Chapter 1: The Cupid and The Love-struck Girl

Chapter Text

It was one of those days where Jungkook or better known as Justin hunting for a future couple.

His sharp eyes searching for them amongst a crowd of humans that were standing on a big field. His black orbs immediately spot two people, a young boy and a young girl that stood a bit far from those crowded people. He focused his advanced hearings to hear their conversation.

"What do you want to talk about?"

The young girl twirled her long black hair to the side while staring lazily at the boy in front of her. It could be seen clearly that the girl wasn't interested at all in him and seemed to know what he wanted to say. Meanwhile, the young boy nervously glanced at the girl from time to time, biting his lower lip repeatedly to soothe his nerve.

The young girl clicked her tongue in annoyance now standing straighter while crossing both of her arms in front of her chest. "Waste your time any longer and I'll go."

It made the boy's eyes shot up toward her in instant after hearing her statement.

He tried to plea with the girl in front of him through his wavering eyes and the girl could only respond with one of her eyebrows quirked. "Um... Yanyu, I want to say that I-I like yo-you." The boy finally declared what his heart felt for her although he was being a stuttering mess.

The male cupid—Justin—watched interestingly from on top of a tall building. In his hands, there were one arrow and a bow ready to be used at any moment for his purpose.

The young girl still staring uninterested in the male human. She already knew what the next words were going to be said but she still wanted to hear it knowing exactly that she is one of those girls that many boys laid their eyes on. With every confession and question asking her to date one of them made her cocky and boosted her pride so much. That was why she wanted to hear his confession so she could reject him in her usual way, harsh I'd say.

"Will... um... will you be my g-girlfriend Yanyu?"

It made Yanyu, the young girl, burst with a loud mocking laugh. The boy who was just confessed to her could feel his heart broke little by little inside of him when the girl he likes laughed after his confession for her that took many days of contemplating and assurance so he could do the deed in front of her.

Justin poked his left cheek using his tongue in irritation when the young girl did that to the poor boy. He couldn't let the boy's heart broke because of her and so he straightened his posture before getting ready to aim the arrow for Yanyu.

"You? Be your girlfriend huh? Here, listen carefully Arden that I— "

Right when Yanyu was about to reject the young boy, Arden, the arrow shot by Jungkook went through her chest perfectly at the same time.

It honestly made Yanyu very confused because her heart was beating furiously behind her ribs when she gazed at Arden. Arden was actually not that attractive but he wasn't that bad somehow on that moment Yanyu thought that Arden was probably the most attractive person that she ever met and all of his features looked mesmerizing in her narrowing eyes. Justin witnessed it all without blinking and he smirked in satisfaction when his mission succeeded right away.

"I—I... accept you!" Yanyu said lovingly to Arden, eyes softened when she looked at his glum expression.

Arden frankly surprised at her answer that he stared at her incredulously. He just didn't expect acceptance from her at all since he knew the stories from those boys who had confessed to her—all of them got rejected by her and he'd say rather harshly for the way she did that to them. He already braced himself from yesterday for this moment although it was undeniably painful when he heard her jeering after his revelation of his feeling.

"W-what?"

Arden never got to say the rest of his words when the girl of his dream all of sudden grabbed his face and kissed him.

"Mission success! Congrats to the both of you and thanks to me," said Justin proudly and more to himself.

Once he was assured that the new couple would be fine, he went back to his home where all angels lived along with their superiors.

"Oh, hey Kook!" greeted a female angel, Eunha or known as Maximilia. She was assigned as a guardian angel and one of Justin's close friends. The male cupid heard her voice and moved his head to see the female angel. "Hey, Mili! I told you many times before to call me Justin, eh?" Eunha laughed at his response before patting her friend's shoulder. "We're literally not on a mission or a gathering right now so I can call your true name."

The male cupid could only grumble since he knew he couldn't argue with her despite telling her many times before to call him using his alias so he changed the topic.

"Where are you going by the way?"

"I'm about to check up on my human, Somin. Are you done with your mission?"

It made Justin thought back about his recent mission that made him felt prideful. "Yeah, and it is successful." He boasted to his close friend while smirking at her. Eunha rolled her eyes at him when she noticed the familiar expression etched on his handsome face. "Of course, forcing your arrow, huh? What a bad cupid." She mocked at him while playfully sticking her tongue out.

