The Interview

Summary:

Rita interviews Harry slightly before Yule during his fourth year

Notes:

Chapter Text

Harry was grumpy. Dumbledore wanted him to make nice to Rita Skeeter. Harry was already annoyed by the woman's disregard for the truth. Now, he was stuck giving her an interview before the Yule holiday was to start. Granger and Weasley had abandoned him, not surprising, he thought, given who they were. Perhaps it was time to let everyone know about his two so-called best friends. He was sick of them and Dumbledore.

"Harry, I heard the most interesting rumors, I heard you were to be sorted into Slytherin."

"The Sorting Hat did say Slytherin is where I would find my real friends. I wish I had picked Slytherin instead of Gryffindor." Harry was going to enjoy this. Time to switch the script to Dumbledore and his clowns.

"Real friends, Harry?" Rita wasn't expecting this. She thought she was going to have to use her special quill.

"Yes. REAL friends." Harry shrugged.

"I'm sure you might have found real ones in Gryffindor," Rita suggested, she hoped she was going to get a scoop but didn't want to ruin her chances so she had to be sure.

"No. I don't like liars." Harry wanted to add fame mongers, stalker, and a few other choice words but didn't.

"Liars? Harry, who lied to you from Gryffindor?" Rita was on the edge of her seat, well, not literally.

"Ron Weasley on the train. The first thing he said to me was a lie." Harry loved how he wasn't lying.

"The very same boy that has been harassing you at Hogwarts?"

"Yes. I've never done anything to him. I try to avoid him and his bullying along with some girl from Gryffindor." Harry wanted to laugh. Dumbledore was going to have a fit.

"Bullying? Hmm. We'll get back to that later if you want."

"Thank you for respecting that I might be uncomfortable talking about some things. They certainly don't. They believe they have the right to know everything about my life and dictate how it should be run." Granger spang to mind with her bossy attitude.

"Of course, dear. Has someone not been respecting your privacy rights?" Rita was loving this. This was better than she had hoped for. This was going to allow her to purchase her desired Yule present herself.

"Yes. Dumbledore. He told Weasley and Granger (the girl I mentioned earlier) about my relatives and scars from their abuse." Harry figured in for a penny in for a pound.

"And Ron Weasley used that information to verbally attack and bully you?" Rita was a bit shocked. She was going to have to take a peek at the boy's medical files before she left Hogwarts.

"Yes. He plays at making nice with me when I'm around. But when I'm not he is so malicious. See, a liar. Well, that one time in the library he showed me his true colors." Harry was going to have for a resort after this interview.

"Could you tell me and the readers what that first lie Ron said to you?"

"On the train, he said 'everywhere else was full'. A lie. I could easily see that the compartment across the aisle was empty. It's been lies ever since." Harry was aware that a magical train would never be full since they could use magic to expand the train. They did it with the compartments so why not the train?

"That doesn't seem like an awful lie. Maybe he wanted to make a friend?" Rita was aware many wouldn't think it was that big of a deal.

"He asked to see my scar after staring at me. He knew who I was as his mother was on the other side of the platform asking about where the platform was and mentioning the platform number, and the word muggles." Harry was a bit giddy, this was fun.

"So, not just any friend then?"

"No. The-boy-who-lived. He wanted to be my friend because of my parents' death."

"I see. I haven't seen them talking to you, well, most of the school in reality." Rita hoped Dumbledore was going to spew his tea when he read this interview.

"They decided I lied to enter the competition. I swore on my magic that I didn't. They don't believe me. The Headmaster is forcing me to remain in the contest despite knowing I didn't enter it. Barty Couch said it is because it's a magical contract. My question is, if I didn't create the magical contract, how can I be held accountable to fulfill it? If magical contracts worked that way, wouldn't everyone just create magical contracts and force innocent people into doing them? Couldn't Dumbledore have created one where He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named killed anyone, he would lose his magic? See it doesn't make sense."

"I find I agree with you." Rita was doing a mental tap dance in her head.

"It has been so bad that some of the Slytherins in my year have had to watch my back because of Ron and Ginny Weasley as well as Hermione Granger throwing spells at my back and in class, like potions, for example, things into my cauldron. They could have killed someone."

Rita raised her eyebrows. "Indeed. Back to a previous statement, you mentioned abuse? I do not need the details but have you informed anyone on the staff outside of Dumbledore?"

"I have as well as several other adults. Dumbledore has insisted to them that my relatives love me and care for me. My letter was addressed to the cupboard under the stairs. He has made me return there each year. The Weasley twins had shown their mother the bars that were on my window but she dismissed them as well. When I was in primary school, one teacher wanted to do something about the abuse but suddenly she was gone and my relatives beat me for it and informed me that the old fart fixed things for them. I learned later the old fart was Dumbledore. They have enjoyed informing me how he knew and doesn't care."

Rita's face lit up with glee. "Are you sure he is aware? I mean besides the statement you said that he informed Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger?"

"Yes, he even told me that he was aware that I would not arrive as healthy as he hoped but I would be alive. If you call being almost starved to death alive." Harry didn't keep the bitterness out of his voice.

"I see. Harry, what would like to be done about this?"

"Honestly, I just want a way from my muggle relatives before they kill me. I was thinking of asking anyone but the Weasleys to adopt me or something. Anything to get away from them." Harry didn't add that he wanted away from Dumbledore and his pets. "This school has almost killed me each year so far."

"Yes, yes, I heard the rumors. They are true?"

"Yes, a possessed professor, a troll, a Basilisk, a fraud of a DADA professor, dementors, and well, now this. Honestly, it's a bit scary here." Harry shuddered as he remembered the dementors.

"Oh, my." Rita was writing away. She was going to be researching these different events and making money for the rest of the year on the stories. She was about to ask another question when there was a knock on the door.

"Oh, great, I bet it is Weasley. He was upset because I was being interviewed and he wanted to be in here so he could be in the paper."

Rita didn't respond as the door opened and Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger walked into the room. "Harry, aren't you going to be late for your interview?"?

Rita didn't miss the eye roll. She had to agree. "I am sorry but we are finished unless Harry has anything else to add?"

"Aren't you going to introduce your two best friends?" Granger smiled at Rita.

"I will if they arrive before Ms. Skeeter leaves." Harry stood up and held out his hand. "It was a pleasure, Ms. Skeeter."

"No, the pleasure was mine, Harry. The story will be out on Monday which I am aware is after the train leaves for the Yule break but I am sure you will see it." Rita smiled as she left the room. She transformed into a bug form.

"Harry, why didn't you tell us?"

She watched as Granger punched Harry. "Why would I? Have you forgotten the pair of you dumped me again?" Harry rubbed his arms. "You need to stop hitting me."

"You need to tell us what was said. You can inform us while we pack for leaving tomorrow."

"No, I do not need to tell you anything. Leave me alone." Harry opened the door which hadn't fully closed and stormed away.

Rita remained hidden on the wall. "Well, you blew it again, Hermione. I keep telling you to stop hitting people."

"Like you were any better. You weren't to let him out of your sight. The Headmaster wanted us to be seen as the Golden Trio again. He is still mad at us for not believing Harry and the vow. You should have informed me of what making a vow meant."

"As if he took a vow, please, he is a fame hog and he entered to get his name in the paper just like he did this interview without us for the same reason. I never wanted to be his friend since I learned he could talk to snakes during our second year. The only reason I am is because of the money we are getting and the fame when he dies."

"Ron, you are an idiot and you need to be careful of what you say and where. Now come on, let's go and get Harry back into our good graces. I think we might need to use potions again."

Rita remained where she was for several minutes after the duo left. She had a few people she needed to speak with. It was time to get Dumbledore and his pawns into a lot of trouble. This was the best Yule gift and she was going to make sure Harry didn't suffer through another awful Yule either. Severus was the perfect person to get Harry away from Gryffindor. She flew to the potion master's private quarters. They had some plans to make.

Chapter Text

Harry decided to hide for Yule and figured no one would look for him down in the Chamber of Secrets. He never provided how to enter the Chamber. Weasley was aware of the entrance but didn't know how to open it since the boy almost fled whenever Harry spoke Parseltongue plus he was more focused on keeping Lockhart from running and concerned for his sister. The weekend had been a nightmare with Granger and Weasley demanding Harry to provide information on what was said to Skeeter. Since it was Monday and Skeeter's article would be in the paper, he figured it out it would be best to avoid the Great Hall hence the Chamber of Secret hideout.

Harry had been sneaking books and other stuff down to the Chamber for the last few years. The Basilisk was still preserved and Harry had written a letter to Gringotts seeking information on how to sell the Basilisk which he was sure would make Dumbledore's blood pressure rise. Harry had also written to the goblins and the Ministry regarding his status since he was entered into an of-age tournament against his will. He was sure Dumbledore was going to demand Harry visit him in his office. Harry didn't want to listen to the lies that would flow from the man's mouth.

Harry had located several other rooms down in the Chamber including a room full of potion ingredients and books. He had Dobby search for an unused bed as well as several usable pieces of furniture. Dobby had done an excellent job of turning the place into something livable as well as comfortable. He already arranged for Dobby to get him a copy of the Daily Prophet so he could see what Skeeter wrote. He just had to wait.

Harry unpacked the breakfast the elves had made for him when he visited the kitchen before heading down here. The elves provided him with some eggs, bacon, and some tomatoes as a toasted sandwich. They wanted to give him a full English breakfast but Harry didn't think he could eat that much nor did he want to take a chance of being discovered. He was about halfway through when Dobby popped in and handed him the paper.

"They be looking for you, Master Harry. They not happy with what was written." Dobby tugged a bit on his ears. "Dobby was ordered to find you."

"They can't do anything to you. They don't know you are my elf. If they give you a hard time, get Kreacher and have some fun with them."

Dobby almost was bouncing with excitement. "Dobby will do." Dobby popped away.

Harry opened the paper and had to grin at the headline.

HARRY POTTER BETRAYED BY THOSE HE TRUSTED!!!!!!

I, your favorite reporter, had the honor of interviewing Harry Potter. I must say the young man I met wasn't anything like we have been led to believe. As many are aware Harry's name was drawn from the Goblet of Fire naming him the youngest champion. Two headmasters, one headmistress, several witnesses as well as a Ministry employee witnessed the fact that Harry has denied entering his name and has been trying to get removed from the tournament. However, it has been denied.

