now, you could tell by the way he was bouncing his hands against his legs,

“Anyway, you go get comfortable, we have a meeting in thirty minutes, and then we’ll start with the first assembly.”

Now comfort was something you could use.

It was a well known fact that the amount of girls that attended your camp was far less than the amount of boys, but that meant that you also had to share your cabins with a considerably less amount of people. It was far less cramped, far less loud, and far far more hygienic. Sure, the water still turned a worryingly murky shade of green sometimes, but you guys could deal with it. Less people also meant that your cabin was a lot more tight knit as friends, and the little girls that you mentored looked up to you as though you were their older sister. While the boys were loud and rowdy, your girls were quieter, calmer and just overall easier to deal with. You guys could have slumber parties almost every night, with music and movies, and even the most tomboyish of tomboy girls would join in while munching on their tortilla chips. If you were a female, you were going to enjoy your experience at this summer camp for sure.

You made sure to start teaching the girls young, preaching empowerment to them, and making sure they knew that they could do everything a boy could do and more. The boys that your camp catered to were very, very active and sometimes, for some of the younger girls, that energy seemed a little intimidating or aggressive. You managed to make sure that the boys were careful around the younger girls and that the girls were always comfortable in whatever situation they were in. It was important for them to be okay with the things that were going on.

The way that you handled problems with the campers, no doubt is a huge reason as to why you’re so close with them. And every year, the summer with the children always ends with tons of tears and tons of promises to come back the next year. That’s got to create some type of bond right? Yeah for sure.

Otherwise, why on earth would three tiny 9 year olds be waiting to surprise you in your cabin?

Lila, Lola and Leelya, the camp’s infamous triplets. You’ve known them for years. Actually this was because their parents owned your summer camp, and the three girls had started attending it at an age way younger than the rest of the campers. This meant that they had to be treated with extra love and care, and in turn meant that they were really close to you.

Hence, the reason why you were jumping back in shock when three bodies came running towards you out of nowhere.

“Y/N We missed you!” Lila’s sweet soprano was the first greeting that floated towards your ear.

“Yeah Y/N we really did. And we have so much to tell you. You know, Leelya even has a boyfriend now?” It wasn’t even two seconds after those words came out of Lola’s mouth, that she was being tackled to the ground by her sister.

“Lola, you loser! I’m the one who’s in a relationship, I wanted to tell her!” The little girl was pouting, her light brown hair falling out of her pigtails.

The three were dressed in matching shorts and shirts, with the cutest flower designs on them. The sight was just so adorable to see.

“It’s okay Leelya, I had to find out one way or another, but Wow! A boyfriend. Is he nice? What’s his name?”

The little human stopped glaring at her sister and moved to answer your onslaught of questions.

“Well actually, you know him! It’s Danny from the second boy’s cabin. He’s so handsome!”

Your eyebrows rose in surprise,

Oh you knew Danny alright.

That boy was the child version of Taehyung in every way possible, right down to the smallest of habits. And it made perfect sense that he was also Tae’s favourite child here. The boy followed him almost everywhere, and wouldn’t stop complaining if Taehyung was out of his sight for even a second. They even had a secret handshake, that was so obnoxiously long, overused and showed off by them, that the whole camp knew it off by heart. The boy had the same tan skin, shaggy hair, and sharp face cut as Tae, and if you didn’t know any better, you would think they were siblings. Ninety percent of newcomers thought that anyway, the two were attached by the hip.

So when you knew all of these facts, why didn’t it occur to you that you would be seeing Taehyung earlier than expected when Leelya was in the process of dragging you over to the boys cabin to ‘re-introduce’ you to her new boyfriend?

Why was it only now, while you’re standing in front of him, that you were panicking over what to say to the guy that you’ve been in love with for the last three years?

“Oh… uh, Tae, what are you doing here?” You choked out like an idiot. What was he doing here? This was his cabin!

“Idiot, This is my cabin, I practically live here? Are you feeling okay today Y/N?”

You heard him for sure, but you weren’t in the correct condition to answer. You were too busy gazing romantically into his eyes, while that one romantic korean song that goes ‘sha la lalla lalla laa’ played in the background. Even after years of knowing him, Kim Taehyung still managed to make your heart want to jump off a bridge into a river of liquid chocolate. He looked so delicious with how his dark hair fell softly over his eyebrows, and his gaze layed heavily on your eyes. With the way things were going, it seemed as though, for the rest of your life, you would have to deal with indescribable feelings of affection for this man.

But there was one iffy little problem.

You were kind of Pabo zoned.

In other words, Idiot zoned. No, before anyone asks, It’s not the same thing as being friend zoned. Being Pabo zoned was definitely a hundred times worse.