The smug expression on his face instantly fell down and he glared at the female angel. "What the hell are you saying? You aren't—"

"Cupid. I know because I'm a guardian and have done my job correctly so adios!"

The female angel vanished quickly in front of him when her human, Somin, summoned her name.

"Aish, that annoying guardian angel!" He muttered to himself.

Justin or Jungkook is known for his reckless behavior amongst most of the angels that lived with him. It isn't a big surprise for them every time Justin brought up his "successful" missions to them when he came back to this place because they knew that Justin was forcing humans.

How cupid works were actually very easy if you ask.

They will help the future couple IF both of them have the same feeling and the cupid is there to shoot their arrow to help the person that just got confessed to tell their honest feeling and reciprocate the confessor's feeling. You could say that the arrow just helps a little bit to strengthen the feeling.

If one person that just got confessed isn't having the same feeling, the cupid could only heal the confessor and try to match them with the other who's possible to be their significant other.

If the cupid forces their arrow it won't have a good result actually. Yes, the said human will reciprocate the feeling but it isn't genuine and the arrow could be taken any time by their superior if he notices it and punish the said cupid. The only one who can take out the arrow is the leader. Thankfully, Justin somehow could get away from his superior every time the annual report is given to his leader. The other angels weren't that brave enough to tell Justin's superior regarding his behavior since Justin, unfortunately, held something that could be used against them. His leader also never try to check physically since he was a busy angel.

So yup, you could say that Justin is a lucky, reckless, and mischievous angel. He hadn't gotten his karma yet, would he?

Meanwhile, at another place.

"I want you to bring a big mirror to my office, can you do that please?" A tall male seated in a comfy chair while leaning his back comfortably. On his hand, there was a book about the history of humans. He just got back from another meeting with another superior to discuss the annual gathering that would be hold three weeks from now and finally could get some rest after a busy week.

A male angel nodded his head before he sprung to the action and brought the thing in front of the tall male. Without looking at the male angel at all, the man said his thanks and dismissed his presence.

He closed the book that he held after the male angel disappeared from his vicinity.

He looked at the mirror intensely before muttering some words that made the mirror showed a scene of one angel inside of it. Today was finally the right time for him to check out his subordinates to know if they do their job right. Since he got plenty of time, he didn't have to worry about anything or miss out on any of the actions of his inferiors.

After 49 cupids checked out by him, he came to the last one, the famous cupid that was known for his good look and charm—Jungkook or better known as Justin.

He already read many times of his annual report and knew very well that he always does his job correctly. The tall man was honestly proud of him and kind of liked him since Justin had proved his worth as an angel until his eyes watching every scene of him doing his job.

To say that he was livid would be understanding since what he witnessed was very different from what he read in the annual report of this specific angel. He thought that maybe he would give a higher position to him, oh how wrong he was. Thankfully he watched this and assessed carefully each of his inferiors. The tall man was very disappointed with Justin.

He never knew for once that Justin really loves to force his power through his special arrow that was given to him as he was assigned as cupid since the very first day. He broke the most important rule about being a cupid.

Oh, he'd definitely give a deserved punishment for this impetuous cupid.

"Miss Meredith!"

The wavy red-haired teenager in an instant snapped out of her oblivion state once a loud voice boomed from the front of her class.

She moved her head to the front and saw the famous killer teacher in her school stood straight with both hands on her hips. Her dull eyes glared at the redhead fiercely that she wouldn't buy her excuses anymore. "U-uhm..." The teenager honestly didn't know what to say since she didn't pay attention at all from the start of her lesson.

"Out of my class now!"

The wavy red-haired teenager huffed a little before she stood up from her seat and walked out of the classroom. She didn't even give any acknowledgment to the killer teacher at all.

"Good luck, Melian!"

A tiny voice made its way to her ears and she tilted her head to see who the voice belonged to. She gave a small smile when she noticed that it was her crush. She ran out fast when she was out of the class to the girl's bathroom. "Oh my god, oh my god, OMG!" She shrieked in a bathroom while pacing back and forth in front of the big mirror. A stupid smile was plastered on her face.