Harry has been denying his entrance to the tournament. "They (his former friends as well as the several others) decided I lied to enter the competition.

It doesn't make sense. Why hasn't anything been done about this? Another interesting factor I questioned our Savior regarding the truth to the rumor about him almost being a Slytherin.

HP: "The Sorting Hat did say Slytherin is where I would find my real friends. I wish I had picked Slytherin instead of Gryffindor. It has been so bad that some of the Slytherins in my year have had to watch my back because of Ron and Ginny Weasley as well as Hermione Granger throwing spells at my back and in class, like potions, for example, things into my cauldron. They could have killed someone."

RS: "Real friends, Harry?"

HP: "Yes. REAL friends."

RS: "I'm sure you might have found real ones in Gryffindor,"

HP: "No. I don't like liars."

RS: "Liars? Harry, who lied to you from Gryffindor?"

HP: "Ron Weasley on the train. The first thing he said to me was a lie."

RS: "The very same boy that has been harassing you at Hogwarts?"

HP: "Yes. I've never done anything to him. I try to avoid him and his bullying along with some girl from Gryffindor."

RS: "Bullying? Hmm. We'll get back to that later if you want."

HP: "Thank you for respecting that I might be uncomfortable talking about some things. They (Weasley and Granger) certainly don't. They believe they have the right to know everything about my life and dictate how it should be run."

RS: "Of course, dear. Has someone not been respecting your privacy rights?"

HP: "Yes. Dumbledore. He told Weasley and Granger (the girl I mentioned earlier) about my relatives and scars from their abuse."

After I recovered from the shock at the idea of our Savior being abused, I continued. RS: "And Ron Weasley used that information to verbally attack and bully you?" I was able to discover the truth regarding the muggles and Harry has a long history of physical abuse as well as mental. His letter was addressed to the cupboard under the stairs. It was his room! He doesn't even have a room at his muggle relatives' house.

HP: "Yes. He plays at making nice with me when I'm around. But when I'm not he is so malicious. See, a liar. Well, that one time in the library he showed me his true colors." Harry also mentioned this. "He asked to see my scar after staring at me. He knew who I was as his mother was on the other side of the platform asking about where the platform was and mentioning the platform number, and the word muggles."

Doesn't that break one of our laws? Why hasn't anything been done? What was the purpose of this? As a pureblood witch with five children who attended or currently attending Hogwarts why did she need to voice those questions? It just screams of a plot to make sure Harry had the correct friends according to Dumbledore.

RS: "Indeed.

RS: "Are you sure he is aware? I mean besides the statement you said that he informed Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger?"

HP: Yes, he even told me that he was aware that I would not arrive as healthy as he hoped but I would be alive. If you call being almost starved to death alive."

RS: "Harry, what would like to be done about this?"

HP: "Honestly, I just want a way from my muggle relatives before they kill me. I was thinking of asking anyone but the Weasleys to adopt me or something. Anything to get away from them. This school has almost killed me each year so far."

RS: "I heard the rumors. They are true?"

HP: "Yes, a possessed professor, a troll, a Basilisk, a fraud of a DADA professor, dementors, and well, now this. Honestly, it's a bit scary here."

We were interrupted by a knock on the door. HP: "Oh, great, I bet it is Weasley. He was upset because I was being interviewed and he wanted to be in here so he could be in the paper." The door opened and Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger walked into the room. "Harry, aren't you going to be late for your interview?" Granger spoke for the duo.

RS: "I am sorry but we are finished unless Harry has anything else to add?" Harry was ready to end the interview since the bullying duo arrived. We shook hands.

HG: "Harry, why didn't you tell us?" Granger punched Harry. Yes, the girl punched him. I was a bit surprised by the action but learned it wasn't the first time she did it. She has a habit of hitting anyone who disagrees with her or does anything she doesn't like.

HP: "Why would I? Have you forgotten the pair of you dumped me again?" Harry rubbed his arms. "You need to stop hitting me."

GH: "You need to tell us what was said. You can inform us while we pack for leaving tomorrow."

HP: "No, I do not need to tell you anything. Leave me alone." Harry left the room while I remained hidden from the duo.

RW: "Well, you blew it again, Hermione. I keep telling you to stop hitting people."

GH: "Like you were any better. You weren't to let him out of your sight. The Headmaster wanted us to be seen as the Golden Trio again. He is still mad at us for not believing Harry and the vow. You should have informed me of what making a vow meant."

RW: "As if he took a vow, please, he is a fame hog and he entered to get his name in the paper just like he did this interview without us for the same reason. I never wanted to be his friend since I learned he could talk to snakes during our second year. The only reason I am is because of the money we are getting and the fame when he dies."

GH: "Ron, you are an idiot and you need to be careful of what you say and where. Now come on, let's go and get Harry back into our good graces. I think we might need to use potions again."

Well, my Readers, I fully understand why Harry doesn't want them as friends. Who needs friends like that in their life? I am sure we will discover the answers to the question of why Harry has been forced to remain in sure a deadly tournament. I am sure we will discover what will be done to his muggle relatives, as well as Molly Weasley, for breaking the law. How much more of the life and times of Harry Potter has been a lie and one that Headmaster Dumbledore has been pushing on all of us? We do not stand for child abuse and our Savior has been dealing with it since the night his parents' were murdered. We demand answers and I am hoping we will get them.

Harry read the article again. Dumbledore was going to have a fit. Harry spoke the truth so he wasn't worried. He would take truth serum or provide memories if he needed in order to escape the Dursleys and Dumbledore's controlling attitude. He was sure Granger and Weasley were being very vocal in the Great Hall. He wondered if he could hide the whole holiday down here just to total mess with them.

Chapter 3

Notes:

This was originally designed for Harry to be older. Not in his fourth year. However, the muse had other ideas

Chapter Text

Severus lowered the paper. He had read it twice since he arrived back at his quarters after a very long day. He never read the paper at the Head Table. He had been curious when the students' voices rose and was a bit surprised when Granger and Weasley started screaming about whatever they were reading in the newspaper. He immediately scanned the Gryffindor table for Potter. The train was leaving to start the Yule holiday and he assumed the brat would be down with his friends since he remained at Hogwarts each holiday.

"I warned you about those muggles. I told you what they were like but you insisted that he was protected there."

Severus was a bit confused. Who could have upset two out of the three Gryffindor pets as well as Minerva? "I am going to kill him." Weasley's voice carried over the raised voices as he stood up. "How dare he lie!"

"Ron, sit down." Granger tried to pull her moronic friend back into his seat. The students started to pay attention to the trio of Idiots. The Slytherins were eager for any news to share with their families as well as several other dark-aligned families.

"Why didn't you check for Rita? Why didn't you add a privacy charm?" Weaslette had hastened to join her brother. She looked between the two of them. "Well? Why didn't you?"

"I thought she was gone. She left after Harry." Granger's admittance sparked a slow-burning fury as the students in Slytherin informed others of what Granger had done.

Dumbledore shot a spark into the air to regain control. "Hermione, Ronald, and Harry join me in my office." Severus noticed that while Dumbledore might appear calm, the man was furious at whatever was written in the paper. He glanced at the annoyances in Gryffindor.

"Harry isn't here, sir." Granger glanced around the Great Hall confirming her belief. Severus wondered if she thought Harry Potter would appear because of Dumbledore's demand or her desire.

"Most likely hiding in with the snakes like the dirty traitor he is." Weasley's anger-filled voice filled the hall. "I am going to kill him when I see him." Oh, great another repeat of Potter's second year. Well, he had thought Weasley already abandoned Potter but Dumbledore meddled and last week they were friends again. He had wondered when Potter would get tired of being abandoned by the pair. He had a feeling Dumbledore had a hand in keeping the trio together and wondered why.

"My office, now." Dumbledore walked toward the staff entrance. His kindly demeanor was gone and Severus recognized the man for the general he was.

Minerva stood up. "Severus, please join me in Albus' office. He won't be getting away with this that easily." Severus wasn't sure why he was needed but he wasn't going to miss the show.

Poppy stood up. "I will be joining as well. I warned him and that boy's home life. I tried to get him away from those muggles." Poppy glanced at the three Gryffindors leaving the Great Hall. Poppy stopped and waited for him by the staff door. "Severus."

"Poppy?"

"It is worse than the article stated. I have warned him since Harry first entered Hogwarts about how dangerously close the boy had been to death because of those muggles. I warned him to stop playing games with Harry when I caught him adding potions and compulsions on the boy. You must listen to what isn't being said by those four. Minerva lets Albus get away with too much."

Severus was confused. "This is about Potter?" Potter was a miniature version of his father. There was no way the boy was abused. He would have noticed, right? Doubt crept in as he thought about some of the memories he caught glimpses of during their ill-fated inactions over the years. As he thought of those interactions between Potter as well as several others, he wondered. Was he truly blinded by his hatred of James Potter? This new information revamped a few things including that perhaps the Sorting Hat was right. Potter was better at hiding himself than he believed.

Poppy inhaled deeply. "Yes, it appears Harry has finally had enough of the games."

Severus glanced over his shoulder to see the students at Gryffindor pointing to the paper as they spoke to other students in different houses. Potter? What did the boy do? Why did Granger think admitting the mistake about Rita in the Great Hall was smart. If she was the smartest witch of her generation he feared for her generation. He might need to change his habit of not reading the paper in the morning.

Severus was almost to Dumbledore's office when the shrill voice of Molly filled his ears. This was going to be very interesting he was sure. As he got closer, the youngest two Weasleys voices joined their mother's. He was at the gargoyle when it was suddenly quiet. "Enough. If you didn't say those words, I am sure Albus or Severus will pull the memory and we can review what was said. After all, it would be slander as Rita used direct quotes." Minerva's stern voice reminded him why you don't get her angry.

Severus walked up the stairs and into Dumbledore's office. Molly was walking back and forth between the students and Dumbledore's desk. Minerva was standing to the right of the desk and Poppy was by Fawkes. "I agree. Let's review the memory." Molly didn't see the wide eyes of Granger or Weasley as the pair exchanged looks.

"Why should we have to do that? Why isn't our word good enough? Why shouldn't Harry be the one who gets asked why he answered Rita's questions as he did?" Weasley demanded. Severus recognized Weasley was going to deflect his guilt onto the one who wasn't present. It was his standard practice to do so.