When you’re in the Pabo zone, that basically means that the person you love, constantly thinks that you’re an incapable idiot. It’s that simple, and that harsh.

You were sure that Taehyung thought you were incapable of doing anything by yourself, and also thought of you as an immature child, who needed babysitting 24/7. Obviously, it didn’t help that you were head over heels for the guy. It only broke your heart even further, because you knew that he could never take anything you said seriously. To him, you were just one big joke.

Yoongi’s flat, monotone voice broke the very obvious tension in the room,

“Tae, Y/N, The meeting room now!” Ah it was time for the madness to begin.

Taehyung looked at you and gestured forward, as if to say ‘shall we?’

You looked back to see the two young children occupied with themselves, and the both of you started making your way to your doom.

Taehyung knew things were awkward between you two, he just didn’t know the reason why. The both of you had always been close but it seemed like every second you two were together, the weird vibe just grew bigger and bigger. Of Course he noticed that you were uncomfortable around him sometimes, and there had been moments where he questioned whether it was because he could be slightly overbearing now and then, but even now, he still doesn’t have a solid answer to what on earth was bothering you.

Over the course of the year he had text you a few times, only to be left on delivered. Were you mad at him? Or did you just not like his company anymore? He really wanted to find out whether you just didn’t want to be around him anymore or if it was something else that was bothering you entirely.

As you two stepped foot into the meeting room, which was actually more like a makeshift meeting tent, your eyes fell upon the chaos that took place every year.

You heard Jin let out a sigh of relief, “Finally, they’re here. Hey, idiot’s, why did it take you ten minutes to get here?”

“Nice to see you in Seokjin. Lovely weather we’re having today, aren’t we?” you ignored the older boy’s question entirely.

It seemed like his shoulders just kept on growing broader and broader as the years went by. It did nothing to increase his intelligence, but he sure looked handsome. His dark hair was slicked back, and sweat could be visibly seen on his forehead. He looked like he had been working out, the sleeves of his black T-shirt looked more filled out than they did last year. If he wasn’t like your annoying older brother, maybe there was a chance he could be your type. But that was also a very very miniscule chance.

“Isn’t it obvious? They were taking their sweet time walking up here to make me panic even more today!” Yoongi’s voice was shrill which was very rare for him.

“Oh for heaven’s sake, Yoongi! Not everyone has it out for you, try to calm down, please,”

“Easy for you to say Jin hyung, all you do on check-in day is terrorise the children.”

“How dare you! I do not terrorise anybody!”

“Yes you do!”

“No I do not-”

“Oh for the love of god, Hyungs, please, both of you shut up yeah? We can deal with all of your problems later right now we need to have this stupid briefing.” Namjoon’s voice was clear as it rang out around the room, determined. Mirroring his posture and general attitude towards things in life.

Namjoon was basically your leader, and heck, he was a damn good one too. He knew exactly what to do and how to do it. How to say things and when to say them. And basically just how to keep all of these kids and the counselors alive and not in the alligator infested lake. What would the fate of the camp be without him? That’s not something you ever want to find out.

“Okay let’s start then shall we? We can have questions at the end. Though I doubt anyone will have a question other than Jungkook’s usual ‘Do we have Mint chocolate ice cream this year?’, To which the answer is still a firm No We Do Not.”

Jungkook gave him a face which clearly resembled the phrase ‘Disappointed But Not Surprised’

“Firstly, we have only one new counselor this year, Please introduce yourself,”

“Uhm, Well, Hello. I’m Jake, I think I’m leading the pottery workshop this year, right Namjoon?”

The boy looks over to Joon,

“Yeah, Jake will be hosting pottery classes in three levels for the children to follow. I’m allotting him the 10:30 to 11:30 slot that was free last year, so everyone else can just carry on as they were. A few follow up notes, Jimin After every rafting session make sure to take a register again, we don’t want a repeat of last year. Please someone make sure he does it.”

“It’s not going to be a problem, Rhea’s coming with me anyway,” He was reeking with confidence,

“Uh, Excuse me, Why would I be leading these classes, when I have my own?” Her voice was soft, almost musical as she questioned him. She sounded uncannily similar to Luna Lovegood with her light Irish accent, adding even further to her whimsical charm.

“Come on,” Jimin whined loudly, “Your classes are all at different times than when we have to go rafting, Please Baby,”

And then it was like a huge bomb released in the room,

“Baby?!”

“When on earth did that happen?”

“Are you two really dating?”

“I knew you were hiding something! Oh god, I’m just a genius!”

You just sat there, smirking to yourself quietly as you watched the chaos unfold around you, Jimin sat there horrified, He was absolutely speechless as to what had just come out of his mouth.

