Chapter Text
Miko stares, eyes wide in disbelief at the scene before her.
She had just been innocently talking to some guy about a mundane thing, and sure, he might have been standing a bit too close and was being too generous with his compliments, but it wasn't like it was anything out of the ordinary. Then, the next thing Miko knew, blood was splattering everywhere, getting on her face and clothes.
Horror washes over her as she watches the body slump to the ground lifelessly, while Suisei stands over him with a calm expression. Her eyes are cold, and Miko can tell that she is absolutely livid, hands clenched tightly around her axe. The hint of a smile on Suisei's face is unable to hide how furious the other girl feels as she roughly kicks the body to the side, away from Miko as if it was a mere nuisance.
She can't stop her hands from shaking, taking an instinctive step back when Suisei glances at her. She thinks that it's the first time she had ever felt afraid of the other girl. Despite knowing Suisei's reputation, it isn't like the other girl had ever killed anyone in front of her before. Seeing it with her own eyes is completely different from just hearing stories about it.
Suisei doesn't look the least bit guilty, glancing down at the body with mild disgust as if she had just faced an annoying inconvenience. She hardly looks bothered, stepping over the dead body and moving forward to pull Miko against her in a hug. Miko can feel herself trembling as the scent of blood fills the air.
Miko's heart hammers in her chest in fear and shock, as she stands there motionlessly. Her throat feels tight, and she couldn't make any sounds. She can feel the tears forming on the corner of her eyes, and she bites her lip to stop herself from crying. The smell of blood makes her nauseous, and it feels sticky against her skin.
“It's okay now, Miko-chi. He won't bother you again,” the other girl says stiffly, holding her close.
A small whimper escapes her lips as a stray tear falls down her cheek. She doesn't know how long they stand there, as Suisei holds her tightly and as she tries to regain control of her breathing.
Her mind feels clouded and her ears are ringing, the sick feeling in her gut making her feel queasy. She needs space, she's too afraid to be close to Suisei at the moment as the urge to flee overwhelms her. She takes a shaky step back, pulling away from the other girl, her legs quivering as she moves away to wrap her mind around what had just transpired.
She immediately sees the look of panic in Suisei's face as she puts some distance between them, hurt flashing across her features. The other girl takes a step forward, reaching out to her desperately, looking like she's worried that Miko might leave, like Miko would look at her differently from now on. Her heart clenches, unable to bear seeing that pained look on Suisei's face.
The problem is that a part of Miko kind of already knows what to expect when it comes to Suisei, since they've been friends for a long time before they even started dating. It also doesn't help that her decision making skills are really questionable too. However, she feels herself slowly become distracted from the whole murder thing, unable to stop herself from thinking that it's unfair how Suisei still looks absolutely gorgeous even while covered in blood. The other girl still looks insanely pretty in Miko's eyes even after she had just committed a violent murder towards an innocent man. She starts to doubt her own sanity too.
She takes a deep breath to get some semblance of sense back into her mind, and the next thing Miko does is take out her phone to call Rushia.
Suisei looks at her helplessly, and Miko is unable to resist any longer despite the fear in her chest. Her hands continue to shake as she steps closer to Suisei once more, back into the other girl's arms. Her body sags against Suisei for support, unable to keep standing on her own any longer as her legs waver. She leans her forehead against the other girl's shoulder as Suisei holds her tightly in relief, wrapping her arms around Miko to keep her upright. She talks to Rushia on the phone, stumbling over her words as her voice quivers, and asks the necromancer for a favor. She gives Rushia a quick overview of the situation, which the other girl calmly accepts as if hearing something like this was a common everyday occurrence. Knowing the other Hololive members, she has a feeling that she's not the only one who has ever called in Rushia for a favor like this.
She can feel Suisei nuzzling against her cheek, and she notices that the edges of the other girl's skirt is stained with blood. Miko thinks that no one in their right mind should be hugging someone who had literally committed a violent murder just a few minutes prior. However, with Suisei pressing close to her like this, she knows that her heart is too weak against the other girl.
Her arms reach around Suisei to return the hug, clutching at her tightly as she chokes back a sob. The other girl whispers comforting words to her ear, pressing sweet kisses to the side of her face to calm her down. Suisei's lips brush gently against her cheek as the other girl holds her close, like she's trying to make sure that Miko doesn't escape after what just happened, and Miko realizes that she has no intention of doing so.
Rushia arrives and helps take care of everything, her and Suisei moving together with ease as if they've done this together a hundred times already. It makes alarm bells ring in Miko's mind, suspicious of the way the two girls expertly move around. Miko heaves a sigh of relief once everything is finally settled, and Suisei promises to buy Rushia a cake as thanks, which the other girl waves off.
