A Winter On the Beach

Summary:

Jack Frost may not like swimming too much, but he loves to surf and freeze waves.

Work Text:

It was a nice cold day on the beach. The parking lot was empty, in the summer it would’ve been so packed it would take an hour to get a spot. There were little shops lined up, but most of them were closed.

Jack Frost looked at the ocean with a smile. The Atlantic Ocean was always cold, but Jack preferred surfing in the winter. He attached his staff to a strap on his back. Running across the lukewarm sand, Jack made a beeline to the water. His bare feet slipped through the uneven sand and stumbled a little. Halfway to the water, he jumped up into the air. The wind blew all around Jack as he searched for the biggest wave. Quickly, he dove for it.

He made a sheet of ice and as he hit the water, managed to stay on it. He laughed and pushed himself up and stretched out his arms. A gust of wind gently blew and he felt salt water splatter on his face. MiM, he loved the beach. He didn’t really ever like swimming but it was worth it for the adrenaline that rushed through him as the wave crashed and he was pulled under water.

He swam up and laughed before panic at the sudden plunge settled. He grabbed his staff, and in seconds, he was in the air again, searching for another wave. This time, as he dove for the wave, he froze it and skated across the ice.

Another adrenaline rush and Jack laughed as the wave started to break behind him. Now the only thing stopping him from falling into the water was how fast he could go. He narrowed his eyes at the new, one sided competition. Jack called the wind to slightly increase his speed, and then froze more of the wave in front of him. Jack reached the end of the wave, and jumped into the air.

A sudden noise made him pause. It was like the twinkling of stars, and sand moving. He looked up to see Sandy.
“Hey!” Jack called, and Sandy waved at him. Sandy flashed a few dreamsand symbols at him, and Jack sheepishly grinned.
“Well, I don’t like to swim, but I didn’t say water related activities were out of the question.” Sandy rolled his eyes.
I was beginning to think that I was about to check you for illness.” Sandy signed, teasing Jack. Jack laughed and sat next to Sandy on the cloud of sand.
“You’re a bit early, it’s only five. Were you so worried about me?” Sandy laughed silently and shook his head.
In your dreams, Jack.” Jack smiled. Then paused.

“Hey, how does your sand react to water? Is it like normal sand or.. something.”
Sandy shook his head.
It’s different. Waterproof.” Jack grinned from ear to ear.
“Wanna surf with me?”