Then Rhea’s sweet silvery voice broke the madness,

“Actually, I wasn’t informed about this development. Jimin-ssi, I think we might have to step outside for a quick word,”

“Rhea, I-Uh, I’m sor-”

He was cut off by a sharp hand over his mouth. The whole room watched him being dragged out by Rhea’s petite frame.

“Anyway, Moving on. Any other questions?” Joon’s voice broke the shocked silence.

Jungkook’s hand immediately shot up.

“Yes Kook, go on,”

“Is the Cafeteria serving Mint Choc-”

“No they are not, and they will not be serving it. Ever.” Jungkook’s disappointed sigh, once more rang out loudly,”If that’s all, everybody can leave.” Namjoon dismissed the group expertly like a high school teacher.

You watched as everyone scattered around and scampered off to wherever they needed to be. The chaos of the camp was one of it’s special charms. You can’t find a group of people this chaotic anywhere in the world.

In the distance you could see a certain couple standing under the cherry blossom trees by the lake, wrapped up in each other’s loving embrace. You smirked to yourself again, You didn’t even have to lift a finger for both of them to get together, they’d done it all themselves. Jimin must be over the moon right now. Oh young love, so gracious to some and so, so cruel to others.

You were broken out of your reverie by a smooth unfamiliar voice,

“You’re Y/N right?”

You turned around to face the voice, and found Jake standing there.

“Yes that’s me, you’re Jake right?”

He broke out into a grin as you recalled his name correctly,

“Yeah! Actually, If you don’t mind.. I’m kind of lost and I was wondering if you could like point me in the direction of the cafeteria? I was thinking of getting a bit really quickly,”

“Sure no problem, I was actually thinking of a sandwich myself. Do you mind If I join you?”

“Not at all! My pleasure actually!”

This boy was so cute, like a tiny little puppy. He was adorable, with big wide eyes and an innocent look on his face. You just wanted to squish him!

Taehyung wanted to squish him alright. He wanted to squish him so hard there would be a permanent handprint on his face. In Tae’s opinion the new boy was getting a little too close with you, and it made him uncomfortable to no end. The boy’s smile was a little too wide, and a little too bright, and the way he bounced about eagerly around you like a stray dog, just straight up annoyed him. And how on earth was it possible that you were talking more to the new boy than to Taehyung who had been your close friend for a very long time now. What did Blake have, or Drake or Jake, or whatever the hell his name was, that Kim Taehyung didn’t?

“Why do you look like you accidentally swallowed a frog?” Jungkook asked as he hopped up onto the top of the tree, next to where his youngest Hyung was sitting. He looked down, and realised that he could see everything from his spot. He loved watching the scenery.

He turned to his Hyung and saw that Tae was not at all admiring the view, but scowling at something disgustedly instead.

“I don’t look like that,” The older boy’s scowl deepened even further,

“Yeah you do. You look like you accidentally swallowed a bullfrog and now you have to keep your mouth shut because whenever you open it you end up croaking instead.” Jungkook was surely never afraid to speak his mind.

“Kook, who the fuck even are you, dude? Like I trust you to keep me sane and here you are spewing nonsense.”

“Do not trust people like me, I will take you to Museums, Parks, Famous monuments, and kiss you in every beautiful place, so that you can never go back to them without tasting me like blood in your mouth. I will destroy you in the most beautiful way possible, and when I leave, only then will you realise why storms and hurricanes are named after people.”

“Jesus christ, that took a turn,” Taehyung looked over at his Younger friend confused.

“Anyways hyung, what’s the problem?” Cue, Dr. Jungkook, special relationship counseling therapist for your summer camp. He might as well have his glasses, a pen, and notepad there anyway.

“Well, for one I hate the new guy. He’s too greasy-”

“Who’s greasy?” Jimins light voice came from out of nowhere as he, too, popped himself on to the top of the tree next to his friends.

“The new guy,” Replied Kook

“Oh Jake?”

“Yeah him,”

“Why is he greasy?”

“I don’t know, Taehyungie Hyung thinks he’s greasy because new guy has a crush on Y/N”

“Hey! I never said that!”

“You’re not denying it though. Besides It’s natural for you to feel challenged since Y/N’s liked you for the longest time,”

“She’s what?!”

And that’s when Jungkook realised that he let something very very sensitive slip out of his mouth.

“N-no NOthing!” Jimin exclaimed, now he was panicking too.

“She has a crush on me!?” Taehyung was shocked, to say the least. Here he had been wondering what on earth he had done to upset you, but in reality, you’d been avoiding him because of your crush this whole time.

