the sky tonight illuminates me

Summary:

“My saint,” Luke whispers, his calloused hand easily holding the pale and unblemished hand of his lover, bringing it to his lips. Artem responds with a sleepy hum, leaning down a little until his lips meet with Luke’s forehead.

“My savior, it’s late.” Artem says quietly when Luke nuzzles his face onto the older man’s neck. But despite his words, Artem makes no move to get Luke off of him. Instead, the attorney tilts his head the other way, letting the younger man bury his head deeper. Luke always likes the smell of Artem, with or without cologne.

Today too, the saint and his savior are deeply in love with each other.

Work Text:

It was getting late, Luke Pearce had decided, when he stole a look at the watch on his wrist. But the thought was soon discarded when Marius nudged him to show a recent discourse in his tweet replies. Luke laughs alongside Rosa as they finish reading. Marius only grins at them both, sipping his drink once more.

“Oh, right, Luke, are you still together with your boyfriend?” The sudden question catches him off guard, and Luke instantly sobered up at the mention of his lover. “Yeah, why?” The young man takes out his own phone, sending a short message to the older man, telling him he would be home in a minute. He looks back up to meet Marius’ purple eyes.

“Isn’t he kind of… strict? I mean, you’re already twenty four and he still constantly worries about you going out at night.” This time, Rosa is the one who speaks, although the look on Marius’ eyes tells Luke that the other man is agreeing with her. The young man sighs internally. For all of their years growing up together, Rosa had never understood him the way Artem would, despite his lover only coming into his life less than a decade ago.

“Well, it’s not like I mind.” He shrugs, hoping his answer would calm his two friends down. He reaches for his phone and keys, standing from his seat. “Anyway, I have to go back now! See you both next week, okay?” Luke grins, praying that his irritation wouldn’t be visible on his face. His childhood friend looked like she was about to say something, but thankfully it seemed that she chose not to say whatever it was on her mind.

“Be careful on your way back, Luke.” She says, quiet in contrast to the loud music booming from the speakers.

“I will.” Luke nods, fixing his jacket.

“And if you ever have trouble with your boyfriend, we will help you, you know that, right?” Luke walks away without another word.

The ride home is infuriating, to say the least. Luke lets the cold air of the night caress his face, hoping it would freshen his mind. Clearly, they don’t understand the man underneath that mask of a perfect attorney, Artem Wing. The young man grips the handles of his motorcycle tighter. He raced through the empty street without much care then, wanting to go home to the man as fast as possible.

Ah, now that he thinks about it, it’s been a while since they got to spend their time together. A small smile is now evident on his face, imagining how gorgeous his lover would look like in the white clothes he had bought for Artem last week.

It’s not long until Luke comes to a stop in front of their shared apartment, parking his motorcycle in the parking lot before hurrying to the floor where he lives. The light brown-haired man taps his foot in impatience, each passing second in the elevator feels slower than the previous one. He glances at his watch, exhaling in relief as the elevator doors open, and the man wastes no time to quickly make his way to his apartment.

“I’m home.” Luke says, trying to be as quiet as possible as he enters the space.

“Welcome home.” His words are replied, and there his lover stands, wearing a white shirt and an equally white thin blanket draped around his shoulders. Artem Wing looks almost surreal to Luke’s tired eyes, and he wonders just what did he do in his past life to meet this beautiful, perfect man.

Artem leans onto the nearest wall for support, his eyes blinking sleepily. Cute , Luke thinks. He walks forward to close the distance between them, and for a moment those blue eyes are on his own, stunning Luke speechless.

Luke licks the pale skin there then, savouring the way Artem’s flinches, the man’s fingers gripping on his jacket. He sinks his teeth after a few seconds, his free hand caressing Artem’s jaw gently. The blanket drops to the floor as Artem curls his arms around Luke’s neck, holding onto the younger man to pull him even closer.

Luke licks his lips after he’s done, satisfied to see the red marks blooming on Artem’s neck. The detective captures his lover’s lips, swallowing the moans Artem lets out. The attorney’s face is now a lovely shade of red, and Luke could not be happier in this moment, with Artem on his arms.

He leans down to grab the fallen blanket, and pulls Artem into another kiss using the soft fabric. The content noises from the older man are straight up heavenly, Luke thinks. He was about to make Artem lean onto the wall, before a hand tugging his hair gently stopped him. Luke puts his arms around Artem’s waist, looking up to Artem lovingly.

“Let’s continue in bed,” Artem whispers shyly, and it took all of Luke’s strength to not kiss this man in front of him again. He drapes the forgotten blanket around Artem’s shoulder, and his arm not leaving the other’s waist.

It doesn’t take much long for them to get on to the bed, and it doesn’t take much longer either until Artem is painting a pretty picture on their bed, moans spilling out of his lips every so often.

“Luke,” Artem would start, after they’re done, with their legs tangled together.

“I’m sorry if I forced you to start coming home early.” At this angle, Artem almost looks embarrassed of his actions. Luke frowns, and holds Artem tighter.

“They don’t understand where you’re coming from, most of the time.” Luke assures, leaving a trail of kisses down Artem’s shoulder.

“So don’t worry about it. My saint is too kind, after all.”

Luke finishes his words with a deep kiss on Artem’s lips, enjoying how Artem kisses him back.

“I can’t help but feel guilty, you know.” The attorney hides his face on Luke’s chest, snuggling closer to the younger man. “They don’t understand you, my savior , and I would hate it if you get into trouble with your friends because of my… selfish needs.” Each word is quieter than the previous, and Luke feels like his heart is going to break into two.

“My saint is never selfish.” He plays with the dark brown locks, ensuring that Artem is comfortable in his hold. “Even if you are, I would still be with you.” Luke quickly adds before Artem could interject.

“You’re my only light, Luke.” A hand sneaks in to hold onto Luke’s shirt, and he lets his lover do what he wants. The young man hums in a non verbal agreement as Artem’s breath hitches. Artem is going to cry any second now, and Luke would be damned if he’s the one who caused it to happen.

So he tilts Artem’s head to face him properly. Ah, how he wants to kiss the unshed tears away from those blue eyes.

“Then pray for me, will you?” The words are quiet, but Luke knows Artem had heard it all the same. A solemn look on Artem’s face, and Luke understands that his point had been made.

“I will,”

Luke kisses his lover’s forehead, pulling up the blanket to cover Artem’s pale body, red marks littered everywhere on his skin.

“Always.”

And the clock ticks, signalling the day is changing.

Today too, the saint and his savior are deeply in love with each other.