"I am sure it's a slight misunderstanding and once we locate Harry, it will be resolved." Dumbledore's eyes were twinkling as he popped a lemon drop into his mouth. Severus wondered if Dumbledore ever thought of another type of excuse.

Molly looked at Dumbledore, confusion appeared on her face. "Albus, either you or Severus will pull the memory of this event so we can verify what happened. If Rita lied, we will need the memory to support the case."

"We are aware of Rita's abilities to transform the truth into whatever she desires. I am sure a new scandal will break and Harry can provide a statement to the press with the facts." Dumbledore smiled at the group. "Many people do not believe the stories Rita prints." Severus arched a brow. If they didn't, why did Dumbledore speak to the woman so much during the last war? If they didn't, why was she still employed? Honestly, Dumbledore's eyes should have been brown.

"He wasn't lying and you know it. I warned you when he first arrived that he was almost dead because of his relatives. I am also aware that Molly sends him food every summer. If he wasn't starved why was she sending him food? If he wasn't being abused, why were their bars on his bedroom window? If he wasn't neglected, why doesn't he have clothes that fit? If he wasn't neglected why isn't he as tall as his parents were? He isn't even half of their height." Poppy threw up her hands."Never mind, you are going to dismiss it as you have continued to do with every single abuse case I have tried to report. The only reason why I have remained here is that I feel as if I didn't, the abused students would be dead because of your greater good and family love." Poppy didn't give Dumbledore time to reply as she stormed out of his office muttering about idiots.

"I warned you about those muggles as well. You assured everyone that Harry was protected, how much they loved him, and how he was magically trained. The boy didn't even know he was a wizard until his eleventh birthday and you sent Hagrid to take him shopping. Hagrid didn't even get him the muggle-born books. Shall I mention how you had Molly at the platform to make sure he found the way to the train? How many reports did you get of her mentioning the platform number as well as muggles? You were the one who arranged this interview, not Harry, so each of you will cease blaming Harry. It appears that Harry has had enough and wasn't afraid to voice his concerns. He certainly voiced his concerns over the years which fell on deaf ears much to my shame. I let you convince me that Harry would be safer with Petunia!"

"What? You placed Harry Potter with Lily's magic-hating muggle sister?" Severus had been reviewing everything he knew about the boy as he had been listening to the Gryffindors. Poppy's words hit him hard as he realized the potions she had asked for each year were for Potter.

"I am sure Petunia loved Harry. He is still alive, isn't he? He doesn't have a huge ego that if he remained in our world, I am sure would have developed. He doesn't use his fame to get his way. It has worked out rather well and I am sure he will fix whatever issue Rita has stirred up by this interview." Dumbledore reassured them.

Severus didn't like what he heard. He didn't bother to push further as he was aware it would be useless. Dumbledore was set on his course of action and no one would derail him. Minerva, however, wasn't about to give up. "Albus, you will find him a place to reside during his summer holiday. I will not permit you to return him to those muggles."

Severus wasn't sure what the point would be of Potter returning to the muggles. However, Dumbledore would have his way come June. Severus had a feeling it also solved the mysteries that had been happening over the last few years. Dumbledore never informed anyone of the truth regarding the mishaps over the years except to give his pets points. Severus scanned the group of Gryffindors. He needed to review his memories regarding Potter. Dumbledore had some type of plan and it was a plan that he was sure no rational person would be happy to hear. He needed to read the article Rita wrote. "If I am not needed, I will have a potion brewing and I believe the students will be gathering up the last of their belongings since the train is due to leave in less than two hours."

"Yes, yes, indeed, Severus, you are correct. Hermione, Ron, Molly, and I will discuss what was said."

Severus wanted to protest when he heard those words. Dumbledore was going to review the memory of the interview but he didn't want Minerva or him to view it. The article was truthful he was willing to bet. He wondered what Lucius would make of the interview and what consequences might come because of it? Well, that problem would wait until he had time. Severus left Dumbledore's office.

Severus stared at the paper as he thought. Potter stirred up a lot of trouble with the truthful article and he was wondering what Lucius and Ministry would do regarding it. He would have to make sure he was involved with the plans to keep the boy safe as well as prevent Dumbledore from forcing Potter back to those muggles. He had a feeling it would be dangerous if Dumbledore did as Potter didn't appear to be so accepting of Dumbledore's words or beliefs. He didn't care if the muggles got hurt but Dumbledore would. Dumbledore would either react by throwing Potter into Azkaban until he needed him with complete control over the boy with spells and most likely some type of Ministry-approved slave-type spell. The other option would be for Dumbledore to cover it up and use unapproved ways to control the boy until Dumbledore forced whatever future confrontation he had planned when or if the Dark Lord returned. No one deserved to be treated the way Dumbledore had treated the abused students in the past but Severus feared what Dumbledore had planned for Potter. Dumbledore wasn't the kind grandfather many believed him to be. No, Dumbledore was a ruler that let others assume they had the power while he controlled their world. It might be time to call in some favors.

Chapter Text

Harry grumbled a bit as he packed his stuff up. He had to return to Hogwarts and didn't want to leave the Chamber of Secrets. Dobby had been very helpful in keeping him up to date on everything as well as obtaining the Daily Prophet for him. Harry was sure his so-called friends and Dumbledore would be demanding answers but he spoke the truth and he wasn't going to issue a retraction or as Dumbledore assured everyone in his statement that once Harry returned from his holiday, he would clear up the slight misunderstanding. When asked where Harry was, Dumbledore declined to indicate where Harry was but simply stated that Harry was in a safe and protected place and would return when the new term started.

Dobby, however, was able to inform Harry that many were demanding answers to how Harry was able to be forced into remaining in the contest. Dumbledore hadn't been able to come up with a suitable answer. Dobby explained his former master, Lucius Malfoy, was demanding the removal of Harry from the Triwizard Tournament and for Barty Crouch, Sr. to explain his actions as magical contracts would not have forced Harry to participate in the contest. Harry was a bit surprised that Malfoy would be making the most noise regarding his entrance.

"Harry Potter, they be looking for you." Dobby was trying not to wring his hands in concern. "The loud Weasley and Yarn Granger have been spreading a lot of lies."

"I am aware as you have told me, Dobby. I am sure it will be interesting when I go back up there. Have fun with the two of them and if Weasley's sister gets involved, add her to the list. No more Mr. Nice Guy, Dobby. I am done."

Dobby had an evil look on his face. "Anything, Harry Potter?"

"Anything, Dobby. Think of it as my second year again but make it worse for them." Harry thought of something as Dobby's excitement at the idea grew. "Dobby, how about we make sure Rita and Lucius Malfoy are here for when I have to go upstairs? I will write some letters, you just need to deliver them."

"Dobby will. Dobby will make sure they are here."

"I don't think you will need to make sure. I want you to make sure Dumbledore can't stop it." Harry headed over to the desk he had set up. He wrote the two letters and Dobby left quickly.

The whole Chamber of Secrets was set up as a small flat. Harry wondered where the tunnel lead so he explored and discovered the different rooms. He had a bedroom, a living area, a small library, and a small kitchenette. Dobby had helped deliver the Basilisk's corpse to Gringotts. The goblins were going to sell the parts for Harry. The funds would be in a different vault so that Dumbledore wouldn't be able to touch the funds. Harry still needed to go to Gringotts. He promised the goblins he would as soon as he could but it might not be until the end of the school year because of Dumbledore.

Harry had a few more hours to kill but his stuff was packed. He didn't want to appear before Rita or Lord Malfoy had a chance to arrive. He took down one of Salazar Slytherin's books and started to read it. He learned a lot during his short holiday and was looking forward to teaching Granger she wasn't as smart as she thought she was. Dumbledore didn't want Harry to learn about his heritage which is why he was sure the Weasleys were on the muggle side of the platform.

Harry frowned when his alarm went off. He closed the book, gathered his belongings, and headed up to the bathroom. Harry wasn't surprised to see Snape standing in the bathroom but he was surprised to see Lucius Malfoy. "I do believe Potter wasn't expecting your presence, Lucius."

"I wasn't. I was expecting him and Rita to be in the Great Hall. This just makes it easier for me to get to the Great Hall without the annoying trio of idiots that Dumbledore has determined must be my friends. I do believe the new era of Marauders he was hoping to form. I think the Marauders were bullies based on what Lupin informed me they did last year."

POV: Severus:

Severus shouldn't have been surprised but he was. He had hoped they would have caught the boy by surprise but when they watched the sinks move and Harry Potter appear, Potter wasn't surprised to see him. Potter's statement also confirmed to him that the boy was a Slytherin and was going to make Dumbledore's Gryffindor disappear. "Indeed."

"Indeed. After all, according to the rules of the Triwizard Tournament, I am an adult but I can't see Dumbledore permitting me to remain free of his guardianship. I figure it was time to pick my guardian, hence, I invited Lord Malfoy to Hogwarts."

Severus could see the calculating glint in Lucius' eye. They were dealing with someone aware of his power, his clout, and was going to make sure he was protected until he could freely use his power. "I must say, Potter, I am impressed. I should have realized something was different about you during your second year. I would have never expected a Gryffindor to use such tactics."

Harry shrugged. "We don't have time to go through everything because I know Dumbledore and his pets are looking for me and eventually, one of them might figure out I used the Chamber. I am sure they believe I left Hogwarts since they prefer to forget I am a parseltongue."

"An accurate assessment. I believe your special cloak will enable you to make it to the train area to keep them unaware." Severus could see the boy was almost staring at their left arms. He wondered what the boy learned. He was aware that Weasley informed everyone that Lucius was a Death Eater but did Harry know he was one as well?

Harry pulled his cloak out of his back pocket. "I will follow the pair of you. Students tend to avoid being seen by Professor Snape." Harry put on the cloak.

"I would suggest a silencing spell on your shoes and breathing before we leave." Severus had used the lack of those spells to discover the boy when he had used the cloak before.

"I did."

A voice behind them caused the pair to jump. They turned and could see just Potter's head floating. "You let me catch you?" Severus wasn't afraid to admit to himself he was confused by this bit of news.

"Of course, it kept the two idiots from doing more stupid things. It was bad enough with Dumbledore and Granger casting compulsions on me to do those stupid adventures while also playing stupid. I mean, honestly, the information was almost hand fed to us with just reading Dumbledore's card." Harry's head disappeared. "Open the door, someone is on the other side of it waiting."

