Work Text:
Natalia lifted her head to look at the green giants towering above her. The vision of trees cutting through the blocks of concrete made her smile. She couldn’t see the stars, but at least she could admire the trees. She let her eyes wander around and her gaze fell back on the dense crowd of New Yorkers and tourists. Happy faces all around, yet she only was looking for three of them.
"Natashenka!"
Ah, here they were. Natalia turned her head toward the origin of the sound and saw the three hockey players: Yasha waving at her, Steve and Sam next to him. The first two had their hands linked and skated in sync and Sam was coming directly at her. He stopped less than a meter away and beamed at her.
"Natalia"
"Samuel"
The man lifted his elbow then nodded at it. “May I have the pleasure?”
Natalia linked their arms then kissed his cheek. “Lead the way, my dear”
The two of them peacefully turned in the rink for half an hour - far from their habitual use of the ice - catching up on what had happened since the last time they had seen each other. They only were interrupted once when Yasha and Steve raced each other - kids, really - and needed referees. The four of them did a few turns together then the pairs separated again.
Sam and Natalia had only made a few turns, chatting about everything and nothing, when a teenager- probably trying to impress some friends - tried to do… something and came barreling at them. They both were sent on the floor - well, on the ice - Natasha landing on top of Sam.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, happens to me all the time.”
“You usually have protection, though.”
“Yes, but why would I need protection from such a beautiful creature?”
Natasha snorted, unable to prevent the noise - her instructors wouldn’t be pleased with her, but she didn’t care anymore. “That was a horrible line.”
“It was great!”
“You are ridiculous.”
“Maybe, but is it working?”
“Yeah, it is.”
And with that, Natalia closed the distance between them and sealed her lips over Sam’s.
