Beep! Beep! Beep!
“Ughhh…”
Andrew’s alarm went off as he slammed his hand on the counter. He had to try a few times to get the alarm to actually stop. He stayed in bed for a few more minutes, until he decided that he’d have to get up sooner or later. He had classes in an hour, so he’d have to hurry a little bit. He got up, put his clothes on, and brushed his teeth and hair out. He’d have to make breakfast, since the campus breakfast was…sub-par to say the least. He made himself some cereal, put on his backpack, and left his dorm. He had to go to physics first, which was a great way to start his morning. It wasn’t all bad though, since he was able to sit next to his good friend, Victor. He didn’t talk to many people, but Victor was different. He was always nice to Andrew, and seemed to genuinely like talking to him. Andrew had other friends like Luca and Norton, but they weren’t as close as Victor was. Andrew was thinking about his classes, when he finally got to the room. He made his way to his seat, but oddly, Victor wasn’t there yet. Huh, he’s always here before me. Maybe he’s just running late. He thought to himself. He waited a few minutes, but class started, and the blonde was nowhere to be seen. Andrew found himself getting a little worried, but tried to shake off the bad thoughts. He’d just check on him after his classes were finished. Andrew felt a little lonely in the class, because usually the two would chat or go over notes. As the day went on, he started to get antsy. He still hadn’t seen him all day. He felt like the day couldn’t go on any longer, and the last class was dismissed. He speed-walked to his dorm to drop off his backpack so he could check on the missing blonde. “Hey, Andrew! You seem rushed, are you okay, dude?” Andrew turned around to see Luca, with Norton and Tracy beside him. Andrew didn’t know Tracy well, but he wasn’t uncomfortable around her. “Um, yeah. I’m just checking on someone.” Andrew blushed a little, knowing that if he said it was Victor, he’d get teased to no end. “Ohhh, I see. Well, good luck with that!” Luca smirked. Andrew hoped he hadn’t caught on, but the smug look on the brunette's face wasn’t a good sign. Luca walked away, most likely going to his own dorm to study with the other two. Andrew continued walking to Victor’s dorm, slowly feeling more nervous. He talked to the blonde a lot, but they’d only been to each other's dorms a few times before to exchange notes. He finally found it, having a little bit of trouble remembering which one it was. He lightly knocked on the wooden door a couple of times, not wanting to be too loud. He waited for a few seconds, but then he heard the door unlock from the inside. Victor creaked the door open, and Andrew’s nervous eyes softened. Victor was about 3 times paler than before, and his eyes were dull and half-lidded. Those eyes lit up a little bit when he saw that it was Andrew. “Oh, hi, Andrew! Sorry that I wasn’t in class today, I tried to come, but Professor Luchino told me to leave because I didn't look well. I feel totally fine though!” Victor sneezed right after, making him trip a little. Andrew couldn’t say that it wasn’t endearing. “You don’t look too great, are you sure you feel okay?” Andrew asked the sniffling boy. “Yeah, I feel totally fine! I think I look fine too, I don’t know what you or Professor Luchino are seeing…” The blonde put his hand on his chin. “I don’t think you can see very well, if that’s the case. You need rest though. Have you gone to the doctor?” Andrew was getting anxious for the other. “No, I don’t think I need to. Judging by your reactions, I think I might though, I’ve been coughing and sneezing all day too, but it’s probably just a cold.” Victor gave in. “Yeah you’re going to the nurse. C’mon.” Andrew took the blonde by the arm and headed in the nurse’s direction. “W-wait! I need to get dressed first!” Victor pouted at the other. Andrew forgot that the other was pretty much in pajamas, with a red sweatshirt and sleep shorts. “Do you want to wait on the couch? It won’t take long, I just need to get dressed and fix my hair.” Victor invited the other inside. Andrew nodded, quickly sitting on the leather couch in the dorm. Victor rummaged through his closet and found some jeans, deciding that his sweatshirt was presentable enough. He groggily