Severus exchanged a look with Lucius. Lucius cast an invisibility spell on himself. He hoped he bypassed Potter and opened the door to the restroom. Granger and Weasley were standing there. "I do not believe that Granger required an escort to use the facilities or are you teaching Weasley how to bathe?"

"Sir?" Weasley was trying to look past Severus.

"No, sir, we were hoping Harry might have used the Chamber and since the entrance is in there, but you were in there, so you must have-"

"Cease your prattling. Detention tomorrow with Filch for stalking." Severus was aware that Dumbledore would remove it but it would still be in the records and that is what counted as far as he was concerned. Severus felt Lucius and Harry pass him as he took a step out of the doorway and into the hall.

"What? We weren't-"

Granger hit Weasley. "Sir, we are just worried about our friend."

Severus glared at the pair. "I am sure." He headed toward the stairs. He needed to get away from the pair before he cursed them. He was almost to the front door when Lucius appeared. Lucius gave him a slight nod. So Potter had made it out of Hogwarts.

Dumbledore and Minerva joined them as the first of the carriages reached the steps. "I wasn't expecting you, Lucius."

"I am here on behalf of the Ministry and Board. We want to make sure Potter returns to Hogwarts and discovered the truth about the article. As you are aware they are several departments who want to speak to Potter."

Severus didn't miss the glare directed at Dumbledore. "I am sure it is just a slight misunderstanding and everything will be cleared up shortly. There is no need for you to remain."

"I will speak to Potter first." Severus could see Rita mixing with several of the upper-year students as she walked toward Hogwarts.

"As will I." Rita smiled as she moved to stand next to Lucius.

Dumbledore didn't look happy with the idea of Lucius and Rita being present but there wasn't anything he could do to remove them without causing more problems. Minerva was very happy with the arrival of Rita and Severus wondered if the old cat had written a letter as well as Harry and him. The students were wondering what was going on since Dumbledore, Minerva, Lucius, Rita, and Severus were standing by the wide double doors to Hogwarts. They didn't have to worry for long before Harry arrived. "Hello. I had the best holiday. No one hit me, no one starved me, and I got to do my assignments before I stepped onto the train."

Severus thought those words were a perfect mix of Slytherin and Gryffindor. "Harry." Dumbledore's tone of disappointment didn't have any affect on Harry. "Perhaps we could discuss this in my office after the feast."

"Potter, we have a few issues to discuss. I would love to have a chat with your regarding the situations mentioned in the interview you gave to Ms. Skeeter."

"Certainly. Ms. Skeeter, would you permit me to escort you into the Great Hall? Lord Malfoy, I am sure we can have a lively conversation during our meal. I do have some legal questions I need answered and from what I heard from your son, you are the best one to ask regarding them."

Severus arched a brow. "I shall endeavor to do my best. The Ministry has several situations which I have been assigned to handle. I am sure the Headmaster will permit a privacy charm at our end of the table while we discuss the situation."

Severus watched the panic reach Dumbledore's eyes. "I am sure my office will be fine after the Welcoming Feast. We do not want to keep the rest of the students away from their meal." Dumbledore turned and walked away before anyone could deny his request.

"Well, that was a bit rude. However, I have no problem with a privacy charm. Perhaps Professor Snape should join us?"

Severus wasn't surprised that Potter didn't include Minerva. He had tried to get her assistance before and it was denied. "Professor McGonagall should as well."

"Yes, it will keep the Headmaster from becoming overly concerned." Minerva felt a lot of guilt hit her when Potter didn't include her and Severus was aware it wasn't the first time since the interview that the woman was realizing she had too many jobs and not enough time for her charges.

Lucius escorted Minerva to the Great Hall. Severus followed behind the two pairs. Things were going to change at Hogwarts because of Harry Potter. Perhaps the rest of the magical community would realize just what the neglect Dumbledore has done has cost Hogwarts as well as her students past and present.

Chapter Text

Harry sat down at the empty end of the Gryffindor table. Before any adult could sit, Granger and Weasley got up from their seats and headed toward Harry. "Harry, you have a lot to answer for." Granger had her hands on her hips.

"Granger, return to your seat." Minerva's lips thinned out as the two stopped and looked at the Headmaster. "Now." She wasn't sure what Dumbledore was hoping to accomplish by forcing Granger and the two Weasleys on Harry. The article was very clear, they weren't his friends and Harry was aware of their actions.

"Yes, ma'am." Granger grabbed Weasley and pulled him back to their previous seats. Ginny had been walking toward them but stopped before she could be reprimanded. Ginny returned to her seat.

Lucius, Minerva, and Severus sat down opposite Harry. Rita moved her chair to a position facing Harry and Dumbledore. Harry waited as Minerva cast the privacy spell. Harry pulled out his wand and started hissing. He watched each of them closely. Lucius and Severus shivered while Minerva shook a bit in fear. "Extra protection."

"Before we begin, I must apologize Potter for not being aware of the situation as well as not listening to your concerns during your first year. I doubted the muggles when you were placed there and I should have listened to my doubt but I let the headmaster's words to ease my mind." Minerva had done a lot of thinking during the Yule holiday break. She learned stuff about herself and she wasn't impressed by how much Dumbledore controlled her actions with his words.

"He does have a way of making you believe what he wants you to believe." Harry thought the woman had too many jobs to pay attention to the students. He wasn't going to say it because he wanted her on his side. One less person for Dumbledore to be able to use against him.

"Indeed."

"The Ministry has several concerns regarding the interview you gave. Normally, someone from Wizard Protective Services would be handling this case but due to several factors, the Minister has decided he wants to be involved and guarantee you a safe place to live. A worker and mind healer will meet with you once we have settled some of the legal issues. There are a few things that we need to confirm before we can handle the situation with the muggles. It isn't anything that will stop you from being removed from the muggles but we do need to make sure everything handled correctly including a full medical history scan. The healers will recommend what will be needed to fix any issues including your eyes."

"I get it, make sure the i's are dotted, the t's are crossed." Harry wasn't surprised. Every governments love their paperwork.

"Yes, exactly. I will need authorization from you to speak to your account manager regarding your heir training, who has had access to your accounts, your parents' wills as well as your magical training before Hogwarts." Lucius started to pull a pouch from his robe with the required paperwork.

"What are you talking about? What do you mean heir training? My accounts? I have a small trust vault. My parents' had wills? I didn't even know I was a wizard until Hagrid arrived to take me shopping." Harry thought he mentioned some of that information in the interview about Hagrid. Heir training? Accounts? He had more than one vault?

Minerva's face turned red, Severus turned and glared at Dumbledore while Lucius smiled reassuringly. "Yes, your interview did hint at some of that aspect but we have to provide the evidence as being printed in the newspaper doesn't account for evidence." Lucius sighed. "This honestly isn't the best place to do this. You can't afford to miss any meals and these scrolls need to be handled before we can move forward."

"I agree but if we try to leave Albus will interfere." Severus hoped what he wasn't saying would be understood by Harry. Lucius would understand it since they were used to dealing with the senile old fool.

"He would." Harry didn't look at Dumbledore. "However, since I was declared to be of age and given the same privileges the seventh years have, can't we go to Hogsmeade without it being a problem? I do not want to be under his control." Harry grabbed two pieces of bread and made a sandwich out of the roast beef on his plate. "I will just take this with me."

"Normally, it wouldn't be a problem. The Headmaster has been looking for you since you disappeared and the article came out. If we were to leave Hogwarts, he could summon the Aurors and claim Lord Malfoy or Professor Snape were kidnapping you while I would be assumed to be under a certain Unforgivable. I suggest we discuss the issues here and after you finish eating, we will handle the paperwork. If we try to use any of the classrooms or my office, I fear it would result in Aurors arriving before we could finish."

"I find I am in agreement with Minerva. Potter, Lucius will need some of your memories regarding the muggles. You will need to sign statements regarding the lack of basic educational requirements as well as the wills, your accounts, and your titles."

"We do need to do this before the feast ends. I do not believe Potter will side with Dumbledore up in his office but he does have a lot of power and we do not want anything swept under the rug. I would also suggest a written statement to accompany your memories as well as the memories from the discussions you might have heard regarding your friends."

"I am not sure about my memories." Harry swallowed. "I don't want everyone to see them. It is bad enough being talked about but I don't want the pitying looks or to cause people to claim muggles are like my relatives."

"The normal procedure is a staff member from Wizard Protective Services, Madam Bones, and a limited number of Wizenagamot members will view the memories. They confirm the abuse while Madam Bones access the legal levels and definitions regarding what is viewed. Normally, it is a closed session. However, Dumbledore has been pulling some strings claiming your interview was false. Ms. Skeeter has already submitted her memory of the interview which enabled us to act faster." Lucius pulled out some memory vials from his pouch. "I would recommend you provide as many different years and a variety of events over those years. Professor Snape is able to pull the memories as he is listed as a certified Legilimens. Professor McGonagall and myself will sign as witnesses and the vials will be sealed until they are opened to be viewed by those selected."

Harry looked at the vials. "I think you are going to need more than those."

Severus pulled out his wand. "Potter, would you mind if I did a basic medical scan? It will be used by Lucius but it might help eliminate the need for more vials."

Harry chewed his lip for a few seconds. "Who will see this scan?"

"Just those who will be under a Vow of Protection." Lucius noticed Rita's quill was taking notes on what they were saying but she was also writing with a quill about what she was seeing. He would have to speak to her later. She had already been warned about what she could print and he was going to make sure she didn't print anything that was to be under protection.

Harry nodded as he put his sandwich down. He didn't feel like eating. Severus raised his wand and cast the spell. A wide piece of parchment appeared at the end of a slim white line stemming from Severus wand. "Since Severus had to get his mediwizard license to be a Potion Master, we might be able to use this scan instead of getting a second one but I can't guarantee it." Lucius warned Harry.

Harry nodded as he watched the parchement grew as it went through his medical history. He was aware he opened this can of worms but didn't mean he had to like it at the same time. He was just sick of being treated as if he didn't matter, as if he wasn't worthy of anyone caring for him. His parents died for him so he had to worth something to someone. He was sure Sirius would tell him how much he loved him but the man thought he was James.

Severus watched the parchment growing and was getting very concerned about the boy in front of him. He had made a vow to protect the boy and he failed in his duties because of the meddlesome old fart. Severus was wondering what else Dumbledore might have done. He glanced at Lucius. Lucius nodded his head. Severus had used the spell to see if there were any binds, potions, or compulsions on the boy. If there was, they would indicate when they were done and depending on the age or power of the binds who cast them.

