Daerim to Sinchon (You are in Love)

Summary:

Haechan trailed his playful chocolate brown orbs around, trying to look for something —better yet, a certain someone.

And like an angel fallen from heaven, he found him. Again. Just a few steps away from his position.

Work Text:

Morning rush hours have always been a bitch, Haechan grumblingly thought. As he ran like his life depended on it while attempting to catch his train ride successfully. The honey-colored brunette uttered hurried ‘sorry’ and ‘excuse me’ as he tried to pass through the bustling crowd.

When he successfully arrived at the platform, his chocolate brown eyes immediately scanned his surroundings. A huge sigh of relief escaped from him after noticing the lack of his supposed train ride and reading the signage that his ride would arrive in two minutes.

Just in time.

Haechan crouched down for a bit, hands leaning on his bended knees as he tried to even out his breathing and wiped away the small amount of sweat gathering on his forehead. A few minutes later, the train eventually arrived, and the brunette stationed himself quickly in his usual spot near the large glass windows. Haechan grasped the handles in a relaxed manner while taking out his smartphone from his coat pocket and hushedly snickered upon reading at his friend’s morning woes.

Bass kick swingin’ like broke lee’s

Jenojaem: dude, why do even classes starts on Monday? Who the fuck even decided that classes need to start on Mondays when there are other days in a week.

Jenojaem: Why did I even pick on taking reinforced concrete structures with good old Mr. Kim. And it’s fucking 8:00 a.am

Jenojaem: pls save me Hyung😭😣!!!

Melk: Good morning to you too, bro.

Melk: And I already warned you last time not to pick that time.

Melk: Anyways, one decaf americano?

Jenojaem: Omg😳 Hyung!!!

Jenojaem: Yes, please!!!!!

Hey, Hyung, how about me?😎 : Haechan

Melk: Go buy your own, Hyuck.

But 😧: Haechan

Melk: Fine, the usual?

You’re the best, Hyung!! : Haechan

    And yes, please!! : Haechan

Haechan clicked his phone shut, ignoring the onslaught of messages from his friends as he hid his phone back in the deep corners of his pockets. He trailed his playful chocolate brown orbs around, trying to look for something— better yet, a certain someone.

And like an angel fallen from heaven, he found him. Again. A few steps away from his position.

Beautiful.

The pretty stranger was standing near the metal pole, perhaps leaning into it as he busied himself on reading the book cushioned in his small, dainty hands.

And this time, his hair was dyed in the shades of brown that looked soft to touch as the morning sun graced it with its presence, making his sandy brown highlights more recognizable. Haechan’s not accurately sure of the proper term, but whatever it may be, it definitely suits this pretty stranger.

He hadn’t had the faintest idea of when this slightest tinge of attraction started. Of who the hell this pretty, alluring, and mysterious person were. What was his name? What would his voice sound like? Would it sound like the fresh, cool breeze, or perhaps hot, warm milk mixed with sweet honey that could make his insides feel fuzzy.

Haechan never found the correct answers to his tantamount of questions. All he knew was that there was this invisible pull drawing him towards this pretty person.

That he had this small dark bruise on the back of his right hand that could easily pass as a birthmark. That the both of them rode and dropped off from the same station. And that his figure and height looked perfect in his arms.

Fuck, Haechan cursed loudly in his head. He’s too far gone already and to a complete stranger that he hasn’t even shared a simple conversation with. Haechan cursed again.

He never felt these strong feelings before, even towards his fair share of old crushes. Everything felt absolutely foreign for him.

The pretty boy began to move his head to the left, his hair danced in unison with his movements, and Haechan couldn’t help but groan at how cute the other was.

Cute

Haechan jolted in the realization that he had said his thoughts out loud as he was met with a pair of sharp brown eyes looking straight at him. And if looks could kill, he could already picture out his death.

Haechan felt the erratic beat of his heart thundering loudly in the confines of his chest, and his breath hitched up in his throat. He suddenly forgot how to fucking speak. God, he looked like a complete blundering fool.

“What did you just say?” Pretty boy suddenly asked. His voice reminds Haechan of the calming morning seas that he had always seen when he was still living in Jeju and the comforting touch of the cold, windy breeze. Unmistakable, it reminded him of home.

“Um..” Haechan stuttered, trying to find his words while his mouth ran dry like a Sahara desert.

Shit, take hold of yourself, Lee Donghyuck! Your mom didn’t raise you like this! Think. Think.

THINK!

“I didn’t say anything,” Haechan lied through his teeth and smiled coyly. “You must be hearing things.”

The pretty boy narrowed his gaze into him, totally not buying his lie.

“Oh, look at that cute puppy over there.” Haechan pointed at the poor unsuspecting old lady with a puppy tucked inside its dog carrier. The pretty boy followed where his finger was pointing at and rIght on time the train halted to a stop. Haechan didn’t bother to listen as the train conductor announced the station’s name as he hurriedly made his way to the door before the other will notice his absence.

But as he hastened his pace, he sneakily whispered to the pretty boy, “You’re cute.”

The pretty stranger stood unmovingly as his ears and cheeks turned pink. But when he was finally out of the trance, Haechan was already standing at the other end, waving profusely, which infuriated the other.

Haechan couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the pretty boy’s cuteness as he watched the train become small like a dot. When he’s finally calmed down, that’s when he noticed that something was very wrong.

“Oh fuck.”

Notes:

Oh, indeed—and Haechan was late in his morning class that very day.

And if you haven't noticed, Daerim pertains to the station where they frequently ride, whereas Sinchon is the station where they get off! I am forever grateful to this wonderful friend who had suggested this particular Stations.

And ofc. It just happened that Daerim sounds like Dream, isn't it—very fitting indeed.

Thank you for reading this, and I hope it somewhat made you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Happy Holidays! Stay warm!

Please leave a comment or kudos; it means a lot! Thank you!