walked to the bathroom, taking a few minutes to freshen himself up. Andrew looked around the dorm, noticing the little details that the blonde added. He had a dog bed for his dog, Wick, who the staff hesitantly allowed to stay at the school as long as he stayed in the dorm and outside of the school. Andrew wondered where the dog was, as he wasn’t in the bed, but those thoughts soon ended as the puppy came running to the couch from behind a chair. “Oh, Um-!” The dog jumped onto Andrew’s lap, making itself comfortable. So this is what Victor deals with every day, huh. The albino looked down at the dog, who was cuddled up onto his lap. Victor’s bathroom door unlocked, and he came out with his new clothes on and hair looking less messy. “Awww, hello, Wicky! Do you recognize Andrew?” Victor walked to the couch and crouched to the dog’s level. “He seems to like you! Thats so sw-AAACHOO!” He was interrupted by a sneeze which spooked the dog, as well as Andrew. “Aw, sorry, Wick. I didn’t mean to scare you! Same goes for you Andrew.” Andrew was pretty sure he was joking about the last part, but he was still a little embarrassed. “Um, we should head to the nurse now..” He mumbled and Victor frowned. “Fine..It’s gonna be a waste of time though, since i’m completely fine.” The blonde started coughing right after. Victor grabbed his keys, and they left the dorm, Wick still startled from the sneeze. As they walked down the hallway to the nurses office, Andrew looked over at Victor. Andrew didn’t realize how bad the boy really looked, but the closer he looked, the sicker. His face was red, his eyes were watery and his stance was less Victor than usual. He was more slumped, walking slower than he usually did. They made it to the nurse, who was clicking away on her computer. “Um, Miss Emily?” Andrew tried to catch the woman’s attention. “Hm? Oh dear! You look terrible! Please, come in.” She looked up and saw Victor, who looked slightly worried. “Is it really that bad?” He whispered to the other, who stood by the door. “Yes, I told you!” Andrew whispered back. “How are you feeling? Have you had any symptoms of anything?” Emily turned her chair to face the blonde. “Uh, i’ve been coughing and sneezing all day..and i haven’t been feeling as hungry as usual, but that’s it i think…” Victor replied. “Have you been feeling weaker than usual?” The doctor asked. Andrew was staring intently at the blonde, wondering what his answer would be. “Um, kind of. I’ve been tripping over stuff and it’s hard to get up when I sit down.” Victor admitted. “I see. You should rest for a while until you get back to normal. Can you keep an eye on him?” Emily looked over to Andrew. “Oh, um, sure.” He blushed a little. “Well, you can take some of these, they’re just cold pills, but it’s all i can do to help. Feel better soon!” Emily waved off the two boys, who were heading back to Victor’s dorm. “Sorry if this is a problem, you don’t have to check up on me if you don’t have time. I’m feeling fine anyways.” Victor mumbled. “No, it’s fine. I want to help you get better, so don’t worry about it.” Andrew reassured. “Really? Thanks, I appreciate it.” Victor gave the other boy a light smile, his voice still nasally from the sickness. They finally got to the dorm, and Victor opened the door. Wick ran up to him and jumped onto his legs. “Hello, buddy! I’m gonna be here with you for a while!” He picked up the excited dog as Wick wagged his tail. “You should probably try to get some rest, like Miss Emily said. Do you need anything?” Andrew asked. “No, I don’t think so. Thanks though!” The blonde climbed into his bed, setting the dog down with him. “Night, Andy! See you tomorrow!” He chimed, coughing a bit afterwards. Andy? He’s never called me that before. Andrew found himself blushing a bit, but Victor’s eyes were closed so he would notice. “Um, goodnight.” He shut off the lights and was about to leave. Before he did he just wanted to try out something. He walked over to Victor’s bed, the blonde already sound asleep, with a light smile on his face. Andrew leaned down and gave him a little peck on the forehead, before rushing out of the room. Thank the Lord he was asleep… He thought as he walked back to his own dorm, bright red. Maybe Victor’s sickness would bring them closer. They’d just have to find out together.