Minerva was staring at the parchment as it continued growing. Guilt was causing her stomach to start to turn. What had she done by agreeing with Dumbledore? She was guilty of aiding in child abuse. She felt sick as she started to review the decades of working at Hogwarts and the staff who went to the headmaster about students being abused. Dumbledore always dismissed their concerns and said he was sure they were loved. Severus was one of those boys. Slughorn had gone to Dumbledore a few times a year with his concern about Severus but it was ignored in the same manner as a certain dark haired boy who attended Hogwarts when she did was ignored. Did Dumbledore help create He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named? Minerva looked past Lucius and caught Severus' eye. He nodded. Yes, they would be discussing this situation.

The parchment finally stopped growing. Severus handed it to Lucius. "Harry, I need you to think of your time with the muggles first. After that, we will do your time here, and anything else you think might help your case." Severus held his wand up. "Tell me when you are ready." Severus noticed the unfinished sandwich. He would be adding some potions to the boy's diet. Harry again nodded. Severus wasn't about to demand a verbal answer. He was very aware of much of an emotional struggle Harry was going through. Severus cast the spell and started to fill the vials.

Lucius was reading through the scans. He paled at a few results and almost got sick when he was about a quarter through the scan. "We need to get him to Gringotts, tonight."

"Lucius?" Lucius handed the results to Minerva. He pointed to the spot she needed to see. "Merlin, as soon as Severus is done, we are heading straight there."

Severus wasn't sure what they were seeing but it must have been bad if they were going to take a chance on Dumbledore summoning the Aurors. Once the vials were full, Severus sealed them, signed the seal with his signature, and used his wand to place a bind on the tops. Lucius didn't even speak as he thrust the parchment to Severus and pointed to what he needed to see. Severus felt sick. "Rita, you are following us. I don't want anyone to say we are kidnapping Potter but we need to leave now."

Harry was a bit confused but he stood up. He wasn't sure why he trusted the two men who he never would have trusted before. Minerva rose. "Potter, do not let anyone stop you from getting to Gringotts. Get there as fast as you can. Do not worry about us. Once there, you tell them you want a full scan done as well as a magical inheritance test. If need be, we will create a diversion for you."

"Yes, ma'am."

"I will make sure he does." Rita figured it was bad given directions Harry was issued.

The group started for the doors and kept going ignoring Dumbledore's demand to return. They almost raced to the front doors, not that they would admit to running. Minerva stopped on the stairs. "Go. I am going to lock these doors. I will join you as soon as I can."

Lucius, Severus, and Harry gave her a concerned look but obeyed. They rushed to the apparition point and Severus grabbed Harry. "Hold on, hold your breath, and don't let go." Severus apparated while Lucius made sure they got away safely. He could see Minerva heading toward him and waited for her. The apparated to Diagon Alley.

Chapter Text

Minerva and Lucius could see Harry, Rita, and Severus almost running up the steps to Gringotts. They were aware that Dumbledore would call for Aurors but only select ones. Lucius was going to have the goblins summon Madam Bones and Wizard Protective Services as soon as possible. They were almost entering Gringotts a stunner missed them. They entered the bank. The goblin guards were instantly alert. "We need to join Harry Potter and Severus Snape. Dumbledore is sending some of his people after us to stop Harry from being seen by his account manager as well as a healer." Lucius explained.

"Go, Lucius, I will delay the Aurors with the guards as long as possible. Harry needs to be our priority." Minerva looked at the guards. "I will try to stop the Aurors from creating an issue."

"It would be advisable if possible." One of the guards tilted his head. The guards stepped out of the way but were still alert. Lucius headed to the teller area.

Minerva waited until the Aurors entered Gringotts. "Your assistance isn't needed, Kingsley nor yours, Mad-Eye."

"Minerva, I was summoned with Mad-Eye. Albus claims that Harry was kidnapped by Lucius Malfoy, Rita Skeeter, and Severus Snape." Kingsley didn't believe it. According to Dumbledore, Minerva was attempting to stop Lucius, Rita, and Severus from kidnapping Harry but there was something about the story that didn't ring truthful to him, especially after the article and the fact that Dumbledore refused to answer questions about Harry's life. Rita would have followed for the story but she wouldn't kidnap someone.

"They didn't. We brought him here." Minerva pulled out the results of Harry's test. "This is why." She handed the results to Kingsley. "About halfway down, you will see why."

Kingsley frowned as he started to read down the list. He paled as he read. Mad-Eye was reading as well. At the spot in question, each man paled. "Do you believe Albus knows? Do you believe he is responsible for everything?"

"Yes, Albus was the one who insisted Harry be placed with the muggles. I expressed my doubts. It was also before Black was arrested but Harry had been missing for over twenty-four hours as we placed him there in the early hours of the second of November. You know he would have run scans. It also explains why he knows He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named will return."

"Do you think they will be able to untwist or fix Harry's magical core?" Mad-Eye was scanning the remainder of the report. "Basilisk venom? Phoenix tears? Compulsions, binds, and suppressors? How is the boy even alive?"

Kingsley was still pale. "His core is working overtime. How hasn't it collapsed? If the binds remain with the two souls?"

"Let's get answers." Minerva suggested.

Meanwhile:

Severus didn't waste any time requesting his account manager while Lucius spoke to another goblins about getting a healer as well as a ritual specialist to join them as well as the Potter family account manager. Rita was quietly spoke to another goblin about making sure they weren't distrubed. They were escorted to Account Manager Blacktooth's office. They could see Minerva was talking to Kingsley and Mad-Eye.

Harry was trying to figure out what was so important that they had to leave Hogwarts after they expressed their concerns about him being kidnapped. Once everyone was sitting, Severus explained what they needed and why. He did leave out the information they discovered as he didn't want to upset Harry until they had a second confirmation and a solution. "Professor McGonagall has the scan I did. I believe she is showing it to the two Aurors." Rita wasn't even taking notes. Harry wondered why but didn't question it.

"I can do a complete scan that will be certified to support your scan. Our scans are a bit more detailed. It will provide a date of injury, if a potion cured it or Heir Potter's magic cured it. It will produce three different forms on some parchment. One will show muscle damage as well as the dates. Another one will be a skelton form showing any broken or misaligned bones and the dates. The third will show any core damage as well as nerve damage with the dates as well. We can also address any issues we discover." The healer was mentally making a list of potions they would need for long term treatment based on what she was seeing in the young boy in front of her.

"I am a bit concerned about the lack of knowledge concerning your accounts, Heir Potter. I was informed that you were aware of your status and I have several signed letters authorizing withdrawals as well as permitting several valuable items to be removed from your vaults over the last decade." Account Manager Steelwielder was the Potter family account manager. "I have tried for several years to speak to you."

"I never gave anyone permission and certainly didn't sign any letters authorizing anyone to remove anything." Harry wondered what had been removed and who was doing it. He figured it was Dumbledore but wondered if some of the books Granger was seen reading where removed from his family's vaults.

"I will set up the ritual rooms for a health scan, magical scan, and I do believe a purge will be needed as well as a healing ritual as well." The Ritual Master looked at the boy. "Perhaps a before and after test?"

"It might be worth it." Blacktooth pulled out some paperwork. "I am assuming someone will be claiming guardianship of Heir Potter?"

"I am here on behalf of the Ministry and Wizard Child Protection Services. I believe my wife is the closest magical relative. Heir Potter's grandmother was my wife's aunt. I can summon her while Heir Potter goes through the required rituals."

"We can provide paperwork for temporary guardianship until it can be finalized. Unless you disagree, Heir Potter?" Blacktooh looked at the boy.

"I don't have an issue with it. I was the one who invited him to Hogwarts." Harry was a bit uneasy about why so many people were concerned about his results. He had a feeling it had to be worse than he was thinking given how quickly they went from being worried about being arrested for kidnapping to running for the apparation zone outside of Hogwarts' wards. "What is going on?"

"We are going to find out. I am Healer Bloodthirsty and Ritual Master Runfast will be working with you and I to fix whatever we discover." Healer Bloodthirsty tried to reassure the young boy. "How about you come with me for some ritual scans that I will do while Runfast will set up the rituals we need for some of the testing we will need."

Harry rose and followed the healer out of the office. He could see Professor McGonagall was standing with two men. Harry assumed they were Aurors.

Blacktooth's office:

"There is a Horcrux in Harry. The abuse has been so bad that the Horcrux is almost fully merged with Harry's magical core. The scan I did, showed the Horcrux has been working on keeping Harry alive." Severus spoke as soon as Harry left the office and the door was closed.

"Soul magic? Who was stupid enough to do it?" Blacktooth wondered about some wizards.

"I believe the Dark Lord. Dumbledore must know about it. He has always been sure the Dark Lord would return. Harry also has Basilisk venom and Phoenix tears in his system. Dumbledore never told anyone what was petrifying the students two years ago. However, I had to brew a potion for curing poison. I am not sure how he interacted with Acromantulas but I never treated him for it but it showed up on the list of injuries for the same year. Dementors also caused problems. He has an issue with balance as well on any form of magical travel." Severus was going to poison Dumbledore.

"Let's deal with the account issues while Bloodthirsty and Runfast do their job." Steelwielder opened the accounting books and produced a list of withdrawals with dates as well as who the funds went to. He pulled out the authorization letters. He handed the letters to Severus. He handed the list of withdrawals to Lucius.

Steelwielder produced another list. "The Potter family has a standing order with any reputable publisher for the first edition of any book printed to be sent to their vault. As you can see, Albus Dumbledore has been helping himself to the Potter library. He sealed the Potters' will but I can inform you he never had the authorization to gain custody of their son. He was a witness to the will. We have tried to get the will unsealed by he has stopped it each time. Sirius Black, Alice Longbottom, or Severus Snape was to get custody of Harry if anything happened to them with Narcissa Malfoy being an alternative if anyone on the list was unavailable or a magical family, hopefully, related."

"Are you able to do anything about the items and funds?" Lucius couldn't get the man out of power currently but he was going to make sure Dumbledore's lies would be exposed. "Rita, you can't use most of this as it there won't be any way to reveal this without breaking a few treaties. However, I do believe, you could do some twists."

