Chapter Text
It was morning.
Mondsadt had barely woken up when Razor did, near the window, his favourite spot in Miss Lisa’s house.
He couldn’t sleep without it: the cool air that swept over him with the gap of the window, the sounds of nature within his ears grasp, the bird song that lightly woke him. It reminded him of sleeping outside, and reminded him of his first home. It had been a while since he slept outside he noticed, as he looked at the empty roads. He longed for it yes but not enough to refuse the shelter offered to him. Miss Lisa after all, makes a most compelling cream sweetcorn potato soup.
Plus, if he were to choose to go outside for so long, he’d have to ask permission: the word 'responsibility’ was a long one to him but it came quite clear what it meant when explained to him. Whether his choice or not, people expected him to come back after certain sun points and the last thing he wanted to do is make people worry.
It was rather saddening. The longer he stayed here, the less likely he could go back: he smelt like them, was more like them, and so grew farther and farther from being like a wolf.
He shook the thought out and went downstairs, plain shirt and common attire.
Miss Lisa was in the open kitchen, her Favonius uniform hanging on the coat rack, the flowers and potions dotting the room. “Morning Razor, Jean needs me out so no lessons today. But don’t worry, you have me all morning sweetie.” He said nothing back, it wasn’t uncommon of him not to: with it being so early in the morning, talking was simply not on Razor’s mental capacity.
Miss Lisa placed down a plate in front of him, ruffling his hair on the rare opportunity, and sat beside him with her own portion. “Adventurer's Breakfast Sandwich with a touch of my expertise, fit for a growing boy like you.” But the words passed Razor’s head at the smell of it, it took all of his might to not even devour it before Miss Lisa sat down but the moment she did, the teacher gave a nod and he tucked in.
After the meal, content as he was, found himself wondering what to do. The ultimate goal of protecting everyone he knew was looming over him as he pondered, despite the reluctance to acknowledge the reason why he had to. He grew pensive.
“What’s troubling you?” Miss Lisa asked as they both began putting the plates away.
“...Hmm. How do…become stronger?”
“Stronger? Well there are many ways. I bet you’re thinking the improvement of strength just comes from yourself right?” Razor looked like he wanted to object,”I'm not talking about teamwork, you do really well in those don’t worry. I’m talking about reactions: putting two elements together to create something. It’s something we couldn’t really do since we’re both electro cutie, but there’s a reason why on dangerous commissions it’s a good idea to bring more than just one vision user.” They finished packing up the plates and she began putting her hat on.
“Remember that every vision user has a limit on how powerful they are. You could have the biggest weapon, strongest will, greatest elemental mastery. But I almost guarantee that you could never beat two people working together, making magic happen.” She opened the door for the two to set off, soon to part ways.
“The main takeaway sweetie is to experiment with others.” She smiled a little, “just don’t go too crazy, especially with pyro. I’ll see you later pumpkin.” And so she went towards the Knights Headquarters, leaving Razor to slowly walk out the gates of Mondstadt, wondering so ever hard on why Miss Lisa called him an orange vegetable.