Subsequently, she stopped abruptly and faced the mirror to look at herself right now. Her right hand lightly placed on her chest area and she could feel her own heart was palpitating fast behind it.

With a bigger smile, she jumped up and down and spun her body once.

"Aaaah! Kim Namjoon spoke to me aaaah!" She squealed loudly inside the bathroom not caring at all since it was soundproofed.

"Lord, I thank You for this beautiful day, beautiful life, and beautiful man as known as Kim Namjoon." She said happily while closing her eyes and clasped her hands like she was praying at the moment.

The sound of the door being opened could be heard and Melian opened her eyelids before looking at the person who just got inside the girl's bathroom.

"Yo, my baddie! Watchu doing he—"

"NORA!"

Melian engulfed the female in front of her when she realized that it was her best friend, Sonora Wolff. "Oof! Calm down Meli!" said Nora in irritation since her best friend loves to give a bone-crushing hug. Melian almost in instant let go of her friend and backed away a little bit. Still with a happy and goofy smile on her face facing Nora.

"What got you looking like a stupid happy squirrel huh?" Nora asked before moving to the sink to wash her hands.

"Nora, you gotta believe me! The great Kim Namjoon, my crush, spoke to me!"

It made Nora stopped her movement before she even got the chance to open the water tap. She turned her body swiftly and placed her hands on top of Melian's shoulders and shooked them rapidly. "What?! I'm happy for you aaaah!" Both of them crazily and cheerfully jumped up and down together. It was very normal for the two of them to be like this. Hell, people mistook them as twins since they had the same personality that made them clicked in the first place. Melian and Nora met each other when they were in 7th grade, still being in a friendship until now. This year marked the 4th year of their friendship.

After minutes of being crazy hyper, both of them finally calmed down and leaned their body to the sink behind them. Both sighing in relief joyfully.

"So, are you ready to confess to him, huh?"

Melian chewed her lips in confusion to respond to her best friend since she was plainly uncertain if she could in fact do it. She was afraid of rejection but she knew well aware of that bad outcome.

"You know exactly I'm afraid of rejection, Nora." She sighed softly after she said this.

Nora frowned a bit when she heard her respond. "You can give it a try, Meli. Do you know that you could lose a chance easily if you don't do it sooner? It's okay for rejection, it's normal you know? Maybe you will have a better one than him." Nora threw her left hand on her best friend's shoulder and rubbed it soothingly.

"You're always right, Nora." Melian beamed cheerily at her when her best friend once again for the umpteenth time successfully cheered her up.

Nora snorted playfully at her before she smacked Melian's head lightly.

"Of course I am! I'm your certified bestie, Sonora Wolff. Don't mess with me you baddie!" It made Melian chortled at her. "Yeh, ay ay captain Nora!"

"Let's go to the canteen, eh?"

Melian knitted her eyebrows in confusion when her best friend said this since she knew damn well Nora didn't like to miss the killer teacher's class at all. "Why the hell we go to the canteen? I mean if it's me, I can understand. You? How about Ms. Stella's class huh?" Nora turned her body to face Melian and she wiggled her eyebrows while smirking at her. "I purposefully got in trouble just for you~"

A look of surprise could be seen on Melian's face before she slapped Nora's hand. "You cheeky bitch!" And both of them laughed together while walking to the school's canteen.

Deep inside, Melian was actually pondering about Nora's words.

It was true that it wasn't only her who had a feeling for Kim Namjoon. Hell, he was famous in their school and many girls had a crush openly on him. Sadly, not even one girl managed to get a yes from him that was why Melian was hesitant to confess to him but then again she remembered that she would easily lose her chance if she doesn't let her feelings known sooner.

"Tomorrow." She said suddenly while looking at a confused Nora. "What? What's with tomorrow?" She replied.

"Wish me luck for tomorrow because your girl is gonna confess!"

The day after today would determine her fate and the outcome of her confession for her crush. She was very nervous to even think about it but she had to do it sooner rather than later. She moved her head to see the bright blue sky from the window in the hallway to the canteen. She didn't know if her mind playing tricks on her but she saw with her own eyes, white flash from the sun for a mere second.

She could only hope that it was a good sign for her.