"I am aware. I was going to focus more on the abuse issue if Harry would permit me to continue doing some follow-ups. Dumbledore will claim he was doing it for the protection of Harry no matter what we present or what we just learned but the health scan can be used." Rita was also thinking of ways to get into the Headmaster's office and discover what else might the old fool be hiding.

"Agreed. Lord Malfoy, perhaps get the will unsealed. It will reveal a lot of information. I can get everything returned once Heir Potter confirms the authorizations weren't done by him and the health scans show his abuse by the muggles."

"What can we do about these Horcruxes?" Severus didn't want the Dark Lord to return. He didn't think their world could handle another war.

"We will be working on the issue. Since we have one of the items here, we will be able to perform a ritual to collect the rest of them and destroy them. It will take a bit but we will need to wait on what Healer Bloodthirty and Ritual Master Runfast can provide us regarding the mangled Horcrux inside Heir Potter." Blacktooth was making notes regarding the issues they discovered.

"We also have to discover what Heir Potter's legal status is regarding his name being withdrawn from the Goblet of Fire. He was declared an adult and we need to make sure what legal issues we might encounter if he selects a guardian as well as claims his titles. There are several small vaults we have that have gifts. I am wondering if there is a redirect on his mail since he never received any mail from us regarding his accounts." Steelwielder glanced at Blacktooth. "We need to mention a cleansing ritual to Runfast for magical communications."

"I will send a note to him." Blacktooth pulled a clean piece of parchment from his desk. He wrote a quick note and sent it off. "I also suggested he send a team of ward breakers to scan the muggle's house."

"Let's take care of the paperwork and start on the legal aspect while we wait. I do not believe the Aurors will bother us but I would prefer not to take a chance." Lucius was very aware of how much power Dumbledore had and how unwavering many of his supporters were.

Meanwhile:

Harry was scared as he stripped. He could see the runic symbols in a circle around a black marble stab. Bloodthirsty was speaking to several other goblins who were by an altar on the other side of the room he was in. The room had white marble walls with just one door. The room was round and the altar appeared to be floating. He walked to the slab. "Let's began." Bloodthirty pointed to a slightly raised end of the slab. "Your head needs to go there. Spread your arms and legs out but at a comfortable distance from your body. This will take some time as it is several indepth scans. You will see the runes emit different colors as they do the scans. Do not be afraid. We will be here with you. Once we are done, I will discuss with Rune Master Runfast what rituals need to be completed for you to be healed."

Harry swallowed. "Thank you for explaining."

Bloodthirsty waited until the different goblins were in position. There was a goblin standing by each rune. Once everyone was in place, she began the chant with the other goblins joining her. Harry didn't understand what they were chanting but he could feel the magic build before it settled over and in his body. It was a bit strange and became heavy during some parts but never felt as it was threatening him. The lights did change and at times the tempo of the chanting changed as well. Harry was getting sleepy and the chanting seemed to lull him into sleep. He didn't resist.

Chapter Text

Minerva:

Kingsley, Mad-Eye, and Minerva moved to a side area and the goblin warriors placed a privacy barrier around them. "I am aware we took oaths to the Order but what Albus has done or permitted is beyond acceptable." Minerva felt sick. She had trusted Dumbledore since she was a student.

"It explains why he has been positive that Dark Wanker would return." Mad-Eye looked at Kingsley. "You know why he called us."

"Yes, and as I think about the people in our department, they are mostly the ones that will follow him even if they didn't join the Order. He has been building a private police force while controlling every aspect of our government and children. Tonks is a good example. She wanted to be a mind healer but he talked her into becoming an Auror because of her special skill."

"It was what worked in the last war. Most of the Aurors were Order members. We did a lot of unsanctioned raids on those he deemed dark. He would get authorization after the fact. It was accepted by everyone for him to do so but if anyone else attempted to do it they would have been arrested."

"He has had too much control for too long. Harry shouldn't have his life endangered nor any student." Minerva sighed. "I went to school with He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named. Dumbledore was the one who introduced him to our world. Lily mentioned something interesting during Harry's birthday party. Grindelwald's great-aunt told her about how Grindelwald and Albus were friends when they were teens. The greater good comes from their time together. Lily dismissed it as nonsense from an old lady. It isn't nonsense. Aberforth was the one who told me that they were together and it was what caused the death of their sister. A fight broke out because Albus had been ignoring his siblings. Aberforth left Hogwarts to take care of their sister and after Albus finished Hogwarts, he got guilty conscious about leaving on a world trip with Grindelwald. A duel between the three boys accidentally killed their sister. Aberforth will tell anyone it was Albus who caused their sister's death but Ablus won't admit it and has gone the extreme opposite way to pay for the death as a way of redemption."

"I don't know much about how the mind works but it sounds possible." Mad-Eye's eye was scanning the area. "It makes sense in a way. Before Grindelwald, there wasn't much of an issue regarding light vs dark magic. Some magic does need to be monitored but we need more information."

"Agreed. Too many things haven't lined up for several years. If the story about Potter is true what else has he been hiding?" Kingsley looked closely at Minerva. "Marauders remained me of a few things he permitted them that he hasn't permitted anyone else."

Minerva felt a bit guilty about the Marauders. "Yes, including covering up Sirius Black's attempted murder of Severus with Remus Lupin during their fifth year. Remus was innocent in the matter but he would have been killed if James hadn't saved Severus in time."

"I think we need to have more information on that situation." Mad-Eye thought that explained a lot of the issues Severus had with James and Sirius.

"As you know, Remus is a werewolf. During his transformation one night, Sirius sent Severus to the Shrieking Shack where Remus was secured during his change. Severus had opened the door and James was able to pull him away before Remus could hurt anyone. I am not sure if James transformed into his stag or how they were able to be protected but Albus warned Severus if he reported it, it would be two pureblood families against a half-blood and they had the money. He also used guilt to force Severus into keeping it hidden by saying Severus would be murdering Remus who was innocent in the matter."

"What?" Kingsley exchanged a look with Mad-Eye. They had been discussing many issues since Harry's name had been entered into the tournament as well as the interview.

"I fear it gets worse." Minerva proceeded to tell them about the yearly events since Harry attended Hogwarts. She admitted she didn't know the full story but mostly guessed some of it from the results of Harry's scans, the interviews, and what she had witnessed during the last few years.

"Wait, you mean the Dark Wanker was possessing a teacher, a Basilisk was loose, and he permitted a known werewolf to teach when he was aware of how a tenured professor feels about werewolves and Remus as well as not assisting Potter in getting out of a deadly tournament?" Mad-Eye was wondering what he was going to tell the Dark Lord. The Horcrux issue was going to be tough as it was but to inform him of the treatment of Potter. Well, that was another matter. The Dark Lord didn't like child abuse and Harry Potter was extremely abused.

"I am afraid so. I am not aware of how he managed to cover everything up. I am not even sure how he was able to keep Harry in the tournament. It would have only taken a simple Vow or even having him deny entrance since Albus is his magical guardian. Barty claimed it was a magical contract but the rules were stated for an of-age wizard, Harry is three years younger."

"He could have." Kingsley frowned. "Barty should have known that as well. He has too many people willing to bend the rules for him."

"Agreed. I think the power has gone to his head. He has been ruling our world for far too long." Minerva sighed.

Mad-Eye didn't comment as he processed McGonagall's comment. Perhaps a change was necessary. He was going to have to be careful with how he presented this to his Lord. Potter was splitting Dumbledore's supporters and it might be a better idea to keep Potter from Dumbledore.

"Could you keep Dumbledore away or prevent him from learning what we are doing?" Minerva looked hopefully at the two Aurors.

"Yes." They answered without asking each other. "Go and see what they are doing. Mad-Eye and I will work out what to say."

"Thank you." Minerva stood up. "We will need to meet afterward and see how we want to proceed. I do not want Ablus getting control over Harry and I think a select number of Order people should be included in why."

"Agreed but we can't tell Black or Molly Weasley."

"I do have a question that might clear up the Black issue. Why hasn't Albus as Chief Warlock gotten him a trial? Perhaps you might want to discover that he hasn't been given one." Minerva winked at them before leaving the room.

Harry:

The ritual room was flashing with different color lights as the team of goblins worked on healing and fixing Harry Potter. The Horcrux was the biggest issue they had left. Ritual Master Runfast was reading the different results they had been getting from the runes. They had already removed the binds and fixed what health issues they could. "The Horcrux is very twisted around the boy's core and soul."

"Could they have a soul bind?" One of his assistants asked.

"I believe they do. It is going to be tough to determine what type of soul bind and how it will affect each of them. The rest of the Horcruxes have been destroyed but we can't bind or remove this one at present without endangering the boy. It doesn't appear to have any bad effects. Instead, his magical core is almost five times more powerful with the removal of the binds. It is also gold, not black, so he isn't corrupted by the Horcrux." Runfast pulled a scroll closer to him. "The Horcrux has even bled into the DNA structure to help keep the boy from being killed."

"The Horcrux is the only reason he has survived those muggles. The boy's eyesight was almost destroyed." Healer Bloodthirsty showed Runfast the medical scan result. "There is part of the Horcrux's signature in each organ, bone, and tissue. The Horcrux healed him enough to keep him alive but couldn't do much more because of the small fraction of the soul used to create the Horcrux. We will never be able to remove it but I believe it will never be able to take control of the boy because the fraction is too small and spread too thin to do so."

"I have to agree. It also wouldn't want to endanger the host either. The binds being removed show a massive increase in the brain area as well. The boy might start to learn whatever Tom Marvolo Riddle learned by the time the Horcrux was created." Runfast pushed the book he had reviewed before the ritual and the brain scan results. "Before and after the ritual. Look at the increase in brain activity."

Bloodthirsty looked at the results. "The Horcrux is activity teaching him. Do you think it has an attachment to the boy?"

"Yes. It could have taken over when he was younger but it didn't. Instead, it helped to keep him alive." Runfast pointed to a paragraph in the book. "Horcruxes are designed to want to live and with a living host as a baby, it could have taken over during the first year. It wouldn't have done it that night because he was healthy and could have fought it off. Dumbledore may have bound it to the scar but he didn't bind its magic."

Bloodthirsty read the paragraph. "The wizards only believe Harpo the Foul made a Horcrux. They don't know the complete history or Dumbledore might have killed the boy that night given how he feels about dark magic if he became aware of how the Horcrux could have corrupted the boy."