“Well, uh yes, but I assure you! The crush is tiny! Nothing to worry about.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah, yeah don’t worry though, your friendship can survive this little crush. You just need to let her down easy, that’s all!” Jimin was trying his best to reassure the guy, and Jungkook just sat there, terrified about what you would do to him if you ever found out that he had let your secret slip.

“How do I do that?”

“Just tell her how you feel! Be honest.”

“That won’t work.”

“Why not?” Both Tae’s friends were curious now.

“Because If I tell her how I feel she might think I want to get into a relationship,”

“Why would she think that, hyung?” Jungkook spoke this time.

“Because I’m… I’m in love with her,”

“What?!”

“Just a little bit though!”

“Well then would you please mind telling me what on earth the problem is? Because I don’t see one!” Jimin was beyond confused.

“I’m in LOVE with her. Like you said, her’s is just a tiny crush.”

The two other boys jumped up in unison, “No No! DOn’t tAke our word for it! Go talk to her instead,”

Jungkook spoke up again, “You know you’re in love with her right?”

Taehyung just looked at him incredulously, “Ofcourse, I know I’m in love with her. That’s literally what we’ve been talking about for the last ten minutes.” He sighed deeply, “I know I’m in love with her, I just don’t know how long I’ve been in love with her. It feels like forever ago, and yesterday all at the same time.”

“Well Taehyungie hyung, You’ve been in love with her forever. And that’s why I’m breaking up with you.”

You could hear the sound of Jimin’s palm smacking against his own forehead, resonate in the area.

“You idiot. You can’t break up with me If we were never together. Seriously I wonder where the brain is inside that head of yours. You’re so smart sometimes and then other times it’s just, well, bleh.”

He didn’t know what to do now. He was so pent up about why you were mad at him because he was in love with you. He had been for the longest time. Every little thing you did affected him in a way that was so surreal, because honestly he had never felt like this before. You make him feel a million different emotions in a second and he gets so overwhelmed about them because he thinks that you could never help him that way. You just never felt the same.

Or so he thought.

Taehyung was just about to say something else, when they heard a huge crack.

“All three of us should NOT be sitting on the same branch!”

Oh this was not going to end well.

Less than fifteen minutes later, three individuals were getting wrapped up in bandages at the first aid hut. Leave it to those three to injure themselves in the dumbest way possible. Falling out of a goddamn tree, who even does that anymore?!

“How do you feel Jiminie?” Rhea was once again in charge of nursing the idiots back to health.

“Well I think I broke all eight of my fingers and my two thumbs,” He was in pain, but also exaggerating. A lot.

“Better your fingers, than your face. That would be a shame.”

You would be an idiot to not be able to notice the new development between the two lovebirds. It was obvious that the conversation that they had, ended well. They looked mushier than ever, and wow, it made you jealous.

You sat there in the corner of the hut, near Taehyung, and you were blazing with anger. What type of idiot’s risk their lives to climb up onto a tree, sit on the flimsiest branch and then proceed to jump until they fall out of it. Not only endangering their own lives, but also the lives of other children. What if some of the campers saw what they were doing and decided to try it out for themselves? Who would take responsibility for that tragedy?

Yoongi and Jin were also sitting next to you, both of them bored out of their minds, but someone had to help those three back to their respective cabins.

It was only the first day, and a million things had already happened.

“Y/N can you stop that please,” Taehyung’s meek voice came out from in front of you,

“Stop what.” He flinched a little at the sharp sound of your voice.

“Doing that thing with your face when you’re angry. It’s making me nauseous.”

Oh he was going to hear it from you now.

“Well did you stop yourself from falling out of a fucking tree? No? Well You’re lucky all i’m doing is glaring at you, because believe me I want to punch you right in your pretty little face right now. God you should be so thankful that I Love you, because otherwise-”

Oh shit.

The whole room was suddenly quiet.

“I love you too.”

His voice was small,

“I love you too, Y/N.” He repeated. This time more determined.

Slowly, one by one, the rest of your friends leave the hut. But you don’t notice it. You’re too busy, in your own little world with Taehyung.

“You love me too? But how, you think I’m an incapable idiot, you’ve said so yourself many times. To my face, even.”

He reached his hand out to hold yours.

“I’m not exactly the expert when it comes to how I’m supposed to act around you. The whole year, I was wondering why you were avoiding me. I thought you were mad at me,”

“I could never be mad at you! Actually I take that back, I’m very mad at you for falling out of a tree, but I wasn’t avoiding you before that!”

He chuckled slightly,

“Well you could say that in a way, I fell… for you.”

“Oh shut up, Now, I don’t like you anymore.’’

And that was how a million chaotic things happened on the first day of summer camp.

With many more days to come, maybe you would leave camp with a boyfriend at the end of summer. Who knows?