“I was already around the area anyway,” Rushia explains, giggling awkwardly, “I had to revive one of my listeners after I lost my temper when I found out that he was watching someone else's stream while I was still live.”
Suisei nods as if it's a perfectly reasonable explanation, and Miko feels like she's going crazy at how the two girls are talking like all the murdering and killing are acceptable.
They're talking like this is all normal, and she wonders if she's the weird one here. She knows that she's part of the problem too, because she's sure that if she heard this conversation a few hours ago, she wouldn't have even batted an eye. However, seeing it happen right in front of her had hit differently.
Suisei insists on going home with her, and if Miko is being honest, she's not sure how to feel about it. A part of her is relieved, because she doesn't want to be away from the other girl, however there's a part of her that's still afraid.
Suisei intertwines their fingers as they silently walk home together, casually humming as if everything is perfectly normal. It almost makes Miko question if she had just imagined the whole thing, except for the fact that she can still see the blood on Suisei's clothes.
Once they reach her apartment, Suisei cups her cheek, and Miko is unable to look her in the eyes. Suisei tilts her head to force her to look at the other girl, and Miko bites back a whimper at the sight of blood smeared across Suisei's cheeks.
Suisei leans forward and brushes her lips lovingly against Miko's, and she hates the way her heart flutters at the gesture. Suisei strokes her cheek tenderly, and Miko starts to worry that she's beginning to not even care about what happened earlier as the other girl continues to press sweet kisses to her lips, successfully distracting her.
Suisei strokes the nape of her neck gently, and Miko starts to calm down as the adrenaline slowly wears off.
Her limbs still feel like jelly, so she tells Suisei to wash up first as she wipes off a smudge of blood from the other girl's jaw with her thumb. She swallows the lump in her throat at the sight of bloodstains covering the Suisei's clothes. She's sure that bloodstains are scattered all over her own body too, and she actively avoids looking down. She's not sure if she can handle seeing any more blood.
Once Suisei is out of earshot, Miko gives Flare a call. She explains what happened, and she doesn't know what to feel when Flare simply responds that it's how Suisei, Rushia, and some other Hololive members are. She says it plainly, like Miko shouldn't be surprised by what happened, like Miko is the odd one for expecting them not to kill.
“Why do you seem so surprised?” Flare asks curiously, “You already know how many people she's killed before. Really, I'm more surprised that no one has ever called the police on any of our members.”
“Yeah, but I've never actually seen Sui-chan do it,” she weakly explains, “and she's never killed anyone because of me.”
“What? This isn't even the first time that she's killed someone for you,” Flare chuckles, “But I guess actually seeing it happen in front of you was a huge shock.”
Miko pauses at the information, “What do you mean?”
“You didn't know?” the other girl asks in surprise, as if what she had just revealed was common knowledge, “You know how Sui-chan is. She's already killed lots of people whenever anyone had tried to flirt with you, way before you even started dating.”
Miko remains silent as she lets the information sink in, and she continues to stare blankly at the wall after they end the call.
Suisei tugs her by the hand and drags her to the washroom to help Miko clean up, and she's relieved to see that there are no more traces of blood left on the other girl. Miko's mind wanders as Suisei draws a bath for her to help her relax.
Somehow, her talk with Flare had reminded her that this is how Suisei has always been, but still, seeing it with her own eyes is a very different experience. She kind of knew what to expect when she got into a relationship with Suisei anyway, her violent tendencies weren't exactly a secret. She already knows how scarily violent she can be, way back when they were still just friends. However, she never thought that Suisei would start murdering people because of her.
She lies in bed that night with Suisei sleeping beside her, an arm draped securely over Miko's waist. Her cheek is pressed onto the Suisei's shoulder, their legs tangled together. She breathes in Suisei's scent, warm and comforting, and she starts to forget about the incident as she drifts off to sleep while snuggling with Suisei.
The next time it happens, Miko isn't nearly as surprised, however her hands still tremble, and she still feels like she wants to vomit as the scent of blood wafts through the air. Bloodstains cover Suisei's sleeves as she stands over the decapitated body, and Miko holds her breath to stop the tears from falling.
She instinctively flinches when Suisei approaches her, legs weakening as she stumbles backwards onto the floor in fear. Suisei sits on her lap, straddling her thighs to keep her in place as the other girl wraps her arms around her. She forces herself to stay still, unable to stop the tremors wracking her body. She can't help but shake in fear, although she knows that Suisei would never hurt her, despite what she just did to the man she was talking to earlier.
“Miko-chi belongs to me and me alone,” Suisei mumbles into her ear, as if trying to explain her actions.
Miko swallows the lump in her throat, trying to stop herself from shaking so much.
“Did I scare you?” Suisei asks, holding her tightly, as if to stop her from running away.
She tries to find her voice as Suisei continues to nuzzle against her neck in silent apology, not for the murder, but for scaring her.