"I don't think he planned on the boy living." Runfast looked at Bloodthirsty. "You heard Steelwielder, Dumbledore has been helping himself to the boy's assets and hasn't provided any training."

"True." Bloodthirsty looked at the boy sleeping on the ritual table. "Dumbledore made a huge mistake."

Runfast grinned. "Yes, and I believe it will aid us. Let's wake him up and get him back to the humans who brought him in."

Severus:

Severus' was working hard at burying his anger. The mess that Dumbledore made of Harry's accounts was going to take a long time to fix. He didn't even want to think about how much the man stole from Harry. Lucius was working on getting some investments going on Harry's account when Minerva joined them.

"We have Mad-Eye and Kingsley with us. They are going to keep Albus busy why we handle this." Minerva sat down. "Anything I need to know?" Severus, Lucius, Steelwielder, and Blacktooth filled her in on what she was missing. During their discussion, an improved Harry Potter arrived.

Severus was a bit shocked at the new Potter. He was taller by several centimeters, way too thin, but the biggest change was his eyes. They were green with red specks. The hair wasn't wild but still a bit curly. His pale was a bit lighter and had more of Lily's shape to it. If the boy had red hair, he would have looked more like Lily than James. "The red specks....Albus will use that against Harry. He knows about the Horcrux and use it to claim Harry is dark."

"There is a bigger issue." Runfast handed the results to Steelwielder. "We can't remove the Horcrux. It is in every aspect of Heir Potter's being. His magic, his soul, his DNA, and every organ. It is the reason the boy is still alive. However, there is good news. The boy isn't dark and will never be dark. The Horcrux could have corrupted the boy and taken over when he was younger but instead, it kept him alive and worked on saving the boy. It is why there is so much of the Horcrux inside the boy and not just in the scar."

Harry paled at what was being said. His magic started to leak out. The walls and floor started to shake. Those in the room could feel the magic leaking into the air and how powerful it was. Severus pulled out a calming draught and at Healer Bloodthirsty's approval gave it to Harry. "Drink this. I don't think we need you destroying Gringotts."

Harry drank the potion. "What this means is that we will need to research the soul bond between Tom Marvolo Riddle and Heir Potter. We believe it will be more of a parent bond given the Horcrux's actions so far. If it is, there will be a guardianship issue as I am aware that Dumbledore will not want that bond to form. It might be the bond needed for Mr. Riddle to return to his former self. The destruction of the previous Horcruxes would have permitted those fragments to return to the host." Runfast looked at Lucius and Severus. "If you would reveal your left arm, it would be the confirmation we need."

Lucius and Severus looked at Minerva and Harry. Harry rolled his eyes. "I don't care if you are or aren't. Honestly, if this is how the light side treats me, I would sign up for the dark side if possible."

"I find I am in agreement with Harry." Minerva patted Severus' arm. "Just because someone is dark doesn't mean they are evil."

Lucius and Severus undid the buttons on their sleeves. They rolled back the sleeve and exposed their mark. They looked a bit surprised to see it much darker than before. It was almost back to full. They hadn't felt a thing. "Why didn't we feel anything?" Lucius touched his mark. It didn't burn or sting.

Severus was looking closely at his mark. "Is he almost back?"

"I believe so. We can't confirm it but it would make sense based on what we read. His sanity would also be returned. Given the small fraction of missing soul, he should be back to well before he made his first one. The diary would have been fifty percent of his soul."

Harry's eyes went wide. "He cut his soul in half?"

"Yes, and more. Each time he created one, he cut a fraction of his soul off." Bloodthirsty looked at Lucius. "Since he was declared deceased, it would close any case against him. If he were to return and has his sanity, it would be best to direct him to us and have us explain the situation."

Lucius had to agree. He didn't want to be cursed. "I will provide the information."

Harry thought for a few minutes. "I might be able to do it. I have been having weird dreams. Dumbledore has been interested in them. He has had Granger and Weasley asking me about them. I might be able to use the Horcrux inside of me to speak to him."

*You are.* A voice appeared in his head.

Harry tried not to react. *Horcrux or You-Know-Who?*

"Voldemort and I have been listening since you woke up. I got sucked into whatever ritual the goblins did. Let them know so they don't think you are being possessed.*

"He can hear us and has been listening since I woke up."

*Tell them to get Mad-Eye in the room.*

"He said we need Mad-Eye here." Harry looked at Professor McGonagall. He was confused as to why they needed Mad-Eye.

"I will get him. He is watching the doors." Minerva stood up and left the room.

Chapter Text

Harry was dreading the meeting with Dumbledore. Since they returned last night Harry had to endure listening to Granger and Weasley bothering him regarding everything that might have happened after he left Hogwarts last night. As agreed, he told them that Lucius gained custody of him because of the Child Protective Services. He didn't mention the Horcrux but since they left so suddenly, Harry mentioned that Lucius demanded the goblins check his health due to the scan report Severus had taken. When Granger whined about leaving without Dumbledore's permission, Harry mentioned that Minerva was with him and made sure nothing happened to him.

Weasley was furious with him about the Goblet, the interview, and leaving last night. Weasley backed everything Granger whined and complained about. It wasn't anything new but it was getting annoying. Somehow, Weasley had it in his head that Harry betrayed everyone and wasn't a Gryffindor because he gave the interview. Harry found if he ignored Weasley, Weasley got madder and Granger dragged him away each time. Harry and Neville took advantage of it.

"When do you meet with him?" Neville whispered to Harry at lunch.

"After lunch." Harry didn't look up at the Head Table. He was expecting Granger and the two Weasleys to push people out of the way to sit next to him. He was sure Granger had instructions from Dumbledore on what to nag him about.

"Do you think Rita will do a follow-up?" Neville was hoping for a follow-up. Everyone who truly knew Harry was very aware of how much trash Granger and Weasley talked about Harry.

"I am not sure. She can't print several things because of the confidential laws." Harry refused to turn his head toward the Head Table in case Dumbledore attempted to read his mind. Severus and Lucius were going to help him learn to protect his mind but it wasn't going to be a fast process he had been warned.

"Well, if it can keep you away from your relatives." Neville was watching the door for Granger and Weasley. "They should be here soon since Dumbledore is here."

"I am not sure what they are attempting to do. They hated me for entering the tournament despite me not entering it and now they are trying to ignore the interview and my entrance and be friends with me, again."

Dean sat down next to Harry. "They are on the way. We should have heard Granger lecturing Weasley."

Harry let out a low groan. "Great she is in full lecture mode."

Seamus laughed. "Isn't she always?"

"True." Harry had to agree. He didn't groan when Granger and Weasley pushed Seamus and Dean out of the way and sat down. Harry arched a brow as Dean and Seamus protested.

"Harry, where have you been?" Granger didn't apologize to Dean or Seamus. "We are your friends and you are hiding things from us."

"You aren't my friend." Harry glared at her. "I read what you said after I left the room." Harry stood up. "I might as well head up to the Headmaster's office."

"It's-" Granger stopped realizing she didn't have a reason to correct Harry.

Harry was aware that Dumbledore was still sitting at the Head Table but he needed time to focus his mind. He was aware not to look at Dumbledore's eyes and how he needed to keep calm. Harry was promised some books to start learning how to protect his mind but until then he had to focus.

*I will assist.* Voldemort's voice filled his head. *He won't be able to read your mind.*

Harry was creeped out that Voldemort could enter his mind and speak to him. He was still attempting to process the fact that the Horcrux could never be removed and what it meant for him. *A warning would be nice. I am not used to this.*

*I am aware and I will try.*

*Have you figured out what type of bond we will have?*

Harry sat down behind the Gargoyle in the stairwell to Dumbledore's office. *I am working on it. I do believe what the goblins suggested is accurate. I will be heading to Gringotts to fix my legal situation. Lucius and Mad-Eye have been providing some helpful information.*

*I don't need to know it. The less I know the better it is. We can't take a chance of Dumbledore learning the truth.* Harry didn't need to have Dumbledore become aware of his situation.

Severus POV:

Last night when Severus and Minerva returned to Hogwarts, they had been summoned to Dumbledore's office. Dumbledore had tried to get Harry to join them but Minerva informed Dumbledore that the boy was heading to bed on orders of the healers from Gringotts. She slammed a copy of Harry's health report down. "Explain that? You assured me he was being taken care of."

Needless to say, the conversation didn't go as Dumbledore wanted. Minerva kept Dumbledore on the defensive with her demands to explain Harry's home life with the muggles. Minerva was a true Gryffindor with her demands and kept Dumbledore from learning anything.

Severus was aware that Kingsley and Mad-Eye would back what they were saying since it was the basic plan they crafted at Gringotts. Lucius would push the same story with the Ministry, Minister, Madam Bones, and Child Protective Services. Severus did wonder when Dumbledore would become aware that Madam Bones would be charging the Dursleys with abuse. It wouldn't be this week but it was in the works. Harry would need to give his memories later to Severus for Madam Bones.

Severus was watching Dumbledore, discreetly, during lunch. Minerva was still giving Dumbledore the hostile treatment and wasn't afraid to push back at the man. Severus was aware that Minerva was going to attend the meeting between Dumbledore and Harry despite Dumbledore's attempts to prevent it. Severus was aware that Minerva was going to attend.

Minerva:

Minerva was ready to kill the old fool. If he thought she wasn't going to attend the meeting with Harry, he was sadly mistaken. It was bad enough that he kept lying to her last night. As if the man wasn't aware of how Harry was treated. She was aware that Arabella Figg was in the neighborhood. After what she learned last night and Harry's confirmation that he had asked to not return to the muggles every year, it was enough for her to know Dumbledore was very aware.

Severus had explained how many times students had gone to Dumbledore about their abuse and he ignored the students. Severus had tried when he was a student as well. Severus had also given her some truths that hit her hard last night regarding the Marauders and Dumbledore's policy of ignoring any students who weren't Gryffindors.

"Minerva, I am sure we can agree on what to do with this situation."

"No, I am attending this meeting. You will not bully Harry into agreeing with whatever you want him to do." Minerva stood up. "I do believe it's time for our meeting. Harry has already left."

"I would like to attend as well." Mad-Eye stood up.

"Excellent idea." Minerva didn't give Dumbledore a chance to protest. "We don't want to keep Harry waiting."

Lucius:

Lucius was sitting with Fudge and Madam Bones. They were reviewing the evidence that the goblins had provided. Fudge and Madam Bones were looking a bit sick. "Kingsley can back this up?"

