Missing

Mother Nature and her husband Father Time were having breakfast in their garden when they were fanatically approached by the head Ice Elf, Crystal and head Fire Elf, Blaze. “The Miser brothers are missing!” They said franticly at the same time, clearly worried and upset. “What do you mean missing?” Father Time asked, his brow frowning. Both Crystal and Blaze began speaking at the same time, causing Mother Nature to put her hand up in a stop-motion. “Crystal, you will go first than you Blaze,” she said, crossing her arms across her chest. “Yesterday morning, I went to see Snow Miser to give him, his annual report,” she began, “but when I got there his office was empty! So I sent out Blizzard, Elsa, and Stormy they reported back empty-handed.” Crystal hung her head in shame, wishing she could have done more. “My story is the same as Crystal’s,” Blaze began. “When Ember, Pyro and Flint reported back empty, I went to Ice Miser and found Crystal on her way to see Heat Miser. That’s when we both decided to come and see you.” “Crystal, Blaze,” Mother Nature began gently, “This is not your fault, and we will find them.” She looked towards her husband, “Gather the children inform them what happened, Blaze, Crystal and myself are going to see Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Mother Nature arrived to find a worried Santa pacing his office and a worried Mrs. Claus comforting two clearly upset elves. “I do apologize Mother Nature, Ma will assist you with whatever you need. Tinsel is missing, and I need to find her.” He was about to walk out the door when he was stopped. “Santa, wait! Mother Nature said urgently, “You said one of your elves is missing? That’s why I am here my sons, The Miser Brothers are missing.” There was a shocked silence. “Do you think they have been kidnapped?” Jingle asked nervously looking at his brother Jangle, both worried about their baby sister Tinsel. These words caused Crystal and Blaze to exchange worried looks, “Who would want to kidnap them” Blaze asked in a worried tone, “Tinsel has nothing in common with them!” “If indeed they have been kidnapped, we require a plan to find them. Losing our heads won’t help them.” Mrs. Claus said firmly. “Crystal, Blaze,” Mother Nature began, trying to stay calm, “I require you to return and run things until we find The Miser Brothers. We will keep you posted.” “Yes, Mother Nature,” they said dully. “Boys,” Mrs. Claus said, “We will keep you posted, but in the meantime I need you to return to the stables.” “Yes, Mrs. C,” both Jingle and Jangle said, walking out sadly with Blaze and Crystal. When they were at the entrance of Santa’s house, Jingle said, “We're going to look for our sister, if you want in, meet us at the stables tonight.” Crystal and Blaze said they were both were in.

Mother Nature arrived as Father Time began explaining what had happened. “Hello, Mother.” North Wind said in his usual conceited voice. His siblings snickered behind their hands, remembering the trouble he got into with Mother Nature, this Christmas that had just passed. North Wind huffed angrily at been ignored and his siblings snickering. “Your brothers,” Father Time began gravely looking at all of his children. “Heat and Snow Miser are missing!” Everyone started muttering worriedly amongst themselves, all except North Wind, who just rolled his eyes, not caring. “That’s not all,” Mother Nature said, putting a stop to the muttering. “Tinsel, one of Santa’s elves is missing!” “Who would take them,” South Wind asked, she was extremely fond of her youngest brothers and extremely distressed to hear they were missing. “Life,” Father Time asked, “Can you sense where they are” Life shook her head sadly “Were ever they are, it’s clouding my vision.” She then looked towards her twin sister Death, “It’s urgent we find them, their time upon this plan is short.” This caused Mother Nature’s face to pale, and she swayed in shock, luckily Father Time caught her, helping her to a seat. “How is this possible?” Earthquake asked in fear and anger, causing a small Earthquake. Death exchanged a look with Life, saying “Forgive me Mother and Father, I should have told you sooner, but The Crystal of Death, has been stolen! It can take away immortally from anyone of us! It's my fault they are dying!” Life tried comforting her sister, “We will find them alive and can heal them with Crystal of Life.” “Yes, Life is right,” Death’s siblings said. Not blaming her at all.

Frantic Search

It was close to nine at night when they met at the stables. Blaze lit the wick in the lanterns, while Jangle said “We all know why we here,” the four of them nodded “We have a theory and I think you might agree with us, we think The North Wind might be behind it.” Blaze and Crystal exchanged thoughtful looks. “It makes sense,” said Blaze, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, “They were the ones that saved Santa from The North Wind.” Crystal began pacing up and down, but stopped when she realised she was causing a thin layer of ice. “We need to go and see Life, she will help! Crystal said, slamming her hand into her fist. Once Vixen and Comet were hitched to Mrs. Claus sleigh, they were off to go and see Life, hoping she would help.

In the meantime, Mrs. Claus had gone looking for Jingle and Jangle, only to find them and her sleigh missing. “Oh, dear!” She thought in dismay, “What have those boys done now!” “Ma,” said Santa looking at her, “Have you found Jingle and Jangle?” “Jingle and Jangle?” Mrs. Claus asked innocently, “Why, I have no idea what you’re talking about, pa.” “Confounded ma! What have they done now? Santa said in a very impatient tone of voice. Mrs. Claus shook her head calmly saying “It looks like they have gone looking for Tinsel on their own, taking Vixen and Comet, including my sleigh.” Santa just sighed, saying he needed to speak urgently with Mother Nature.”