“Yes,” she croaks out, voice rough as she forces the words to come out. Suisei hums, stroking her hair to help her calm down.
“I'm sorry,” Suisei softly says, as she presses a gentle kiss on the corner of Miko's lips, “I'll try not to be so messy next time.”
She closes her eyes at the words. Next time.
Miko worries that she's beginning to accept that this was just going to be part of her relationship with Suisei, with her girlfriend murdering anyone who would dare touch her or come too close to her. She thinks that maybe being around Hololive members for too long had also made her be more adaptable, since it isn't like Suisei is the only one going around killing people. She's pretty sure that Rushia also killed someone just last month and stuffed the body in her freezer. Other than killing, some Hololive members are pretty violent too, like how Korone takes her listeners fingers. She's lucky enough that Suisei doesn't have any interest in keeping the severed body parts of her victims.
Still, seeing a murder happen right in front of her isn't something she thinks she can get used to.
Miko thinks that there must really be something wrong with herself too, because when Suisei takes her home to calm her down after Rushia finishes reviving the man, Miko's attention immediately drifts away from the whole ordeal. She cuddles with Suisei on the couch after they had cleaned up, and Suisei distracts her once again by dragging her onto the other girl's lap to press sweet kisses on her lips, murmuring sweet comforting words to her as she brushes their lips together lovingly.
Suisei kisses her until she starts to forget, the events from earlier that day becoming a distant memory as the other girl kisses her until the only thing that she can think of is Suisei.
Once her mind has sufficiently been cleansed from the whole incident, Suisei leaves one last gentle kiss on her cheek and allows Miko to get off her lap to sag onto the couch. She snuggles up to Suisei while watching some movies and eating dinner, and she starts to forget the whole thing, rationalizing that it wasn't like there was really any harm done. The man is alive and well, and he'd wake up thinking it was all just a dream thanks to Rushia's help.
Miko had also decided to just stuff some money in his pocket as an apology too, so it wasn't like there were any real consequences.
She thinks that she is a terrible enabler as she leans her head on Suisei's shoulder and holds the other girl's hand, the same hand that has repeatedly killed people, and here she is cuddling with her, barely able to bring herself to care.
The third time it happens, Miko is proud of herself for not even flinching. Suisei had stayed true to her word and had killed the person in a much less violent manner. Blood is still pooling across the floor, but at least it hadn't sprayed all over their clothes this time. It's much less messy this time, easier to clean up, which Miko is thankful for. She frowns at the thought, reminding herself that Suisei shouldn't even be killing people in the first place.
Suisei pulls her into a hug once more, like she always does after a murder, as if she's trying to make sure that Miko wouldn't freak out too much or run away in fear.
This time, the smell of blood still makes her dizzy, but she is able to find her voice immediately.
“Sui-chan, you shouldn't kill people just because you're jealous,” she weakly says, scolding the other girl so that she wouldn't think Miko was fine with all the murders.
“I can't help it. I love you too much,” Suisei confesses, hugging her tighter, and Miko hates herself for the warmth that floods her chest at the words. She reminds herself that she shouldn't be encouraging this behavior, for the safety of everyone around them.
“I love you too,” she says softly, burying her face into the other girl's shoulder, breathing in Suisei's scent instead of the metallic smell of blood in the air, “but that's not the point.”
“I'll try,” Suisei hums as she holds Miko close, and she knows that it's the most Suisei can promise.
Suisei nuzzles against her neck affectionately, and Miko bites back a smile at how adorable the other girl is. She is deceptively cute, looking like someone who wouldn't be capable of murder even if she was caught red handed.
Miko sighs in resignation and hugs Suisei back just as tightly, thinking about how much money she should transfer to this guy as compensation for the inconvenience once he is brought back to life.
As time goes by, she's a bit worried about how casual she starts to feel whenever Suisei kills someone out of jealousy. At some point, she had sort of gotten used to it and just simply scolds the other girl half-heartedly while Suisei hugs her possessively. She would then proceed to give Calli or Rushia a call, maybe even Kanata, Towa, Irys, or other powerful beings in Hololive. She didn't realize how many of them could be involved in life and death matters, but it sure is convenient to have so many people she could approach for help since her girlfriend is a psychopath. It definitely helps that Suisei isn't the only one in Hololive, so things like this were much easier to explain.
She should feel guilty, but maybe having powerful Hololive members who can navigate life and death made her desensitized. Maybe being in a relationship with Suisei has also conditioned her to expect these things.
In the end, she always throws Suisei a stern look as she wipes away the splatters of blood on her cheek. The other girl would give her a sweet kiss on the lips, reminding her that she belongs to Suisei only. Miko would just roll her eyes and intertwine their fingers as they wait for Calli to appear so that they could negotiate with her. Again.
