Work Text:

As he stepped into the light
She stepped into the dark
Two worlds that were set to be apart

But time passes quickly for people like them
Eclipses seem daily with the lives they lived
And whenever they came they would talk like time had stopped

And whenever they did he would look at her
Her dark brown hair
And her coffee like eyes
They held a contrasting warmth

She looked at him
With his golden blonde hair
And in his deep blue eyes
That held an ironically cold stare

He told her as they spent the time watching the people cross
That she should have been the sun
With her smile that brought light unto each mortal human
Her sunkissed skin and honey brown eyes
She looked the more like the light that lit up each dawn

He told her of he should have been the moon
With how shut-off he was and his eyes so blue
Skin as pale as the planet itself
He wished they could have switched instead

When he finished it had come time for them to leave
Although her head was filled to the brim with speech
She left it there till the next time they would meet

And when they did after the days and moons
she told him how he was untrue
How while he was right that she seemed sunkissed
And he was also right that he could be like the cold moon

But she told him how he was wrong in how he should have been the moon
with the laugh and smile that brightened every room
The same blue in his eyes was the same as the skies
and how he showed his kindness upon the people and their lives

she told him how him being himself was alright
The sun was never meant to be looked directly in the eye
and the prowess he showed at the coming of each dawn
only matched the kindness he showed to every land he glanced upon

And she told him he was wrong in how she should have been the sun
Her skin filled with imperfections like the craters his light reflected on
The light she gave was a comforting one that let people gaze upon
And even then it was something borrowed from

She told him of how the moon was not just cold
that it may be pale but that is what made it shine bold
the people when they needed her would gaze upon her in the night
and find peace and solace in the calm and quiet

As the time approached for the two to part
The sun reflected on how she was always right
And the moon admired how he was always bright
He gave her a wide smile as she gave him a small one and went back to her night