The four of them had arrived at Life’s house expecting to find order and calm, but instead they found disorder and panic. It wasn’t unusual to see Death at her sister’s house, “Is it urgent?” Death asked, “My sister is very busy at the moment, is there anything I can assist you with?” “Yes! Said Jingle and Jangle, urgently, “We know who took our sister and your brothers!” These words caught Life’s attention as she went to stand at her sister’s side. “You have my attention” she said. “It was The North wind!” Blaze said, grinding his teeth furiously, accidentally sending a fiery spark at Jangle. “They may have had their difference in the past, how can you be so sure?” Life asked slightly sceptical. “He tried to kill Santa, just to try and take his place!” Jingle said, causing the bell on his hat to shake in furry. “Yes!” said Jangle, “Tinsel helped them save Santa and prove them innocent of causing Santa’s sleigh accident!” “It does make sense…” Death said reluctantly. “The North Wind only knew about out the Crystal of Life because of the family meeting, and the next thing you know it’s missing…and he has been spending a lot of time in Mother’s library.” “Wait, wait, take a step back! What are you two talking about Life and Death Crystals?” Crystal said in a frustrated voice, pacing the floor, causing a thin layer of ice. “The Crystal of Death has the power to take away immortality and kill anyone.” Death explained while Life frantically wrote a note. “Life and I were searching for The Crystal of Life, it has the ability to save our brothers. I sense they, like your sister, are dying.” “If we can’t find them we will find The North Wind, I am sending this note to Mother explaining everything, I know where they are, but first we need to make a pit stop” Life said with determination. As they all got in the sleigh, watching one of the Life elves take the urgent message to Mother Nature.

Rescue Mission

The South Wind was waiting for them when they arrived, “I got your message,” she said, climbing in the sleigh. “There is only one place he would have taken them, Mount Tempest. Only the Four Winds and Mother can enter. We can take others in with us.” Getting out, she flew ahead of the sleigh, she parted the winds, making it easier for them to enter the cavern in front of them. When the sleigh had landed, The South Wind told everyone what they need to do. “Blaze, Crystal, Jingle and Jangle you need to go after his elves, knock them unconscious. Let us know if you find the prisoners. We will deal with our brother.” Everyone nodded, determined to save their missing family members.

Mother Nature and Father Time had arrived not long after them, they had explained to Santa and Mrs. Clause what was going on and that they would bring everyone back safely.

The four of them came across a guarded room, “Do you think they are in there,” Blaze asked thoughtfully. “Let’s find out,” said Crystal with grim determination, freezing the two guards on the spot. They checked the surrounding area and went in the room, they had found the Life and Death Crystals. “Remember, you can’t touch them directly!” Jangle said anxiously no one said anything Crystal made two ice boxes, and ice gloves for Blaze who scowled but said nothing, he removed the Crystals and placed them in the individual boxes while Jingle and Jangle watched nervously. “Let’s go find Life and Death,” he said after thawing the ice gloves. They walked through a labyrinth of halls and passages when they saw The North Wind existing a practically room, and went in to investigate. “Tinsel!” Jingle and Jangle cried with joy and relief, “We were so worried!” They hugged her once they got, they unchained her from the wall. “Boss!” Crystal and Blaze, running to the respective Miser Brother and removing their chains. They were about to leave the room when The North Wind entered, “Tch, tch! I don’t think so, you won’t be going anywhere,” he said, waving his hand causing a strong wind to blow them against the wall and getting his elves to chain them against the wall. “You won’t get away with this!” Jingle said, trying to sound brave, but failed as he had a slight quiver to his voice. “Don’t you see, I already I have!” The North Wind said with a maniacal laugh, removing the Crystal of Death from its ice case.

Life, Death and The South Wind had seen The North Wind enter a practically room with an evil grin on his face, and they knew it did not bode well. They entered the exact moment he used the Crystal of Death on Jangle. Both Life and Death summoned their Crystals to them. “You won’t get away with this!” The South Wind said in fury, while Life and Death inched closer towards the prisoners. “I already have,” The North Wind said arrogantly, and they began to battle. Once they had been freed, Life gave immortality back to her brother and healed Tinsel and Jangle. “Enough!” Mother Nature said, entering the room with Father Time, causing the battle to cease. “I can’t believe you would stoop as low as to kill your own brothers, it pains me to do this, but you leave me no choice. I have decided to strip you of your immortality, powers and memories. Furthermore, you will be de-aged to that of a child and live the remained of your life as a mortal. Along with your minions.” The North Wind Paled, “Father, please…” all Father Time could do was shake his head sadly and say in a disappointed voice, “You left us no choice. You have abused your powers and tried to kill those closest to you, we are truly sorry.” He snapped his fingers and The North Wind turned into a mortal baby, he snapped his fingers again, and he was gone. Mother Nature wept silently mourning the loss of her son, not matter how evil he was. “It’s time to go,” she said in a shaky voice.

Santa and Mrs. Clause were overjoyed to see the safe of their elves, but sad to hear what Mother Nature and Father Time were forced to do. They would go and see them in a few days when the shock had settled and hopped they would heal from this gaping wound.