"Yes. Mad-Eye as well. They were at Gringotts when the testing was done. I have the memories from everyone from the time we left Hogwarts to back up what was said and done."

"We will need to review them. We will need memories from Harry regarding the muggles."

Madam Bones looked a bit sick from reading the reports judging by her color. Lucius understood how she felt as he had felt the same way. He had spoken to Narcissa last night and she agreed to take in Harry. Fudge was a bit of an idiot and was more concerned about how it would make his administration look. Lucius and Madam Bones were explaining how good it would make him look to fix a situation that Dumbledore and the last administration had created. Fudge quickly agreed with Lucius and Madam Bones.

"We need to keep this to a need-to-know." Madam Bones looked at Fudge. "Dumbledore can't become aware of this and we need to move quickly and quietly."

"Agreed." Lucius glanced at Fudge waiting for his agreement.

"Agreed. I will put a seal on it."

"You can't tell Dolores or anyone else. It stays between us and Child Protective Services. I am not sure how many people Melanie will need from her department but they are under secrecy vows so the information will be safe." Madam Bones started to create a list of things she needed to get done. "Rita?"

"She is aware she can't print most of this information but she will be doing a follow-up. I believe it will be published tomorrow." Lucius was meeting with Rita later to discuss what would be printed. "It is Albus we will have to worry about."

"Agreed. He will want more information and try to prevent the removal of Harry for his greater good."

Lucius resisted rolling his eyes at Madam Bones' statement. Dumbledore's greater good was the worst thing that had happened to the magical world. "He will. We will have to officially unseal Harry's records to get the muggles' address. Harry has already provided it but it would be better if it was done officially."

"I will handle it." Madam Bones wrote a reminder.

"I will be able to override it."

Lucius was aware that Fudge wanted to be seen as doing something since they pointed out the advantages of helping Harry. "I do believe we covered everything until we can progress further. I expect Melanie will want to meet with us." Melanie was the head of the Child Protective Services. A job that Dumbledore had removed a lot of power from with his idea of family love and how children weren't abused.

"She will." Madam Bones and Fudge spoke at the same time. Lucius was a bit surprised as he thought they would have to walk Fudge through every step of the way.

"Let's set a date for next week." Madam Bones was still filling out her list.

Lucius left the Ministry and wondered what Dumbledore's next move would be. He was sure he would receive a letter from Severus and Minerva regarding anything Dumbledore might have said or done last night and today. He hoped Harry would be able to provide some insight as well.

Lucius wasn't sure how he felt about where he was headed to next but it was sure to be interesting. He truly hoped the Dark Lord wasn't insane. They needed his brillent mind to stop Dumbledore.

Chapter Text

Madam Bones, Melanie, and Lucius were sick as they watched Harry's memories of the Dursleys and Hogwarts. "I can't believe the size of that Basilisk. He killed it with a sword. I am not even sure how he survived."

Lucius didn't look away from the frozen image of Harry sticking the sword into the Basilisk's mouth and the tooth embedded in Harry's arm. "Harry said Fawkes healed him. Would that be enough?"

"I don't think so but I did research a bit. Potter's a parslemouth. He might have some protection from poisons from it. According to what I researched, there is a debate regarding it in several countries. It appears that being a parslemouth isn't as rare as we thought." Melanie pulled out a scroll. "I created a book list that I think Potter might like to read. Could you pass this to him, Lucius?"

"I will pass it to Severus to give to him. I don't want to take a chance on Dumbledore seeing this list and refusing to pass it to Harry." Lucius was already dealing with Dumbledore's attempts to get Harry back under him. Dumbledore had tried to have a special session issued. Fudge and Madam Bones prevented it. Dumbledore then attempted to add Harry Potter's guardianship to the new issues list for the next Wizenagamot meeting. It was prevented by Melinie with her powers as head of Child Services.

"I have blocked Potter's file. No one can touch it or adjust it without my permission and co-signed by Amelia and Cornelius. I even put the file into my safe. Albus can't access it any longer but I know he will keep trying. He has already submitted paperwork to block me from getting involved, as well as an attempt to stop us from using Potter's memories. I am not sure how he got the paperwork signed."

"It would only take two other department heads. He has enough supporters to do it. I am willing to bet one of them is Arthur Weasley." Lucius tried not to show his displeasure in general regarding the Weasley family.

"Is Rita going to publish another article?" Madam Bones wasn't sure if she wanted to deal with the mess. She has had the same headache since the first article. The headache was called Dumbledore.

"Yes, but she is aware to keep it legal and not speak of anything covered under the Abuse Privacy Act. I believe Harry will be giving one too." Lucius had already scheduled the interview, but didn't want to alert anyone else as of yet. Rita was going to be writing an article about the decades of abuse that Dumbledore had ignored. Poppy was very willing to provide the evidence without the names included.

"I believe we might have a closer relationship than your wife, Lucius. I had some guardianship request papers from Gringotts this morning." Melanie had to take those papers very seriously. She opened a scroll she pulled from her bag. "A wizard by the name of Marvolo Peverell is seeking custody of Potter. The Peverell and Pottre lines interchange quite a bit. It appears, according to the goblins, that Mr. Peverell is a great uncle."

"I am aware." It was part of the agreement with the Dark Lord after Harry's purge. The connection between the two with the twisted Horcrux was very strong. They learned that the Dark Lord and Harry could speak, via the Horcrux, with each other. Severus had been nominated to teach Harry the Mind Arts. While it wouldn't completely block their connection, it would lessen it and keep the emotions from bleeding into each other. They also used a goblin glamour to cover Harry's red specks in his eyes. "It was a connection we discovered when we visited Gringotts."

"I do not have an objection to the placement if the man passes the home inspections and mental health aspects. I can do them before the end of the third term. I will arrange a time to meet with Harry but will not alert the Headmaster until the morning of." Melanie had already rearranged her schedule to handle the situation herself. She wasn't going to assign it to anyone else in case they let Dumbledore influence them and the decision of where Potter would go.

"Next issue," Madam Bones wanted to move things alone. "We have several legal issues we need to address." Madam Bones looked at the small group in the room. "We have a list of crimes by Dumbledore with evidence. I do not believe we will be able to convict him of anything as of yet. He will claim he was doing the best for Harry Potter and how it was a time of unrest in the magical world. If we try for the binds or complusions, he will use how the muggles are afraid of magic, and he was attempting to help Harry adjust."

"He would. He has had decades to get people to believe his harmless, old, grandfather type of persona. The man has let his fame build for decades." Fudge wanted to be seen as fixing the issues created by the last administration. He wanted to keep his position. He glanced at Lucius. "There will always be Dumbledore supporters. Do you think anything would lessen his influence?"

"Yes, but it will take time. He has been using Harry's name for a long time. It will take time to separate the two names and people to see Harry as an individual. Harry doing the interview has started the process. His decision to seek a guardian will also aid. If he remained independent, Dumbledore would use it against him. He would claim he was turning away from the Light." Lucius had already started the process of having Harry appear separate from the Harry Potter that Dumbledore created.

"We can discuss the logistics at a later date. Let's get Harry's custody issue settled. I will keep the charges from being filed, for now, as I agree with the lack of being able to convict Albus and anyone associated with him currently." Madam Bones sighed deeply. "I will also start digging into the past. I am wondering about a few different issues that Mad-Eye and Kingsley have mentioned."

Lucius nodded his understanding. Sirius Black was one of the issues. Harry and Minerva were not sure how Sirius would handle Harry being away from Dumbledore, but Minerva was willing to discuss the issue with Sirius. Severus did mention Lupin. Minerva believed she could show the two men the truth. Lucius wasn't sure. Lupin had proven he was loyal to Dumbledore. Sirius might go either way. He was hoping the man would follow Harry. While Harry had only met the man a handful of times, Harry felt connected to him.

Lucius and Severus had already discussed the connection and theorized that Harry was desperate for anyone to love him as Harry, not Harry Potter, not the Savior, not some icon for the Light. Harry wanted someone who wanted him. Lucius was hoping a sane Dark Lord with Harry Potter on his side would change the magical world. Personally, he had no use for the muggleborn, but he didn't want them removed from the magical world. He wanted to keep the muggles from discovering their world and enforce the laws regarding the secrecy of their world.

"When do you meet with Lord Peverell?" Fudge wondered.

"I am waiting for a response to confirm the date and time." Melanie glanced at her notes. "Lucius, did Potter get an Inheritance at Gringotts?"

"Yes, but I do not have a cover. I am sure we can get a copy." Lucius was aware that the goblins were fixing the test and accounts associated with the titles. "The accounts are a mess and the goblins are attempting to fix the accounts and the title issues since the Potters' wills were sealed and it caused a delay in handling the bequests."

"Understandable." Madam Bones checked another item off her list for issues to be discussed. "Last issue. The contract for the tournament."

"It is still up in the air. The goblins have requested to check the Goblet of Fire for tempering and Dumbledore has refused so far. I am sure the Board will be able to override it, especially since we had to change the dates of the events and the ball was cancelled. We didn't want to hold the events until everything settled." They were also unsure of how the Goblet would react given the chances since Barty entered Harry's name into the Goblet.

"Please keep me informed." Madam Bones crossed the last item off her list. "I believe we have covered everything. We can meet again when we have more information."

"Agreed. I will inform you when I am finished interviewing Potter and the muggles." Melanie was going to be busy over the next few weeks. "I am wondering if you could suggest some Aurors to bring with me to the interview, Amelia? Based on the muggles' reaction to magic, I do not want to take a chance since I will be asking about their behavior."

"I agree. I will inform Mad-Eye and Kingsley since they are already involved and support Potter. They were very displeased with learning where Dumbledore placed Potter." Madam Bones added a note on her list of stuff to get done. "Lucius?"

"I will keep you informed on any changes."

"Great. Let's end this meeting before Dumbledore stumbles in here." Fudge rose. "I am aware that several people most likely reported it to him already."

"Agreed." The group rose as Dumbledore entered the room

"Oh, delightful. I am not late." Dumbledore smiled as he moved to sit down.

Lucius, Fudge, Melanie, and Madam Bones exchanged a look. "I am not sure who you are meeting with but I am sure they will be alone shortly." Madam Bones nodded as Fudge led the group out of the room leaving a stunned Headmaster sitting at the table.
